OBJECTIVES:
a. The child can identify the noun in the sentences given.
b. Child can give an example for proper noun, and common noun.
c. Child can identify the proper noun and common with a given sentences
at the end of discussion.

DISCUSSION:
Noun is a naming word. It’s a name of a person, place, event, or a thing.

2 types of noun:
1. Proper Noun – when a noun refers to a particular person, place, or
thing. These nouns are always starts in a capital letter.
Example: England, Jose, Maxcel
2. Common Noun – when it refers to any one of a class of people, places,
or things.
Example: country, dog, boy

SAMPLE SENTENCES: tell whether the noun is proper noun or common noun.

1. The doctor is approachable.


2. Jose is a great singer.
3. Love is the most powerful.
4. The country is clean.
5. Cagayan River is the most wonderful river I have seen.

TOPIC: GRAMMAR LINK: Singular and Plural Nouns

OBJECTIVES:
a. The child can distinguish the noun if singular or plural;
b. At the end of the session the can answer the question in 75% of
Excellency.

DISCUSSION:
A Singular Noun names one person, place or thing. A plural Noun
names more than one person, place, or a thing.
Here are some rules:
RULE 1: We form the plural of most nouns by adding –s.
Example: doll – dolls book-books

RULE 2: We form the plural of nouns ending in s, x, ch, sh, and z by adding –
es.
Example: box – boxes princess – princesses
Eyelash – eyelashes witch – witches

RULE 3: We form the plural of nouns ending in Y preceded by a consonant by


changing Y to I and adding –es.
Example: fairy – fairies baby – babies

RULE 4: We form the plural of nouns ending in y preceded by a vowel by


adding –s.
Example: boy – boys key – keys
Toy – toys alley – alleys

RULE 5: We form a plural of nouns ending in F of Fe by changing F or Fe to v


and adding –s or –es.
Example: shelf – shelves knife – knives

RULE 6: We form the plural of some nouns by changing the spelling of the
singular noun.
Example: man – men mouse - mice
