Guru Tegh Bahadur

Guru Tegh Bahadur ji carried forward the sanctity and


divinity of Guru Nanak Dev ji and the light of the next Sikh
guru. His spiritual writings are recorded as 116 poetic
verses on various subjects such as the nature of God,
human attachments, body, mind, grief, honor, service,
death and salvation, scriptures, Sri Guru. Granth Sahib ji.
To spread the message of Sikhism, the Guru traveled
extensively across the Indian subcontinent and
established many new teaching centers. He founded the
city of Chak-nanki in Punjab and later the tenth Nanak
Guru Govind Singh ji settled in Sri Anandpur Sahib city.
Guru Teg Bahadur was the sixth Guru and the youngest
son of Guru Hari Govind.Guru Teg bahadur was brought
up in Sikh culture. He was trained in archery and horse
riding. He was taught vedas,Puranas and old classics. He
gave priority to loneliness and purity of the soul for a long
time. He was married on 3 February 1633 to Mata Gujri.
He contributed many hymns to Granth Sahib.He visited
many parts of the Mughal Empire and was asked by
Gobind Sahali to construct several Sikh temples in Mohali.
He contributed 116 shabads, 15 ragas that became the
part of bani in Sikhism. His works are included in Guru
Granth Sahib. He wrote about different topics like nature of
God,body,mind,sorrow,dignity,service,death .For example
he told in Sorath raag that how an ideal person likes to be.
Jo nar dukh me dukh nii manney,sukh snehh ar phey nahi
ja kai, kanchan maati manney
na nindya nehn usttat ja kai lobh moh abhimana
harakh sog tey rahey niaro nahen maan apmana, aasa
mansa sagal tyagey
jagg tey rahey nirasa, kaam krodh jeh parsai nahin the
ghatt brahma niwasa

The person who does not trouble with misfortune and is


beyond comfort ,attachment, afraid and who considers
gold as dust . That person never tells bad words to
others and is not affected by grace and honors and he
removes greed ,expectations and ignorance . He is not
affected by either respect or disrespect. He is not
connected with the world and senses and anger do not
affect him. God lies in such a person.
He travelled to different parts of the country like Dhaka
and Assam to spread the teachings of first Sikh Guru
Nanak. The places where he visited and stayed became
the sites of sikh temples.
During his travels,he spread the thought and message of
sikh and constructed community water wells and started
langars .
In May 1675, Hindu scholars from the Kashmir region
approached Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and demanded that
Guru intervene to force the Mughal rulers of India to
convert Hindus to Islam. Supporting Hindu scholars by
opposing these forced religions and refusing to convert
themselves to Islam, Guru Tegh Bahadur was publicly
beaten at the behest of Emperor Rangajeeb in the royal
capital Delhi. Today Guru Guru Siz Ganj Sahib and
Gurdwara Raqab Ganj Sahib stand at the cremation
ground of Guru Ji. Along with Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji,
three other Sikhs, Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das and Bhai
Dayal Das were also killed.
On the supreme sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur ji to
achieve human rights for all, his son, the tenth Nanak,
wrote Guru Gobind Singh Ji:
Thekhar Pho Dilas Sir, Prabhapur Kia Pawan,
Look at Tegh Bahadur, the coward, Kenhou is not on.
Due to Tegh Bahadur, sleep in a world of fear,
Everyone is awake, Jai Jai Jai Sur Loka.

Tegh Bahadur went into the kingdom of God.
No one else in the world has done such an amazing job.
After his departure, the world was in despair.
The world shouted "Aw, aw". Heavens began with
congratulations on the victory.
In 1666, the Guru left Patna in Bihar with his wife, family
members and Sikhs and moved from Patna to eastern
Bihar, Assam and present-day Bangladesh.
Mata Gujri was expecting a baby at this time, so it was
difficult for her to travel. Fourteen years have passed
since her marriage to Guru Tegh Bahadur. Three hours
before the end of the day, in the winter of her second
year, on Friday, January 5, 18, Mata Gujri became the
mother of a prince. Surprised by such a small royal
influence, Mother Nana proudly extended her newborn
grandson into the arms of the mother.
At his post outside the room, Kripal Chand heard that the
baby had taken his first breath, and immediately set out
to send the courier waiting for the signal, to look for the
teacher and to inform him of the birth of his son. ... Thus
Govind Roy was born in the city of Patna in Bihar in
eastern India.
Guru Jini was beheaded on 24 November 1675 and the
head of Guru Ji's tomb was placed at Bhai Jaita Anand
Sahib, which was cremated by Guru Gobind Singh. After
the execution came a severe storm and Bhai Lakhi Shah
took Guruji’s body to his house, after which he set fire to
his teacher’s body for cremation. Bhai Jaita is said to
have voluntarily beheaded his own father to bear the loss
of Guru’s body. Many scholars became Sikhs. Their
leader Kirpa Ram was baptized as a Sikh and Guru
Gobind Singh died fighting the Mughals with his eldest
sons.Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was a versatile personality,
warrior, socially committed family man and a great
understanding and visionary preacher. His martyr u
Rangajebu broke the myth of devotion.
The achievements of Guru Tegh Bahadur are
noteworthy:
Towards the end of Guruji's life, Guruji founded a new
city called Anandapur Sahib (the city of happiness) and
made missionary trips to UP and Bengal. Guru ji started
welfare projects across North Punjab.
Guru ji symbolizes the victory of good over evil, the
martyr of Guru ji, unique in the history of mankind, who
inspired many Sikhs to dedicate their lives to great
causes and moral values.Guru Ji was also a versatile
poet and gave a message of freedom, courage and
compassion; "Don't be afraid and don't be afraid."
