CREATIVE NON FICTION PRELIM EXAMINATION

TEST III. ESSAY (20 POINTS)

DIRECTIONS: One of the threats in the progression of creative nonfiction stories as a

new form of writing is the spread of fake news in social media. Nowadays, we can read
different issues (political, societal, entertainment etc.) And the followers would
nonchalantly express his/her opinion regarding the matter; without verifying its source.
If you are to make a commentary on this issue, how will you present your writings?
Would it be humorous, aggressive, argumentative or persuasive? Write a one
paragraph commentary on the situation above.

All right, I admit it now. I've been one of those followers who nonchalantly express his
opinions to media posts which later on found out to be fictitious. Now, who am I to judge
them when once upon a time I've been doing the rant myself without doing research
first? When does a hypocrite wants to be called a hypocrite? Actually, I did. We are all
entitled to our own opinions. But we are as well responsible for everything that we share
and digest online especially that the media users are growing bigger. Come on, do your
research at least. It doesn't mean it comes from a popular figure or someone who
eloquently expresses something automatically means that's a fact. Sometimes I
assumed people are thirsty alone for issues they can comment about and never the
truth.
