Topic: BCSS Implementation of MasteryConnect Assessments and Trackers

Presenter: Abbey Goldin

Needs Assessment: Buford Central Office Assessment Directors have expressed a need to
implement the use of MasteryConnect in conjunction with Canvas to gather student common
Benchmark student data.

Needs Assessment Background Information: MasteryConnect is an assessment tool purchased

prior to the 2020-21 school year coupled with the Learning Management system, Canvas by BCSS.
Teachers will use MasteryConnect to track student mastery of the Georgia Standards of Excellence in
each content area. This tool will serve as a collection of teacher-created assessments serving the
Buford City Schools district. The “mastery” part of the website will help teachers plan assessments
linked to Georgia state standards and analyze data collected from common district assessments. The
“content” part of the website will help teachers establish a storehouse of assessment questions to
assess student learning in a variety of ways. Through a community of peers users can modify criteria
to fit individual student or classroom learning objectives.

Why Use MasteryConnect will help identify levels of understanding, target students for intervention
and self-evaluate teaching and learning in the classroom.
