PRESENTATION OF BUILDING
INSTALLATION DESIGN

Procedure
This Standard replaces and cancels the previous revision.

The Responsible CONTEC Subcommittee provides guidance on the


interpretation of this Standard when questions arise regarding its contents. The
Department of PETROBRAS that uses this Standard is fully responsible for
adopting and applying the clauses thereof.

CONTEC Technical Requirement: a provision established as being the most adequate


and which shall be used strictly in accordance with this Standard. If a decision is

Técnicas taken not to follow the requirement (“nonconformity” to this Standard) it shall be
based on well-founded economic and management reasons, and be approved
and registered by the Department of PETROBRAS that uses this Standard. It is
characterized by the verb forms “shall,” “it is necessary...,” “is required to...,” “it is
required that...,” “is to...,” “has to...,” “only ... is permitted,” and other equivalent
expressions having an imperative nature.
Recommended Practice: a provision that may be adopted under the conditions
of this Standard, but which admits (and draws attention to) the possibility of there
being a more adequate alternative (not written in this Standard) to the particular
application. The alternative adopted shall be approved and registered by the
Department of PETROBRAS that uses this Standard. It is characterized by the
verbal form “should” and equivalent expressions such as “it is recommended
that...” and “ought to...” (verbs of a nonmandatory nature). It is indicated by the
expression: [Recommended Practice].
Copies of the registered “nonconformities” to this Standard that may contribute to
the improvement thereof shall be submitted to the Responsible CONTEC
Subcommittee.
SC - 04 Proposed revisions to this Standard shall be submitted to the Responsible
Civil Construction CONTEC Subcommittee, indicating the alphanumeric identification and revision
of the Standard, the clause(s) to be revised the proposed text, and
technical/economic justification for revision. The proposals are evaluated during
the work for alteration of this Standard.
“The present Standard is the exclusive property of PETRÓLEO
BRASILEIRO S.A. - PETROBRAS, for internal use in the company,
and any reproduction for external use or disclosure, without
previous express authorization, will imply an unlawful act
pursuant to the relevant legislation through which the applicable
responsibilities shall be imputed. External circulation shall be
regulated by a specific clause of Secrecy and Confidentiality
pursuant to the terms of intellectual and industrial property law.”

Foreword
PETROBRAS Technical Standards are prepared by Working Groups - GTs
(consisting of PETROBRAS specialists and specialists from PETROBRAS Subsidiaries), are
commented by PETROBRAS Units and PETROBRAS Subsidiaries, are approved by the Responsible
Subcommittees - SCs (consisting of specialists belonging to the same specialty, representing the
various PETROBRAS Units and PETROBRAS Subsidiaries), and ratified by the CONTEC Assembly
(consisting of representatives of the PETROBRAS Units and PETROBRAS Subsidiaries). A
PETROBRAS Technical Standard may be submitted to revision at any time by the responsible
specialized Subcommittee and shall be reviewed every 5 years to be revalidated, revised or cancelled.
PETROBRAS Technical Standards are prepared in accordance with PETROBRAS Technical

FOREWORD

This Standard is the English version (issued in JUN/2003) of Standard PETROBRAS


N-2128 REV. B JUN/2003. This Standard is the Revalidation of Standard PETROBRAS
N-2128 REV. A AUG/97, the contents thereof not altered.

1 SCOPE

1.1 This Standard establishes the required conditions for the presentation of building
installation designs of cold water, hot water, sanitary sewer and pluvial waters.

1.2 This Standard is applied to procedures started as of its date of issuance.

1.3 This Standard only contains Technical Requirements

2 SUPPLEMENTARY DOCUMENTS

The documents listed below are mentioned in the text and contain valid requirements for the
present Standard.

Execution;
PETROBRAS N-1710 - Codificação de Documentos Técnicos de Engenharia.

Note: For documents for which only the Portuguese version is available, the
PETROBRAS department that uses this Standard should be consulted for any
information required for the specific application.

3 DEFINITIONS

For the purpose of this Standard the definitions are adopted of the standards related of
Chapter 2.

4 GENERAL CONDITIONS

4.1 The drawings shall obey the determination in standard PETROBRAS N-381.

4.2 The design technical documents, such as: descriptive memoranda, calculation sheet,
drawings index, materials lists and others, shall be presented in an organized way, using the
standardized forms of standard PETROBRAS N-381.

4.3 The document codification shall be in agreement with standard PETROBRAS N-1710 or
as defined by PETROBRAS.

5 SPECIFIC CONDITIONS

5.1 Cold and Hot Water Installations

5.1.1 Design Documents

The design shall be constituted of the following documents:

a) descriptive memorandum;
b) calculation sheet;
c) drawings;
d) material lists;
e) recommendations for construction and assembly.

5.1.2 Descriptive Memorandum

5.1.2.1 It shall contain the following information:

a) design description;
b) materials specification;
c) design documents list.

5.1.2.2 In the design description the justification of adopted solutions shall be presented,
viewing the basic designs and local conditions.

5.1.3 Calculation Sheet

It shall contain the following elements:

a) summary description and adopted criteria justification;


b) standards, municipal postures and adopted bibliographies;
c) spreadsheets with the definition of hydraulic parameters of flowing for each net
section;
d) other necessary informations for perfect understanding of design.

5.1.4 Drawings

5.1.4.1 Drawings shall include:

a) pavements plants;
b) vertical layout;
c) isometric and detail;
d) adopted symbology.

5.1.4.2 The pavements plants shall contain the location and dimensioning of the following
elements:

a) water consumer sets;

b) suction and settling columns and its devices;


c) distribution columns and ventilation piping;
d) distribution branches;
e) horizontal net of distribution;
f) valves and other operating devices;
g) bench clamp and breather pipe;
h) groups lifter;
i) reservoirs with its feeding devices;
j) measurers or limiters of flow rate and shelter for them.

5.1.4.3 The vertical layout shall contain the location and dimensioning of the following
elements:

a) water consumer sets;


b) suction and settling columns and its devices;
c) distribution columns and ventilation piping;
d) distribution branches;
e) valves and other operating devices;
f) bench clamp and breather pipe;
g) groups lifter;
h) reservoirs with its feeding devices;
i) measurers or limiters of flow rate and shelter for them.

5.1.4.4 It shall be represented in isometric:

a) drawings the installations of sanitariums;


b) lunch room;
c) kitchens;
d) laboratories;
e) pump houses;
f) distribution bench clamp;
g) other similar installations.

5.1.4.5 It shall be properly detailed:

a) piping fixing in masonry work, structures and others;


b) piping thermal isolation;
c) piping inlet and outlet of reservoirs;
d) measurers or limiters boxes;
e) protection of underground piping;
f) other necessary details for good understanding of design.

5.1.5 Material Lists

It shall contain the detailed list of all the materials and equipment with its respective amounts.

5.1.6 Design Recommendations for Construction and Assembly

It shall contain the following elements:

a) scope;
b) services extent;

c) services specifications;
d) indication of tests that shall be carried out;
e) reference documents list.

5.2 Installations of Sanitary Sewer and Pluvial Waters

5.2.1 Design Documents

The design shall be constituted of the following documents:

a) descriptive memorandum;
b) calculation sheet;
c) drawings;
d) material lists;
e) recommendations for construction and assembly.

5.2.2 Descriptive Memorandum

5.2.2.1 It shall contain the following information:

a) design description;
b) materials specification;
c) design documents list.

5.2.2.2 In the design description shall be presented the justification of adopted solutions,
viewing the basic designs and the local conditions.

5.2.3 Calculation Sheet

It shall contain the following elements:

a) summary description and justification of the adopted criteria;


b) standards, municipal postures and adopted bibliographies;
c) spreadsheets with the definition of hydraulic parameters of flowing for each net
section;
d) other necessary informations for perfect understanding of design.

5.2.4 Drawings

5.2.4.1 Drawings shall include:

a) pavements and covering plants;


b) vertical layout;
c) adopted symbology;
d) details.

5.2.4.2 Pavements and roofs plants shall contain the location and dimensioning of the
following elements:

a) sanitary sets;

b) drain devices and desconnecters;


c) boxes and manhole wells;
d) plan of discharge, sewer and ventilation branches;
e) vertical waste pipe;
f) plan of building subcollectors and collectors with its declivity;
g) inspection pieces in sewer branch, subcollectors and building collectors;
h) ventilation columns and vent pipes;
i) pressure piping;
j) pressure equipments with its operating devices and technical characteristics;
k) horizontal plan of the pluvial waters net;
l) trough, conduit and rain water pipes;
m) treatment system of sanitary sewers and its effluents destination.

5.2.4.3 Vertical layout shall contain the location and dimensioning of the following elements:

a) sanitary sets;
b) drain devices and desconnecters;
c) boxes and manhole wells;
d) discharge branch, sewer branch, building subcollectors and collectors;
e) vertical waste pipe;
f) inspection pieces;
g) ventilation columns and vent pipes;
h) pressure piping;
i) lifter sets;
j) pluvial waters conduits;
k) treatment system of sanitary sewer and its effluents destination.

5.2.4.4 It shall be properly detailed:

a) piping fixing in masonry work, structures and others;


b) details of inspection boxes, neutralizer boxes, retainer boxes, boxes of water
and oil separator, manhole wells, bellows boxes, collectors boxes, septic tank,
treatment systems of sewers, sand boxes and others;
c) assembly horizontal details of all component pieces of laboratories, kitchens,
lunch room, sanitariums and others installations;
d) other necessary details for good understanding of design.

5.2.5 Material Lists

It shall contain the detailed list of all the materials and equipment with its amounts.

5.2.6 Design Recommendations for Construction and Assembly

It shall contain the following elements:

a) scope;
b) services extent;
c) services specifications;
d) indication of tests that shall be carried out;
e) reference documents list.
