Funded Early Education

Everything you need to know about Funded Early Education
Funded Early Education is a national government scheme which
allows all three and four year olds the opportunity to access high
quality early years provision. Each child is eligible to funded
flexible early education, of 15 hours per week, over a period of
38 weeks, before they reach the compulsory school age (the first
term following their fifth birthday). Some 2-year-olds are also
eligible for this funding too*
Funded Early Education is available for ALL three and four year
olds; irrespective of their background or family circumstances

When can I access my child’s Funded Early Education?
Children will receive their funded provision from the term after their
third birthday …
A child born on or between will become eligible for a funded place
from
1st April and 31st August 1st September following their third
birthday
1st September and 31st December 1st January following their third birthday
1st January and 31st March 1st April following their third birthday
How can the Funded Early Education be used?
The Department for Education (DfE) is keen to ensure that every
child accesses their full weekly entitlement of up to 15 hours
Funded Early Education. Parents may use their Funded Early
Education entitlement at more than one provider (a maximum of
two), to suit their family’s needs.
The Funded Early Education entitlement must be taken within
the following limits:
•  he full 15 hours to be taken over at least two days per
T
week and a maximum of five days per week
• A maximum of 10 hours can be taken in one day
Our terms and conditions clearly set out how the Funded
Early Education hours can be accessed at the nursery and are
included in this pack.
What do I have to do to get my Funded Early Education?
As you are already at nursery, all you have to do is let the
Nursery Manager know when your child turns three and you will
be asked to complete a couple of forms and bring in a copy of
your child’s birth certificate.
*Please speak to your Nursery Manager regarding the
availability and how you can find out if you meet the eligibility
criteria for two-year-old funded places.
30 Hours Funded Childcare
You may be able to get up to 30 hours funded childcare (1,140
hours per year) for parents in England commencing from
September 2017.
• If you’re eligible for the extra hours, you sign up online to get
a code to give to your nursery to reserve your place*
• The extended hours will be available once the next term
starts and sessions can be agreed with your nursery
