We support and advocate for a consumers right to achieve wellness,
self-empowerment and self-sufficiency.

Austin Are Mental Health Consumers, Inc. provides its services at The Self-Help and
Advocacy Center (The SHAC). We are proud to report that we make a difference for
people with lived experiences of mental health, substance use and homelessness. Our
members receive life affirming services, embrace RECOVERY and healthy living,
become gainfully employed, and give back to their communities.

The SHAC
We are a unique, consumer-run organization that is the largest of it kind in Texas.
Although we operate on a small budget, the enthusiasm and energy of our volunteers
and efforts of our staff have led to unprecedented success. Our organization is on the
cutting edge of mental health services delivery and…
we would like YOU to be a part of providing quality,
low-cost services to our community.

YOU can Support Our Success

With $28,500 in new funding, we can provide CORE and ADDITIONAL services to 120
new members annually. New funds would also support building our volunteer program
to handle the day to day office needs, giving staff time to work directly with members on
wellness and recovery strategies.
