Opera Australia Summer Season – Aida


AUDITION DATE: Friday 19th March 2021
AUDITION LOCATION: TBA (MELBOURNE)

Overview

Davide Livermore’s radiant production is a thrilling theatrical experience. Ten towering digital screens
create ever-changing floor-to-ceiling set pieces. Immersive digital video design ranges from rich symbolism
to vivid landscapes. Opulent costumes and props reflect the splendour of Egypt at the height of its power.

Performers must be available for the entire season (including rehearsals), in Melbourne from: 24 April 2021
– 21 May 2021.

Pre-Rehearsals: 6 April – 9th April 2021 (Dancers only)


Wardrobe/Wig fittings: 14th / 15th May 2021 (Dancers only)
Production Rehearsals: 24th April – 28th April 2021 (Up to 5 calls)
Stage calls: 29th April 2021, Times TBA
30th April 2021, 10:30 – 18:30
1st May 2021, 10:30 – 18:00
4th May 2021, 10:30 (General Rehearsal)
Performances: 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 17, 19, 21 May 2021, 19:30
15 May 2021, 12:30

Please find below a casting brief detailing the role requirements for the production – please submit
accordingly.

Audition Brief & Information

DANCERS X 10 (FEMALE)
Must have strong contemporary dance technique.

Please note, successful auditionees must be comfortable wearing sheer, revealing costumes - please see
below for example.

In addition to the season dates above, dancers must have full availability for the following dates:
 Additional dance calls: Week commencing 6 – 10th April
 Dancer fittings (in Melbourne) – 14th/15th May

ACTORS X 10 (MALE)
To play various guard, prisoner and soldier characters.

Must be 175 to 185cm tall, athletic build; may be required to be shirtless.


Please note, successful auditionees must be comfortable performing masked, wearing large headdresses.

Please Note:
1. Artists should be available for the entire audition period. Any restrictions must be noted in the submission.
2. Auditions will take place in Melbourne only.
3. Auditionees may be photographed and recorded as part of their participation in the audition process for
casting purposes.
4. All dancers and actors must be Melbourne based for the duration of the contract.
