Key purpose  Painting interior and exterior walls of concrete buildings as well as
metal frames of doors and windows

Key Functions  Understand the work requirement

NOS Title  Prepare and perform colour matching
Key Performance Criteria  receive and interpret correctly the work instructions from
supervisor
 understand the job sheet for the colour required and target for
completion of work
 plan the work process in order to complete the colour matching in
time Collecting the required materials and equipment
 collect the paint to be tinted from the production department
 receive documents/details of product to be matched and the
standard
 estimate the amount of colourants and base material to be added
 arrange the required base colour, tinters, equipment, etc.
 ensure adequate stock of required materials in advance
 maintain record of the paint stock received for colour matching
and dispatched after colour matching
 accurately assess any colour difference as per the company’s
specifications
 add and mix the pigment pastes, tinters, colorants or base colours
with paints, enamels or lacquers in exact proportion in order to
match colours
 ensure that exact raw material in specified amounts are mixed
 ensure to diligently follow the formula and standard colour
samples in order to avoid wastage and mismatch
 compare samples using colorimeter/ spectro-photometer (colour
computer)
 repeat operation and make colour adjustments until the specified
colour is obtained
 test the colour obtained to match the specifications
 interpret the test results and calculate the required colour
adjustments/ additions
 send the samples to quality check for final colour, gloss, specific
gravity and viscosity tests
 analyze and resolve any complaints on colour
 maintain status of complaints in database such as complaint
analysis, action on complaints, etc.
 ensure to wear suitable personal protective equipment and use
the specified environmental safety equipment
 ensure accuracy of the desired colour
 ensure to achieve the batch card work order instructions on time
 clean and maintain the laboratory/work area and equipment
 ensure to operate the tinting equipment in a safe manner
 maintain detailed records of work orders, formulae and the
amount of ingredients added or mixed to obtain the desired
colour
 ensure 100% colour matching against the established colour
standards and quality
 ensure compliance to specified laboratory procedures for quality
check
 ensure to complete the colour matching in target time
 highlight any errors identified with the finished paint or tinter
 communicate any shortage or requirement of tint bases, test
panels and other materials

Key purpose  Operating the tumbling machine in order to obtain the desired
finish of finely ground powder paint as per company’s or
customer’s specifications

Key Functions  Understand the process work or doc-sheet
 Collect the ground powder paint
 Tumble the ground powder paint
 Complete the tumbling process
NOS Title  Tumble the ground powder paint
Key Performance Criteria  receive the process doc-sheet from the shift in-charge or
production supervisor
 understand the overall process flow
 understand the specific instructions pertaining to the air
classification mill operation
 assimilate the materials required
 plan for calibrating in line with process requirements and milling
machine manual
 carefully collect the ground and filtered powder paint
 ensure this is in appropriately named/marked discharge barrels
 move these barrels carefully to the tumbling area in the
production area
 place the barrels in optimal distances to ensure quick tumbling
process
 place the barrels in the tumbling machine
 put proper amount of solvents or other chemicals to ensure the
desired
 ensure to mix the right proportion/ratio of the solvents or other
chemicals are added to the ground powder paint
 switch on the tumbling machine
 visually evaluate the tumbling process
 add any other chemicals/compounds to the powder paint if
required by the formulation
 ensure the tumbling is done for the required amount of time
 ensure the powder paint reached desired characteristics
 switch-off the tumbling machine
 carefully remove the barrels from the machine
 move these barrels to area from which the packing and labelling
activities
 Clean the tumbling machine with appropriate tools and aids
 Use the appropriate cleaning chemicals
 Ensure the tumbling machine is ready for the next batch
