ECDIS V3.xx upgrade guide

Introduction

This guide describes how to upgrade current Danelec Marine DM800 ECDIS G2 and DM700 ECDIS
systems running software version 3.xx to a new version.

Who can perform the upgrade

Danelec Marine ECDIS has a unique software architecture enabling the user of the ECDIS to install
upgrades to the system in a simple and safe manner, without the assistance of service technician.

Tools needed

- A USB drive
- DM800 V3.xx upgrade file (.mbp file extension)

Important note

- Never attempt to upgrade the system while navigating at sea or at any time where the ECDIS
is required for navigation or safety related operations. Wait until vessel is in a safe position.

- During the upgrade procedure the ECDIS cannot be used for navigation.

- If there is more than one ECDIS system in the installation (cluster), the software upgrade must
be performed on all ECDIS stations.

- While performing the ECDIS upgrade on one ECDIS DPU all others DPUs in the ECDIS
cluster must be in standby mode to avoid any issues related to synchronization between
different software versions.

Step-by-step guidance

Preparation:

1. Download the Danelec_Marine_ECDIS_v3.xx.mbp.zip file from Danelec Marine’s website

(www.danelec-marine.com/ecdis-compliance/)
2. Unzip the file using a standard zip program
3. Copy the unzipped Danelec_Marine_ECDIS_v3.xx.mbp file to an USB drive

Upgrade:

1. Insert the USB drive in the USB port of the ECDIS

2. Go to the management menu

Main menuSettingsSystemManagement menu

Enter the Master password to open the menu. (Master password is set to “0000” by
default, unless it has been changed by the master of the vessel)

3. In the management menu select “Software upgrade”

4. Browse to Danelec_Marine_ECDIS_v3.xx.mbp file on the USB drive

5. Select “Start upgrade” in the lower right corner of the screen

6. Click “Yes”

7. The software upgrade will start

8. When completed click “reboot” to reboot the system.

9. After the reboot check the software version in:

Main menuSettingsSystemSystem information
