Experience Zumbiel Packaging, Mechanical Engineering Co-Op April 2018 – December 2019

• Supported Continuous Improvement projects across 18 machines during two co-op rotations
• Created MATLAB data analysis algorithm for consolidating machine performance data
• Conducted weekly and monthly machine performance data analysis
• Worked with an outside company to test and develop a new camera-based inspection system
o Tested and improved various vision algorithms
o Altered layout of the machine allowing more reliable inspection of 36 critical areas
• Redesigned automated palletizer to improve efficiency
o Conducted statistical studies on failed product
o Tested and helped determine best locations for photoelectric sensors, proximity
sensors, and 3D barcode scanners.
o Increased efficiency of palletizer from under 80% to over 99%
• Conducted statistical capability studies on Bobst die cutters and printing presses
• Worked with outside venders to update machine drives and PLC’s
• Programmed data acquisition devices and tied in new data acquisition software for all
machines
• Worked on oil and grease analysis and fluid change over
• Helped to incorporate new 300 hp air compressor into plants existing infrastructure

• Produced technical drawings in support of capital projects
• Helped lead a $3.1 million dryer upgrade project
o Worked with outside companies to purchase transmitters and valve positioners
o Conducted steam and condensation system testing
o Managed outside contractors to complete work on dryer project
• Designed database for tracking dryer rope sheaves
• Worked remotely (late March - August) due to COVID-19 pandemic
