What progress have you made toward completion of the plan?

We are completing our plan by implementing Not Your Mothers Sight Word instruction daily. We use the
list of sight words weekly, we use the provided PowerPoints, and sometimes use the Seesaw activities that
go with each week.

What are you learning?

We are noticing that the PowerPoints that go with the curriculum are sort of messy in that the blending
often has rules we haven’t introduced yet, making it hard to blend the words correctly. It also sometimes
has sight words/tricky words in the blending portion of the PowerPoint.

We are also noticing that it introduces a lot of sight words each week; way more than what is the typical
“two per week” best practice rule. We feel our students aren’t mastering all of the words because there are
so many being introduced weekly.

We do like the rule it has of placing a “heart” above the sounds that are tricky for sight words.

What impact is this learning having on you and your students?

It’s holding us accountable to actually teach sight words.

Some of our students are making connections beyond the week that it’s being taught.
They are utilizing the word wall more.

Explain any revisions needed?

Our goal is for them to grow 2 words per week.
