GOVERNMENT SHOULD FORBID SAME-SEX MARRIAGE

There are two concepts to which this speech revolves. First is the concept of
government and second, marriage. The government as we know is an institution or a
system made to take care or manage a country or a state while marriage is the
unification of spouses in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by
law. Now, what does the government say when the issue is about same-sex
marriage?
There have been countless attempts to legalize same-sex marriage in the
Philippines but the Supreme Court announced on January 6, 2020 that it had
dismissed the motion to reconsider its September 2019 ruling and effectively
concluded it with finality.
If the court decided the other way, honestly speaking, I would have totally lost my
faith and lambast the higher-ups as sanctity of marriage should be preserved in this
changing world.
Why did the LGBTQI+ community cried for legalization? Here is few of the known
claims:
1. It is claimed that no one chose to feel attracted in the same sex when they were
born. Loving people in the same sex is out of control and supressing feelings is an
example of emotional and mental abuse.
2. It is human rights to love, be loved, and be protected by the law. This also means
the right to have a sense of emotional, mental, and legal security. Moreover, it does
not in any way harm anybody.
3. Many developed countries have laws recognizing same-sex marriage.
Meanwhile, here are the reasons why the government should forbid:
1. Same-sex marriage is not typical. It is never the kind of family any child would
wish to grow up with. God placed man and woman together in order so that they fit
their differences together and educate their children in puberty which same-sex
couple will just never understand.
2. It is not natural for couple in the same sex to bear a child. It is for this reason that
mankind should realize that if God really blessed and permits this kind of marriage,
He would have devised a way. Insemination, surrogacy and the like are man-made
processes through science. Children should be products of love and not
experimentation.
3. It is a selfish act for couples to think they can build a happy family when their
respective families cannot even accept them and worst condemn them.
Nowadays, when human rights are used as excuses to same-sex marriages it is only
the government that can stop the ill idea of same-sex marriage. I strongly debunk the
former claims and stand by the latter reasons. The government should see that this
is not a trend to globalization, technology advancement or civilization. It is only the
government that can stop the contamination of the vicious open mindedness to
embrace immorality. Maybe, we can never stop people to see things differently. Just
maybe, there are still those who will still get attracted to same-sex and probably they
will keep these illicit relationships but having a government who stands up for the
right is a different story.
In this special time when the people took its toll on the wrong doings of the world and
in this time when people lost their trust to many deficient governments, taking the
courage to finally illegalized same-sex marriage and reinforced the law of God might
change the air we breathe.
When humans almost forgot what is right we turn to our only hope, the government
that we believed upholds only the best for its people.
The government is an institution through which leaders exercise power to make and
enforce laws while marriage means legally or formally recognized union of two
people as partners in a personal relationship. These are two concepts that these
speech has to be clear about.
