IIUM STUDENT UNION
ELECTION OF IIUM STUDENT UNION (2020)

In exercise of the powers conferred under the Constitution of the IIUM Student Union,
the Legislative Assembly makes the following regulations:

PART I
PRELIMINARY
Name
1. This Regulations shall be known as the Election of IIUM Student Union
Regulations (2020).

Interpretation

2. In this Regulations, unless the context otherwise requires—

“Academic year” means an academic term during which an educational institution


holds classes and assessment activities, constituting of two (2) regular semesters
and one (1) optional short semester. A regular semester run for seventeen (17)
weeks while a short semester lasts for nine (9) weeks;

“Active Student” means any full time undergraduate or postgraduate student of


the International Islamic University Malaysia;

“Campus” means Campus of the University that has at least three centres of
Studies;

“Committee” means Election Working Committee and Audit Committee;

“Constitution” means constitution of IIUM Student Union;

“Drawing lots” means the mechanism to determine who will win the election by
selecting a piece of paper from the container where a piece of paper is marked
and the candidate who picked the marked paper is the winner;

“Election Commission” means a committee that governs and determines any


matters relating to the IIUM Student Union Election;

“Election Process” means Nomination Day, Campaign, Polling, Counting;

“Examination” includes any manner or method of assessment which result in a


mark or a grade for a specific course or part of the specific course;

“E-voting” means the SU election as conducted by electronic and/or online means;

“Executive Assembly” means IIUM Student Union Committee;

“External student” means a student registered at a Campus outside Malaysia or


who is pursuing a short term, part-time, distance learning, exchange or allied
programme, whether in or outside Malaysia;

“Kulliyyah constituency” means an election area which is restricted to the


registered students of that Kulliyyah;

“Legislative Assembly” means IIUM student leader assembly as provided in the


Constitution;

“Polling Station Officer” means officer in charge of administrative function during


voting and counting process at the assigned polling station;

“Polling station” means an area determined by the IIUM SU Election Commission


for voting;

“Registered student” means a full-time active student who is following a
programme of study in the University, but shall not include an external student;

“Student Front” means any society, organizations, body or group of persons,


directly affiliated with any national or local political parties;

“SU” means IIUM Student Union of International Islamic University Malaysia;

“Voter” means a registered student of the IIUM Student Union;

“Voting” means a voting process determined by the Election Commission;

DETERMINATION OF SU ELECTION

Determination of SU election

3. (1) Without prejudice to other provisions relating to SU election, the Election


Commission shall –

(a) conduct SU election or to conduct re-election of SU;

(b) determine the date of SU election decided by majority of Election


Commission members by considering the relevancy of time preparation
both committees and candidates;

(i) the date shall be commenced after the Student Union executive
members completed one academic – year of their tenure;

(ii) the SU Election Commission shall have the veto on the date of
election of SU executive assembly.

(c) determine the election constituency, seat and the number of SU election
seats in the following manner:-

(i). President’s seat


(ii). Deputy President I seat
(iii). Deputy President II seat
(iv). Deputy President III seat
(v). Vice President I seat
(vi). Vice President II seat
(vii). Secretary seat
(viii). Assistant Secretary I seat
(ix). Assistant Secretary II seat
(x). Treasurer seat
(xi). Assistant Treasurer I seat
(xii). Assistant Treasurer II seat
(xiii). 15 Kulliyah seats

(d) organize the SU president’s debate.

(2) The SU election shall be conducted in the second regular semester in


every academic year.

(3) The members of the SU executive assembly shall hold the office for a
period of not more than one academic year.

PART III
COMMISSION, COMMITTEE AND TRIBUNAL

Establishment of Commission, Committee and Tribunal

4. For the purpose of SU election, the following Commission, Committees


and Tribunal are established at the University:-

(a) SU Election Commission;

(b) SU Election Working Committee;

(c) SU Election Tribunal; and

(d) SU Election Audit Committee.

Election constituency and seat

5. (1) For the purpose of SU election, the SU Election Commission may


determine the number of seats and constituency for the election.

(2) The Chairman of the SU Election Commission may determine the control
of the election at the seat and constituency.

SU Election Commission

6. (1) The Legislative Assembly shall appoint any member of the IIUM Student
Union as Chairman and members of the SU Election Commission for the
purpose of SU election from any Campus of the University provided that the
Election Commission shall not hold any active executive assembly position of
SU.

(2) The SU Election Commission shall consist of –

(a) Chairman;

(b) Vice Chairman I;

(c) Vice Chairman II;

(d) Vice Chairman III;

(e) Secretary I;

(f) Secretary II;

(g) Treasurer I;

(h) Treasurer II;

(i) Liaison officer(s)

(3) If the Chairman is unable to carry out his duties as Chairman of the SU
Election Commission on any grounds, the Election Commission may nominate
and elect any of the members of SU Election Commission to carry out the duties
of the Chairman for the duration of which the Chairman is unable to carry out
his duties.

(4) Quorum for any SU Election Commission meeting is two-third of its


members.

(5) The SU Election Commission shall have the overall responsibility over
the conduct of the election and shall have the powers to give orders and
directives to ensure safe and proper conduct of the election which include the
following –

(a) to determine the voting process of the election;

(b) to determine the polling stations;

(c) to take any action deemed suitable to ensure all the provisions in this
Regulations and other directions or orders are observed;

(d) to suggest on reasonable ground to the Chairman of the SU Election


Commission to postpone, call off or annul the SU election;

(e) to make and enforce any regulation(s), order(s) or rule(s) deemed


necessary by the SU Election Commission

(f) to carry out any other functions or powers provided under this
regulations; and

(g) to be a referral centre pertaining to any matters as to the conduct


of SU election.

SU Election Working Committee

7. (1) The members of the SU Election Working Committee of the respective


Campus of the University shall be appointed by the Chairman of the SU Election
Commission. The SU Election Working Committee shall not currently holding
any active Executive Assembly position in SU or in IIUM SU Election
Commission.

(2) The SU Election Working Committee may propose to the Vice Chairman
of the SU Election Commission to form any other sub-committees for the
smooth running of the election.

(3) The SU Election Working Committee shall have the functions and powers
as follows –

(a) to plan, administer, coordinate and monitor the SU election process


and all matters related thereto;

(b) to issue any instruction pertaining to the running of the SU election
and take any measures deemed fit for the smooth running of the
election;

(c) to collaborate with other officers or staff any respected institution,


body, entity, determine any documentation and equipment related
to SU election;

(d) to take appropriate action against any candidate, proposer or


seconder of the candidate’s nomination, as the case maybe, who
contravenes this Regulations.

(4) All matters pertaining to subsection (3) shall be referred to SU Election


Commission.

SU Election Tribunal

8. (1) The membership of the SU Election Tribunal shall consist of student(s)


of the University and officer(s) appointed by the Legislative Assembly. A
Chairman and a secretary shall be elected among the Election Tribunal.

(2) Any member appointed under sub-regulation (1) shall not be a


member of the Commission or Committee under Section 4, subsection (a), (b)
and (d).

(3) The appointed member(s) of the tribunal shall be any persons with
legal background from any respected institution, body or entity who shall be
appointed for such term as for such term as the Election Commission may
decide.

(4) The SU Election Tribunal shall have the jurisdiction all over the campuses
and shall have functions and powers as follows–

(a) to hear and decide appeal from any candidate, as the case maybe;

(b) to invite any person or student to obtain any information and fact
pertaining to the objection as to the conduct of the SU election; and

(c) to direct the Election Commission and Polling Station Officer to


submit any documents pertaining to SU election to the SU Election
Tribunal.

(5) The SU Election Tribunal shall make reference to the Tribunal Term of
References (TOR) in any decision making

(6) The decision of the SU Election Tribunal is final and conclusive.

SU Election Audit Committee

9. (1) The Chairman and members of the SU Election Audit Committee shall
be appointed by the Legislative Assembly from among the student(s) of the
University and officer(s) as the sufficient by the legislative assembly other
than members of the Commission, Committee or Tribunal under paragraphs
4(a), (b) and (c).

(2) The appointed member(s) of the audit committee shall be any persons
from any respected institution, body or entity who shall be appointed for such
term as the Election Commission may decide.

(3) The SU Election Audit Committee shall have the functions and powers
as follows–

(a) to confirm voters’ data;

(b) to confirm the data on aggregation of votes;

(c) to require any person to confirm and certify the voting system;

(d) to examine the voting system at the polling station at least once
before the voting commences.

(e) to examine the election process.

(4) The SU Election Audit Committee shall make reference to the Audit
Committee Term of References (TOR) in any decision making.

(5) Any confirmation by the SU Election Audit Committee as to the data


under subsection (a),(b),(c),(d),(e) on the voters and aggregation of votes shall
be final and conclusive.

Prohibition for Commission, Committee and Tribunal

10. The Election Commission, Committee and Tribunal are prohibited from
promoting and involving in the campaign of any candidates.

PART IV
NOTIFICATION OF SU ELECTION

Announcement of date of SU Election

11. The Chairman of the SU Election Commission shall notify the date of
election to the SU Election Working Committee and announce such date to the
IIUM Community.

Notice of Announcement

12.(1) The notice on the announcement of the SU election shall only be issued
by the Chairman of the SU Election Commission or his representatives through
notice or other means by which every student shall be able to take notice of
the SU Election.

(2) The notice on the announcement of the SU election shall include–

(a) date and time of nomination;

(b) date and time of voting; and

(c) any other matters relating to the SU election.

(3) The subsequent notice on the SU Election shall be issued by the SU


Election Commission which shall include –

(a) qualification to be a candidate;

(b) number of seats and constituencies;

(c) number of representatives from each seats and constituency;

(d) period of nomination;

(e) canvassing procedures;

(f) polling date and polling stations; and

(g) any other matter pertaining to the SU election.

PART V
NOMINATION OF CANDIDATE

Qualification of candidate

13.(1) For the purpose of SU election, any registered student who is not
disqualified from being elected under the Constitution, this Regulations, orders
or directions, qualifies to be a candidate.

(2) The candidates who are contesting in the IIUM Student Union Election
must fulfil the following conditions–

(a) student is a member of IIUM Student Union;

(b) students who have obtained a CGPA of not less than 2.80 at the
time of nomination and not less than 3.00 for the president’s seat
at the time of nomination;

(c) students who have completed at least one regular semester and
have yet to undergo at least one academic year to graduate
from the university;

(d) students who have not been required to repeat one or more
semesters;

(e) students who by leadership qualities serve as good examples to


others by completing the candidate workshop;

(f) students who have never been found guilty and convicted of any
disciplinary offence under Students' Discipline Rules 2004
(Amendment 2006) except for compoundable offences;

(g) students who are of good moral character and who observe the
Islamic code of conduct as required by the University Rules and
Regulations;

(h) candidate is not the members of Election Commission, Election


Working Committee, Election Tribunal Committee, Election
Audit Committee; Legislative Assembly; and

(i) Any other qualifications as may be determined by Election


Commission from time to time.

(3) Notwithstanding to subsection (2), students who hold positions in


other societies/clubs or Mahallah may contest in the IIUM Student Union
Election;

Disqualification of candidate

14.(1) Candidate shall be disqualified if only he/she is not fulfilled the


qualification criteria by Election Commission or;

(2) Any conduct of candidate that contravenes the provision of the Students'
Discipline Rules 2004 (Amendment 2006) or;

(3) Any conduct of candidate that contravenes the provision of any


regulations determine by the Election Commission or;

(4) Upon the succession of disqualification, the result of disqualification shall


be endorsed by tribunal and announce by Election Commission to the
University.

Restriction on candidacy

15.(1) Any candidate for the SU election shall stand for election on individual
capacity and not representing any student front in which the Election
Commission determine to be unsuitable to the interest and well-being of the
students of the University.

(2) A candidate shall stand for election for one (1) constituency or one (1)
seat only.

(3) A candidate must be a registered active student of the University and a


registered member of SU;

(4) For Kulliyyah constituency, the candidate shall be a registered active


student of that Kulliyyah;

(5) A candidate shall not be a proposer or a seconder to the nomination of


other candidate.

Registration of candidate

16.(1) Any registered student who wishes to stand for the SU election may be
present and obtain the specified forms for the purpose of nomination at a
location determined by the SU Election Commission.

(2) A reasonable payment may be charged for the nomination form.

(3) A registered student who wishes to obtain the nomination form shall
produce his student matric card, proof of SU membership and latest
examination slip.

Submission of candidate nomination form

17.(1) The candidate for any seat and constituency shall together with his
proposer and seconder be present to submit the certified nomination form and
other related documents on the date at the time and place determined by the
SU Election Working Committee.

(2) Notwithstanding subsection (1), the submission of nomination form


shall be determined by the SU Election Commission by using any medium
deemed fit.

(3) Before a candidate submits his nomination form under subsection (1),
the candidate shall deposit a sum of money as determined by the SU Election
Commission.

(4) A nomination form submitted after the deadline of nomination period


shall not be accepted.

(5) The nomination form shall be submitted together with such number of
passport photographs of the candidate as determined by the SU Election
Commission.

(6) An incomplete or incorrectly completed nomination form is not valid.

(7) The candidate shall submit his nomination form together with the receipt
of the payment of deposit.

(8) The SU Election Commission may call any candidate, proposer or


seconder to obtain further information relating to the candidate’s nomination
form, if necessary.

(9) Where any candidate, proposer or seconder fails to appear before the
SU Election Commission under subsection (1) without any reasonable excuse,
the nomination shall be rejected.

Announcement of qualified candidates

18. When all the certified nomination forms are submitted to the SU Election
Commission, the list of candidates according to the contested election seat and
constituency shall be announced at the nomination centre within the period
specified or any other method deemed fit by the SU Election Commission.

Objection to candidacy

19. (1) Any candidate(s) running for the SU election may object any nomination
of a candidate to the Chairman of the SU Election Commission within the period
as specified by the SU Election Commission by filling in a designated form
provided by the SU Election Commission.

(2) Objection to any nomination may be made based on the following


grounds–

(a) a candidate is not eligible to be elected as SU committee;

(b) a candidate submits false information in the candidate’s nomination


form;

(c) the candidate’s nomination form does not comply with any of the
provision of these Regulations.

(3) The SU Election Commission shall as soon as is reasonably possible on


the nomination day decide on the validity of every objection submitted and
inform the candidate and the student who submitted the objection of such
decision. The commission may invite any person to clarify and verify any issues
related to the objection. The decision on such objection made by SU Election
Commission shall be final and conclusive.

(4) If the objection is found to be valid by the SU Election Commission, the
nomination of the candidate shall be rejected.

Withdrawal of candidacy

20.(1) A candidate may withdraw from SU election at any time by submitting


his withdrawal form to the SU Election Commission before the final list of
candidates eligible to stand for SU election under Regulation 2020 is
announced.

(2) A withdrawal form submitted to the SU Election Commission after the


final list of candidates eligible to stand for election under Regulation 2020 shall
not be accepted.

Final announcement of qualified candidates

21. The final list of candidates eligible to stand for election which has been
verified by the Chairman of the SU Election Commission shall be announced
and displayed at the nomination centre of the university or any other method
deemed fit.

Uncontested candidates

22.(1) If the number of candidates standing for election for a seat or Kulliyyah
constituency is equal to or less than the number of representatives for the said
seat or Kulliyyah constituency, the said candidate shall be declared won
uncontested.

(2) In the absence of a candidate from a seat or constituency, the


Legislative Assembly may appoint any active student and member of SU to
become an Executive Assembly member(s) proposed by the incumbent
Executive Assembly

SU ELECTION CAMPAIGN

Campaign

23.(1) The SU Election Working Committee shall be responsible for supervising


and monitoring the running of the election campaign.

(2) A candidate, a proposer, seconder of a candidate’s nomination and any


registered student of University may campaign in the manner and within the
specified period, subject to the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the
University, these Regulations and orders or directions issued by SU Election
Commission.

Posters, banners, etc.

24.(1) No candidate, proposer or seconder of a candidate’s nomination shall


print, exhibit or distribute any posters, banners or use any electronic medium
or other medium for campaign purposes without prior written permission by
the SU Election Commission.

(2) Failure to comply with subsection (1), the candidate, proposer or


seconder will be subjected to the investigation by the SU Election Tribunal.

PART VII
SU ELECTION

Polling day

25.(1) Voting shall be conducted on the date, time, place or any other
medium(s) as specified by the SU Election Commission.

(2) The SU Election Working Committee may exhibit a notice containing
voting guidelines at the Polling Centre prior to the election.

(3) A voter shall produce his student card or proof of SU membership or any
other evidence verifying his status as a registered student of the University and
a member of SU during the process of registration before he is allowed to vote.

(4) If any dispute arises during the polling day, the Polling Station Officer or
any officer authorized by the SU Election Commission shall make a decision on
the said dispute.

Polling Station Officer

26.(1) The Chairman of SU Election Commission shall appoint Polling Station


Officer who shall supervise the voting process at the respective kulliyyah of the
University.

(2) Notwithstanding subsection (1), the power conferred to the Polling


Station Officer will be suspended in the event of e-voting.

Permission to enter Polling Stations, etc.

27.(1) No person shall be present at the Polling Station without prior permission
from the Polling Station Officer.

(2) The number of voters permitted to enter the Polling Station at any one
time shall be determined by the Polling Station Officer.

(3) All candidates, proposers and seconders of candidate’s nomination shall


comply with all direction or orders given by the respective Polling Station
Officer.

(4) The Polling Station Officer shall ensure the peace and order at the Polling
Station.

(5) If any person causes disturbance, annoyance or any other acts which in
the opinion of the Polling Station Officer may interfere with the smooth running
of the voting process, the Polling Station Officer or any officer at the Polling
Station may direct the said person to leave the Polling Station immediately.

(6) The power conferred under sub regulation (5) shall not be exercised to
the extent of denying the right of a registered student to vote.

Prohibition on Polling Day, etc.

28.(1) No candidate, proposer, seconder of candidate’s nomination or voter is


allowed to–

(a) carry out any form of campaign either written, oral, digital and any
other medium that the SU Election Commission deemed fit during
the polling day within and without the Campus of the University;

(b) portray an identity which symbolizes the identity of any group;

(c) behave unethically at the area of Polling Station;

(d) disrupt the voting process in any other manner including–

(i) attempt to gain and plead for vote; or

(ii) distribute candidate’s list name to the voters; or

(iii) make noise or any form of disturbance in Polling Station’s


surrounding; or

(iv) disturbing or obstructing the SU Election Working
Committee or officer of the Polling Station from doing his job.

(e) vote more than once; or

(f) bring any document or prohibited items as determined by the SU


Election Working Committee into the Polling Station except
document or items approved by the SU Election Working Committee.

(g) or any other conduct(s) deemed fit by the SU Election Commission.

(2) A candidate, proposer, seconder of candidate’s nomination or any other


voters may lodge a complaint regarding any matters under this regulation to
the Polling Station Officer or any other person authorized by SU Election
Commission.

(3) The Polling Station Officer or any other person authorized by SU Election
Commission shall decide on the complaint received under subsection (2).

(4) Any candidate, proposer, seconder of candidate’s nomination or any


other voter who is dissatisfied with the decision of the Polling Station Officer
under subsection (3) may complaint to the SU Election Commission.

Voting and aggregation of votes by ballot papers

29.(1) The SU Election Working Committee shall provide adequate ballot box
and ballot papers for each Polling Station.

(2) Prior to commencement of voting, the Polling Station Officer shall verify
in the presence of the candidate, proposer, seconder of candidate’s nomination

or any registered student of respective kulliyyah that each ballot box to be used
during voting is empty.

(3) If there is no candidate, proposer, seconder of candidate’s nomination


or any registered student of respective kulliyyah present during the verification
under subsection (2), the Polling Station Officer may proceed with the voting
process until completed.

(4) The ballot papers are confidential and shall be kept in a secured place
and distributed on the polling day only.

(5) The SU Election Commission shall determine the place and process of
aggregation of votes.

(6) Any candidate, proposer or seconder of candidate’s nomination may


submit an objection in writing against the result of the aggregation of votes to
the Chairman of SU Election Commission.

(7) Any objection under subsection (6) may be made after the official
announcement of the result of the aggregation of votes.

(8) Notwithstanding subsection (1) to (7), the SU Election Commission may


determine that voting and aggregation of votes to be carried out by e-voting.

PART VIII
AGGREGATION OF VOTES

Centre for aggregation of votes

30.(1) Aggregation of votes shall be conducted at a place specified by the SU


Election Commission.

(2) The Polling Station Officer shall ensure the ballot box be delivered
securely to the centre for aggregation of votes if the counting process is not
conducted at the respective polling station.

(3) No person shall be present at the centre for aggregation of votes without
prior permission of the SU Election Commission.

(4) Notwithstanding subsection (3), the following persons are permitted to


be present at the centre for aggregation of votes–

(a) Polling Station Officer;

(b) all members of the Commission, Committees and Tribunal appointed


under Regulation 4;

(c) any officer or staff of the University appointed by the SU Election


Commission;

(d) candidate or proposer or seconder of candidate’s nomination.

(e) external observer appointed by Election Commission.

(5) Pursuant to Section 29, subsection (8), the SU Election Commission may
determine an alternative for the aggregation of votes in the case of e-voting.

Head of Vote Aggregation

31.(1) The SU Election Commission shall appoint a Head of Vote Aggregation


from among Polling Station Officer or any other person authorized by the SU
Election Commission.

(2) The Head of Vote Aggregation shall –

(a) aggregate the votes from all the Polling stations before being
audited;

(b) acknowledge the receipt of ballot boxes if the counting process is


not conducted at the respective polling station; and

(c) shall ensure necessary facilities to enable the smooth-running of the


aggregation of votes.

(3) Notwithstanding subsection (1) and (2), the power conferred to the
Head of Vote Aggregation will be suspended in the event of e-voting.

Announcement of results of the aggregation of votes

32.(1) Prior to the completion of the aggregation of votes, the result of the
aggregation of votes shall be endorsed by a representative of every
candidate.

(2) Upon completion of the aggregation of votes, the Chairman of the SU


Election Commission or his representative shall as soon as possible, announce
the results of the votes.

(3) If –

(a) the number of votes between the candidates in an election


constituency is equal, a recount shall be conducted; or

(b) there is a difference of one percent or less in the number of votes


obtained between a successful candidate whose number of votes
is the least among the other successful candidates, and the
unsuccessful candidate who has obtained the highest number of

votes from among the unsuccessful candidates, the Polling
Station Officer at respective Kulliyyah, upon the request by the
said unsuccessful candidate, direct the recount of votes.

(4) If the result of the recount of the votes under subsection (2)(a) is equal,
a winner shall be decided by drawing lots in the presence of the chairman of
SU Election Commission and candidates according to the methods determined
by the SU Election Commission.

(5) If–

(a) the results of recounting of votes under subsection (3)(a) differs


and the difference is one percent or less; or

(b) the results of recounting of votes under subsection (3)(b) differs


and the difference is one percent or less, upon the request of the
candidate who obtained the highest number of votes in the
original aggregation of votes, there shall be a recounting of votes.

(6) The result of recounting of votes under subsection (4) shall be final and
conclusive.

(7) The Head of Polling Station Officer may defer the recounting of votes
under subsection (3) and (5) provided such deferment of recounting shall not
affect the whole SU election process subject upon approval of the Chairman of
Election Commission.

(8) Upon the completion of the recounting of votes, the Chairman of the SU
Election Commission shall as soon as possible, announce the results.

(9) Recounting of votes under this regulation shall apply to voting and
aggregation of votes by ballot paper only.

Objection and Appeal of the SU election result

33.(1) Any candidate who is not satisfied with the result of votes under Section
32 using the designated form to the Chairman of Election Commission within
the 48 hours as specified in the election notice under Section 12.

(2) The SU Election Tribunal shall decide on the objection and inform the
objector, the person against whom objection is made, on such decision.

(3) Once the SU Election Tribunal has issued a decision, the decision shall
be final and conclusive.

(4) Subject to subsection (3), the Election Commission has the right to re-
conduct or re- election.

PART IX
DECLARATION OF SU ELECTION RESULT AND ELECTION OF THE SU OFFICE
COMMITTEE

Declaration

34. The Chairman of the IIUM Student Union Election Commission or any member
of SU Election Commission authorized by the Chairman shall declare and
display the result of the SU election by any means which is deemed
reasonable within two days.

Extension period of the SU Office Committee and Caretaker

35. The President of SU Executive Assembly may, if they deem appropriate-

(a) Extend, upon the endorsement of the Legislative Assembly, the


tenureship of the existing Executive Assembly to be a caretaker

of the SU until new office bearers of the Executive Assembly are
appointed; or

(b) Appoint, upon the endorsement of the Legislative Assembly, any


other students to be the caretaker of the SU until new office
bearers of the Executive Assembly are elected.

PART X
GENERAL

Validity of action in the absence of the candidate, etc

36. No act done or decision made under this Regulations shall be questioned on
the ground that such act or decision was done or made in the absence of the
candidate, proposer and seconder of candidate’s nomination if the said act or
decision is done or made in good faith.

Amendment of Regulations

37. The SU Election Commission may amend any provision of this Regulations
with the endorsement of the Legislative Assembly.

Security supervision

38. The monitoring and overall supervision of the security of the SU election shall
be the responsibility of the officer in charge of the security affairs of the
University.

Disciplinary action

39. Any student who contravenes any provisions in this Regulations shall be liable
to disciplinary action under the relevant disciplinary rules subject to the
discretion of the SU Election Tribunal.

Repeal

40. With the endorsement of the Legislative Assembly, The SRC Election Rules
and Regulation 2020 hereby repealed.
