Performance Task
3rd Quarter
AY 2020-2021
Names: Shiva Matthew V. Cruz
Gr. & Sec.: 11-STEM 5
PART 1: Mini Task 1
 Insert your answers in MT 1 here. You are allowed to modify or change your submitted MT1.

1. Title of the Game: Can you guess me?

2. How to Play (The game mechanics must be presented in BULLET form.)
 There are 4 rows and 3 columns full of cards that are flipped over
 Try to find three pairs. If you can successfully find the three pairs, you have the option to get the
prize now or risk it all to get a bigger one.
3. How to Win
 If you can find three pairs of the same number, same class, then you win! But, you have the option
to get your prize now, or risk it all for a bigger one.
 The more correct pairs you can find, the bigger the prize! And if you can get it all, you receive the
ultimate prize!
4. How many outcomes are there. (Include your solution)
Solution
S = {2,3,4,5,6}
Answer:

S 2 3 4 5 6

P(S) 1 8 1 8 1
11 33 3 11 11

4C2 1
S(2) = =
12C 2 11
(4 C 1)(4 C 1) 8
S(3) = =
12C 2 33
4 C 2+ ( 4 C 1 ) (4 C 1) 1
S(4) = =
12C 2 3
(4 C 1)(4 C 1) 8
S(5) = =
12C 2 33
4 C2 1
S(6) = =
12 C 2 11

5. List all possible outcomes. (If there are too many possible outcomes, just include at least 10 of the
outcomes)
1. 10 of Hearts x 10 of Hearts
2. 5 of spades x 6 of Hearts
3. Ace of spades x 3 of clubs
4. 3 of clubs x 2 of hearts
5. 8 of diamonds x of 8 of diamonds
6. Ace of diamonds x 3 of clubs
7. 4 of hearts x Ace of Clubs
8. 8 of hearts x 5 of diamonds
9. 4 of clubs x 2 of spades
10. 5 of spades x 4 of clubs

6. Choose and define a Random Variable from your set of possible outcomes.
1
The number of pairs that can be formed in S=2 is because it shows the number of pairs that can be
11
possible formed.

7. List the possible values of the Random Variable

PART 2: PERFORMANCE TASK (50 points)

1. Construct the Discrete Probability Distribution. (Include your solution for computing the Probability)
Variance
1 8 1 2 8 1
(
σ 2 = 22 x
11)(
32 x
33 )(
42 x
3
5 x )(
11
62 x )(
11
−0.352 )
σ 2=0.230

2. Solve for the Mean and Standard Deviation. (Include your solution)

Mean

1 8 1 8
μ=∑ (2 x )(3 x )( 4 x ¿ )(5 x ) ¿ ¿)
11 33 3 11
μ=0.35
Standard Deviation

1 8 1 2 8 1
√(
σ = 22 x
11) 33(
(3 ¿ ¿2 x ¿ ) 4 2 x )(
3
5 x
11 )(
62 x
11 )
−0.352 ¿ ¿

σ =0.48
3. Interpret the Mean and Standard Deviation.
The mean of the probability of distribution is 0.35. This implies that the average numbers of pairs that will
be formed is 0.35.
The standard deviation of the probability is 0.48. This implies that on the average, the number of pairs
found is 0.48 from the mean 0.35.
4. Can you conclude that your game is fair? (Show your solution in identifying if your game is fair or not)
Our game is not fair because you have a below you have a below 50% of not winning and you have to pay
for every attempt you take which per attempt has 3 tries.
