I. Project Title

Be Healthy, Be Sustainable Do Urban Gardening

II. Rationale
Urban gardening reduced the used of pesticides on the crop and reduced carbon emission during
the transportation of fruits and vegetables, urban gardening helps us to become more resourceful
in terms of food in the middle of pandemic. This activity does not only served as an outreach
project of the NSTP class as mandated, but an endeavour that would exposed them to actual field
work which will enrich their experience while helping the Municipality of Rosario La Union to
increase vegetable supply in the market due to the slow food movement.
III. Objectives
General Objective
The general objective of this activity is to encourage the people of Municipality of Rosario to do
urban gardening
• Aims to increase student awareness and interest in terms of the importance of urban
gardening with the help of local governments unit of Rosario.
• Aim to become resourceful municipality
• Helps people to become educated in terms of growing their own food
• To implement and educate the people about sustainable food and the benefits of it
IV. Description of the Activity
This activity will be conducted by the Bachelor of Science in Development Communication
students, particularly the NSTP 22, First year students, section B, in collaboration with LGU
Rosario La union.
The primary activity is to distribute vegetables seeds specifically low land vegetables.
Maintenance of the seed will also be done to ensure its germination rate. These seeds will then
be kept in a DA in the local government to help those who are willing to partake the urban
gardening.
As such, this project shall be under the supervision of Sir Cesar Gatchalian the brgy. Captain of

I. Materials Needed

1. 10, 000 pieces of different varieties low land vegetable seeds

2. Coco peat, carbonized rice hull and mix soil
3. Gardening tools like hoe, gardening gloves, fork shovel, rake and etc.

VII. Source of Fund

All materials needed for the activity shall be provided by LGU Rosario, through the
Department of Agriculture.
Food and conveyance to and from the project site shall be provided by the Department
of agriculture /LGU Rosario , La Union, while labor will be the counterpart of BSDC 1-B
students of Benguet State University.
