Installing and Licensing SPSS 17

Insert the CD. Unless autorun is disabled on your computer, you should see:

Click on Install SPSS Statistics 17.0

You will see:

Select Site License.

Click on Next
Click next to "accept the terms in the license agreement".
Click on the Next button.
You will then see:

You are now viewing the Readme Information.

When you are ready, click on Next.
Complete the Customer Information dialog:

Your name here

8 digit product serial number listed on license certificate

Click on Next.
You will see:

Choose your preferred Help Language option.

Click on Next
You will see:

Accept the default install folder location and click on Next.

You will see:

Click on Install.
You will see:
As you wait, you will see the status change:

When the installation is complete, you will be prompted to license and register SPSS.

Click on OK.
You will see:

Click next to "License my product now".

You can verify what the authorization code is supposed to look like by clicking on the
link to example codes:

You should refer to your SLIC License Certificate Agreement to obtain your
authorization codes. You might have more than one code if you licensed additional
SPSS products in addition to the Base product.
This code will consist of a combination of lower case letters and numeric digits.
These codes are entered in separately.
To continue, click on Next.
 Enter the long authorization code from your license certificate

Enter the first code. You can then click on the link to "enter additional codes" if you wish.
When you are done, click on Next.

Click on Next.
Click on Finish.

Click on Exit to leave the SPSS installation CD's list of items.

If you forgot to enter your additional codes, run the License Authorization Wizard.
For example, go to Start > All Programs > SPSS Inc > Statistics 17.0 …
Select the SPSS Statistics 17.0 License Authorization Wizard

You will see:

Click on Next. You will see:

Click next to "License my product now". Click on Next.

Click on the link to "enter additional codes" if you have more than one code left to enter.

You will see:

Enter the long authorization code from your license certificate

Enter the code in the box then click on the Add button.
When you are done, click on Next.
Click on Next.

When it is done, click on Finish.

SPSS might open a web page to encourage you to verify or create an SPSS.com
account. This is an optional step.
