This document provides a summary of the landscape design for an industrial site in Dahej, Gujarat. The 27.6 hectare site was master planned with vehicular traffic on the periphery and pedestrian areas at the core. Buildings were sited based on use and function, and the landscape seamlessly connects architecture and considers the local climate. Stormwater is managed through swales and directs water to retention areas. Native trees and plantings appropriate for spaces were selected to provide structure and variety across the site.

manner such that all vehicular movement was concentrated along the periphery; the core of the space was reserved for pedestrian movement. This allows for experiencing the various landscapes that have been created across the campus. •There have been three principles in the master planning of the land, and siting of the buildings. 1. architecture and landscape have found ways in which to seamlessly connect with one another; 2. buildings have been sited on the basis of the extent of their use, and function; 3. climate has been a constant consideration for the planning of the land. Site overview:
•The landscape is a result of site
analysis, hydrological studies, and slope analysis of the land in question. •The land for the industry is lower than the adjacent roads; it uses grading to ensure efficient management of water. Entrance plaza: Ceremonial axis: EBA plaza : Brahmasthan : The space around the Brahmsthan has been designed as an elliptical walkway around two graded spaces with three banyan trees, which were the only existing trees on site, at their centre. Water harvesting as aesthetic element:
A substantial portion of the land was
occupied by a pond. This became the central nucleus around which all other spaces were planned. Storm water was managed exclusively with swales such that all the water was directed towards a large water body or smaller retention areas. These appear as ascending bowls, and merge seamlessly with the manner in which the landscape is presented. Congregation space : Just as the landscape has taken into consideration the many functions of shade, screening and biodiversity,it has also taken into consideration the maintainibility of the grounds. Some part of the effluents have been treated through bio-remediation, using a root zone installation of selected plants.
Planting material has been
selected keeping in mind the spaces that people traverse on a regular basis; the planting takes many moods -some very structured , others wilder providing a continuous interplay.
