PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The chapel is dedicated to San Pedro Calungsod. It is located on an elevated lot within the SM Cebu Seaside City Complex. It was the first structure built on
the complex, which essentially reflects a practice during the time of the Spaniards when towns around the archipelago were built around a church. The
chapel was designed to pay homage to the dynamic spirit of Cebu, which is gradually becoming the heart of the design culture of the Philippines.3

Movement System of the Site

Road Layout

The road layout was neatly place in curvilinear layout with an

Advantage of lesser traffic pressure. It was position around the SM mall.

Surrounding the single big establishment in the area gives the road

networks more advantage to spread in such a way that the layout

would benefit the traffic system.

Site Access

The site can be access directly from the north side of the complex from

the Cebu City Downtown and also for the users who came exactly from the

SM commercial building, there is a direct road coming from the Building

To the chapel.

Pedestrian Access

Since the site is located within the seaside complex of SM Cebu,

The surrounding road networks are not that busy not like the

Cebu downtown. This makes the pedestrian access much safer

For the users.

Vehicular Access

The road network layout and position give great benefits to the
Fig 6.4 – Site Development Plan pedestrian and vehicular access. The vehicles can access the

site through the front smoothly and will be welcome by the

structure’s façade. The parking was strategically divide into two

parts, The front parking which accommodates lesser number of

cars and the underground parking which accommodates much

more vehicles. The two parking has different elevations,

The front parking is elevated higher than the rear underground

parking and they are connected through a long ramp pathway

for vehicles only.

Site Context

The movement system is very neatly done except for the front

parking. The front parking lot offers minimal parking services and in

terms of the vehicle circulation it would have been much better if

the position of the parking slots was situated on the sides of the left

and right islands and not in the center for the users not to distract

the flow of traffic when they get out of the car, Plus its much safer

because there is no road crossing involve.
