Rhetorical Analysis Summary
Rhetorical Analysis Summary

Firstly, I enjoyed writing the Rhetorical Analysis assignment for this class because I was
able to choose my own article to analyze. Even though I made numerous mistakes in my rough
drafts and even the final draft. I never realized how long the drafting process should be until I
started writing or this class. With the rhetorical analysis there was a huge learning curve. As
previously mentioned, many mistakes were made through the writing process. Improper sentence
structure, comma-splices, run-on sentences, poor word choice, etc. One of the biggest problems I
encountered while drafting this essay was properly quoting the article. Even through the final
draft there some mistakes, though significantly less than previous drafts. So, through the writing
process I learned how to better quote, paraphrase, and summarize articles. I also learned how
parenthetical citations works, and that sometimes, even if the source has already been fully
introduced, parenthetical citations may still be needed. Further, I also looked more in depth at
how to do a works cited page and how those citations should be formatted. Compared to how I
used to do citations, they look much different further into my composition education. Moreover,
I also learned how incredibly important it is to use peer editing and revising as a tool to one’s
success. The utilization of peer editing throughout the writing process greatly enhanced my
analysis and as a product I am a better writer for it. In future essays I will make sure to apply all
the things I learned from writing the rhetorical analysis essay, SARs, and even the weekly
summaries so that I can write to the best of my ability and do my topic of choice justice. I

believe one of the most important revision techniques I learned was related to self-revision. Take
a break every once in a while, and come back to read it again with a fresh perspective.
