ING206 Foundation of Translation

The course develops students' knowledge of the basic theory, concept, and technique of
translation both form Indonesian language to English and English to Indonesian language.
Students will learn the fundamentals of translation in a variety of fields: legal, medical,
literary, business, commercial, media, and other domains. Various models and types of
translation, as well as translation strategies and techniques are discussed. Students are
familiarized with the role of and functions of translator in the process of intercultural
communication. They are introduced to some intricacies of translation as a profession (for
example, standards and ethics of the profession).

ING207 Foundation of Interpreting

The course develops students' knowledge of the basic theory, concept, and technique of
interpreting both form Indonesian language to English and English to Indonesian language.
Students will learn the fundamentals of interpreting in a variety of fields: legal, medical,
literary, business, commercial, media, and other domains. Various modes and types of
interpreting, as well as interpreting strategies and techniques are discussed. Students are
familiarized with the role of and functions of interpreter in the process of intercultural
communication. They are introduced to some intricacies of interpretation as a profession (for
example, standards and ethics of the profession).

ING208 Foundation of ESP

This course provides students with an overview of the origins and development of ESP and
how to fits it into English language teaching. In addition, the students may be given the basic
principles and techniques in course design to fit the needs of a particular group of learners.
The course also is concerned with the practical applications of the course design in the form
of a syllabus, materials, methodology and assessment and how to manage the English
Language Teaching program as well.

ING209 Foundation of EYL

This course provides students with basic working knowledge of the characteristics of young
learners, curriculums of pre-school and primary school, teaching language skills and
components to young learners, instructional media for young learners, assessment for
language skills and components, and lesson plans.
