INTRODUCTION

What is COVID-19?
The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused
by a new strain of coronavirus. This new virus and disease were
unknown before the outbreak began in Wuhan, China, in December
2019. The virus that causes COVID-19 is mainly transmitted through
droplets generated when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or
exhales. These droplets are too heavy to hang in the air, and quickly
fall on floors or surfaces.
This virus putting impact in every sector of everyones life and every
country’s economic sector. It is also putting and impact in textile
industries and wet processing sector.

What is wet processing ?

Wet processing is one of the major streams in textile engineering

refers to textile chemical processing.Textile wet processing is the
process that use in any finishing treatment. Where, this process is
applied on textile in form of liquid with involves some for chemical
action on the textile.
Examples: bleaching, dyeing ,printing and printing.
Covid-19 and wet processing

Pandemic COVID-19 has change the global economy completely.

According to the report BGMEA (Bangladesh Garment
Manufacturers and Exporters Association),textile sector of
Bangladesh has lost more than $3.18 billion due to order cancellation,
till half of the month of June. We know that there are 500-700 wet
processing units in Bangladesh. But for this corona pandemic almost
many wet processing unit going to be closed because many garments
cancel their order. And on the other hand those workers lost their jobs
because garments production decrease. Income rate already down in
this sector. According to reports from the government of Bangladesh,
29,369 garment workers have been laid off, but union leaders have
said that the numbers are much higher

Economic Problems
The textile wet processing industry is a chemicals based industry.
There are number of company or suppliers supply the chemicals in the
Bangladesh, Some of their Bangladeshi suppliers and some of their
foreigner company. So there is a vast market demand in textile
chemicals. We already know that the whole world in this economic
crisis. So our wet processing unit also in this list. Sometimes we need
some chemical which we import from foreign countries. But for
Covid’19, we failed to import. It is must to say that our economic rate
decrease.
Import and Export problem for Covid-19 in
Bangladesh

Bangladesh’s import and export volumes in April nosedived as the

coronavirus pandemic took hold, new data shows. Last month, export
volumes through Chittagong port fell 87% and imports were down
22% a crippling blow for the impoverished South Asian nation of
160m people. According to figures from Chittagong Customs House,
April saw 1.24m tones of goods exported through the port, compared
with over 2.89m tones in April last year. And 6.65m tones of goods
were imported last month against 8.43m tones a year ago.
Garment makers and economists have expressed grave concern and
fear further deterioration as the deadly virus continues to expand its
grip globally. Retail shops in Europe and the US, the major importers
of Bangladeshi products, have started reopening, but on a limited
scale, with a return to previous levels of economic activity still in the
distance.
However, some Bangladesh garment factories reopened this month,
but most commercial activities remain closed as the Covid-19-linked
shutdown, which began on 26 March, is extended until 16 May.
Conclusion:

Whole world faces this pandemic situation. It is true that we have to

accept this and lead our life. Buyers need to stop canceling orders and
give opportunities to factories. And factories need to be digitized and
make sure the safety of workers and products. And if we use virus
protecting garments than it will be a great success for wet processing
sector of textile industry. Every country facing economical problem.
So we have to accept this situation and going forward.
