The diagram below illustrates about the changes in the birth and death rates in New Zealand for

two
centuries. It is measured in thousands.

Overall, it can be explained that the highest rates of birth and death were in 1961 and 2061.
Meanwhile the lowest for both category was in the early of 19th century.

Firstly, the birth rates in the early 19th century was increased markedly below 50 thousand and
reached the peak which accounted for 65 thousands in the middle of 19 th century. Although, there
were slight decrease into 49 thousand for babies that were born in the early 20 th century. This trend
will continue and hit the number of 41 thousand in the next century.

On the other side, the death rates was increased gradually from 20 thousand in the early of 19’s
century until it climbed into the highest growth around 59 thousand in 2061. In the future, it will
remain consistent above 55 thousand.
