1.0 Purpose
This document provides the scope to be used for INSTALLATION AND COMMISSIONING
OF INTERNAL FLOATING ROOFS FOR TANKS 1A, 2A AND 3A AT MBARAKI
BULK TERMINAL FUEL DEPOT.

2.0 Scope of application

This procedure applies only to this project. The scope applies from material receipt from the
internal floating roofs (IFRs) manufacturer, HMT, to tools mobilization, tank preparation for
IFRs, IFRs installation, quality control, project commissioning and handing over.

3.0 Project
The project name shall be INSTALLATION AND COMMISSIONING OF INTERNAL
FLOATING ROOFS FOR TANKS 1A, 2A AND 3A AT MBARAKI BULK TERMINAL
FUEL DEPOT.

4.0 Project clientele

The project client shall be 'MBARAKI BULK TERMINAL LIMITED', as described in the
project contract

5.0 Project site

The project site shall be MBARAKI BULK TERMINAL FUEL DEPOT, MOMBASA,
KENYA. The IFRs installations shall be installed in TANKS 1A, 2A AND 3A.

6.0 Tools and Equipment for the project

The project tools and equipment shall be sourced and availed on site by the contractor, 'GISA
ENGINEERING AND PAINTING' for use in project implementation.

7.0 PPEs for the Project
Below PPEs are mandatory in implementation of the project and shall be provided prior to
project execution.

i. First aid Box

ii. Safety boots
iii. Helmets
iv. Cotton gloves
v. Clear goggles
vi. Ear plugs
vii. General overalls

8.0 Work procedure

Below works procedure shall apply in installation and commissioning of the IFRs as guided by
the project schedule timelines.

i. Pre-project meeting and site visit

ii. Materials and tools Mobilization
iii. Material sorting and grouping per tank
iv. Marking, cutting and fitting of roof vents
v. Marking and drilling of channel ring legs and peripherals, positioning and lifting channel
ring assembly
vi. Marking, drilling and assembly of main pontoons on the channel ring together with
support brackets and legs
vii. Marking and fitting of Unideck girders
viii. Positioning and strapping of dia 8'' pontoons on Unideck girder channels
ix. Positioning, lifting, fitting and assembly of seal shoe between tank shell and Unideck
channel ring
x. Positioning and strapping of dia 6'' annular pontoons around channel ring
xi. Man-way, dipping hatch, breather and gauge well frames assembly
xii. Unideck sheeting laying and screwing onto girder channels

 xiii. Marking and cutting out of access ways on predetermined points
xiv. Positioning and bolting of fire resistant fabric seal between channel ring and seal shoe
xv. Marking, fitting and welding of anti-rotation cable brackets and cable fastening
xvi. Fitting of ladder landing frame and assembly
xvii. Fitting of ground cable from cone roof vent to Unideck roof channel
xviii. Locating, drilling and inserting drain pipes on Unideck roof and assembly of man-way
covers
xix. Site clearance, housekeeping and demobilization
