Firstly, I want to acknowledge Mr. David

consider that when we feel that the test at hand

following words into the mouth of the main

and beg them to come and help me.
I will reach back and draw them into me.
And they must come.
For at this moment,
I am the whole reason they have existed at all.”

To my Ancestors, I say,
At this moment,
I am the whole reason you have existed at all,
and I thank you.

In particular, I express boundless appreciation to:

My Grandmother, who carried the shaman’s

staff amidst brutality and untold loneliness.
My Father, who picked up the shaman’s
staff long enough to pass it to me.

My Mother, who trusted me to carry

that staff and use it to guide her crossing
and assist in setting us free.

I also want to acknowledge and express

appreciation to:

The process of establishing The Center for
True North, LLC and taking my place in the
Shaman’s Circle has been ripe with medicine.
In Medicine Cards – The Discovery of Power
Through The Ways of Animals, Jamie Sams and
David Carson tell us that “tribal cultures describe
‘medicine’ as anything that improves one’s connection
to life and the great mystery…anything that mends,
repairs and restores…that brings power, strength and
understanding and that fosters living in accordance
with natural and divine law.”
For as long as I can recall I’ve been a seeker.
As I reach back into my ancient memory
the same seems true. I began my mystical,
metaphysical training through a series of study
courses accompanied by various initiations in
the early 80’s. Over the past thirty years I’ve
had the good fortune of receiving instruction
from and working with several instrumental and
LQÁXHQWLDO PHWDSK\VLFDO PHQWRUV DQG VDFUHG
path facilitators. Some taught me principles and
concepts, others provided catalysts for growth
and healing, and still others assisted me in
activating ancient memory codes. Ultimately
this journey brought me to the realm of my own

inner authority where I realized that receiving,

recording and passing along True North
Transmissions was one of the splendid reasons
I am here.
Many consider, and I concur, that a spiritual
renaissance began in the late 80’s. We are in the
midst of that reawakening today, which includes
the instantaneous availability of voluminous
quantities of information through various media
vehicles. In fact, over the past 30 years, ordinary
people have reported paranormal experiences
with unparalleled frequency. So, since the
Harmonic Convergence of 1987, metaphysics has
gone mainstream. Nevertheless, in the midst of
all of that, I still found myself hungering for a
clear experience of truth and a visceral connection
to my authentic self.
Spiritual Adulthood ~Gateway to Freedom~

True North Transmissions. This series is a
response to my quest for truth with an emphasis
upon exposing what I consider propaganda
currently being perpetuated in many secular
and spiritual belief systems, including in some
areas of the New Age spiritual movement.
This quest includes addressing the pervasive
spiritual hunger in our world, offering avenues
for assuaging that ache and outlining steps to
2

take toward what I call psycho-spiritual freedom

that includes authentic sacredness and profound
connection.
The textured strands of truth contained in
the volumes of True North Transmissions are
a compilation of insights and observations I’ve
obtained through telepathically transmitted
self-facilitated vision quests and mystical
contemplation. In addition, I have sought
the literary company of many spiritual,
metaphysical, mystical and prophetic authors
ZKRVH ZULWLQJV KDYH XQGRXEWHGO\ LQÁXHQFHG
these works.

Everyone is not only capable but also innately

worthy of sensing energy and experiencing
mystically inspired messages. In fact, in our
dream and meditative states we are naturally
more receptive and available. All that is required
is a heartfelt desire to replace skepticism with
receptivity, fear with gratitude and unworthiness
with self-ordained deservingness. In addition,
for me, faith is intrinsic to receptivity. However,
faith isn’t a blind, devotional reliance on someone
else’s assurance that our prayers are being heard.
Faith is the foundation upon which our co-

3

creative expression develops and from which it

OHDSVLQWRÁLJKW,WKDVEHHQSURSRVHGWKDWIDLWK
requires leaping and that rather than waiting to
take the leap because all is well, it is preferable
to trust that all will become well when you have
taken the leap. From repeated leaps, come trust
and knowledge. To accomplish that, I call on the
“stone strength’” of my personal and our collective
past to rouse me, and “the wings of the future”
to beckon me to continue leaping more deeply
inward toward my own true north.

My sense is that there is a particular energy

embedded in the pages of this series and that
energy can function as a vast encoded celestial
highway to truths sleeping just beneath the
surface. While some truths offered in this series
might provide comfort and encouragement by
FRQÀUPLQJ RQH·V RZQ LQVLJKWV RU DXJPHQWLQJ
previous concepts, others will contradict
currently accepted psycho-spiritual beliefs and
devotional practices.
The following concepts provide an orienting
context and foundational framework for these
writings:

4
)NTRODUCTION

‡ We are emanations of a Creative Source,

imbued with co-creative essence and
therefore have co-creative abilities and
responsibilities.
‡ Our human consciousness has realms
and intricacies that are undeveloped,
unexplored and unexpressed.
‡ There are realms beyond this one and
dimensions within those realms that we
have the ability to traverse.
‡ We possess a multidimensional awareness,
which I refer to interchangeably as the
Macrocosmic or Essence Self.
‡ Many truths about the creation and
evolution of the universes and the nature
and structure of Divinity have been
ZLWKKHOG IDOVLÀHG DQG GLVWRUWHG RIWHQ
replaced by fabrications that bewilder,
subjugate and enslave.
‡ Everything we have experienced before
this has brought us to this place. In short,
we have been preparing all our lives for
these moments.
‡ Something monumental is occurring within
all of humanity, our planet, throughout the
universe and beyond, and we are invited
participants.

Determining whether or not this material, in
part or in its entirety, appeals to you is a matter of
individual resonance –– that indescribable sense
of “this feels right…has the pulse of what I call
the ‘living truth’.” If you feel called to continue

Recognizing what I have come to know
as the ‘living truth’, regardless of whether it
emerges from within us or are presented to us
by another, can have an effect not dissimilar
to regaining one’s memory after a protracted
period of amnesia. Therefore, it can be extremely
EHQHÀFLDOWRSDUWDNHRIWRXFKVWRQHSUDFWLFHVVXFK
as meditative journeys and rituals to assist us on
our journey of recognizing and reclaiming ‘living
truths’. One of the most impactful practices I
know of involves a meditative journey into what
,·YHLGHQWLÀHGDVRXU&RVPLF+HDUW&RPPXQLRQ
Chamber.

HActivating Our Cosmic Heart

Communion ChamberI
In the core of our being is a sacred center. We
enter this sacred center through the doorway of
the heart because not only is the heart the center
point in the overall energy system or design of our
incarnate earth self, but even more importantly,
the heart is the guardian of our intuition.
Our intuition is our profound inner knowing.
In fact, our intuition is a permanent plug into the
‘living truth’, into personal and transpersonal
knowledge and wisdom that is hardwired from
our heart through our soul to our Essence Self.
Our Essence Self is another name for our Higher
Self, Macrocosmic Self, or Oversoul. Our Essence
Self is the totality of us.
It is through our intuition that our Essence
Self speaks to us, with our soul functioning as a
kind of translator or interpretive bridge. So the
language of our Macrocosmic/Essence Self is
intuition, and we can much more easily rouse and
consciously connect with our intuitive knowing
from within our heart chamber. Activating
our Cosmic Heart Communion Chamber and
connecting with our intuition expands our
consciousness and enhances our receptivity.

8
#HAPTER /NE s 'ETTING TO THE (EART OF THE -ATTER

Furthermore, connecting with our intuition

is the key to unlocking the truths encoded
within us, and these encoded truths are our
holy grail. The legend of the “Holy Grail” is vast
and complex with several origins and multiple
interpretations. I am inviting us to consider that
the grail is neither a cup nor a lineage, but a set of
ancient knowledge or truths containing the story
not only of Yeshua and his teachings, but of our
origins, our co-creative heritage.

HMeditative Vision Quest Journeys

To Kindle Inner KnowingI
This type of meditative journey is different
from meditating on one’s breath or focusing
attention on the third eye. In fact, our Cosmic
Heart Communion Chamber may remain inactive
simply because we’ve been taught to concentrate
on our third-eye area as the meditative focal
point. In my experience, meditations, in which
we still our minds, focus on our breathing and/
or repeat mantras are useful for achieving levels
of tranquility and equilibrium. However, if we
are seeking to kindle inner knowing as a way of
receiving insight and guidance and/or to achieve

9
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

clarity that moves us forward on our journey,

then, in my experience, meditations that are akin
to vision quests prove more effective. Therefore,
,UHFRPPHQGPHGLWDWLYHMRXUQH\VWRÀUVWDFWLYDWH
and then continually develop our access to our
Cosmic Heart Communion Chamber.

HOur Hearts Have The AuthorityI

Our earthly minds have no real authority
because they contain our ego, which can insidiously
oppose us in recognizing, remembering and
assimilating the ‘living truth’. We tend to regard
our ego as a complex beast that runs rough shod
over our hearts and kidnaps our souls. However,
our ego is really a survival construct that resides
in the limbic portion of the brain. Its primary
SURJUDPPLQJLVÀJKWRUÁLJKWDQGLWVPDLQVWD\LV
fear. Fear has a faithful companion – sorrow, and
fear and sorrow can immobilize us.
However, the amazingly good news is that
in our Cosmic Heart Communion Chamber
connected to our Essence Self, fear is transformed
into assurance and sorrow into bliss. In fact,
our holy heart has the power to induce in us an
exquisite state of gratitude and understanding that

10
#HAPTER /NE s 'ETTING TO THE (EART OF THE -ATTER

transmutes disbelief into organic power, pretense

into authenticity, criticism into appreciation and
worry into assertion. Additionally, in our Cosmic
Heart Communion Chamber, polarities more
easily integrate and the principles of unconditional
regard, do-no-harm, unity in diversity and non-
interference shine forth from our luminescent
nature.
There are a variety of meditative and vision-
quest practices offered in spiritual teachings
(including one offered in Appendix One at the
end of this book) and whatever practices work
best for each individual is recommended. The
important thing is to activate our heart centered
point of consciousness and to experience that
consciousness as often as possible as part of
our meditative journeys because our hearts will
always lead us to truth and in a direction that is
for our highest good.

HThe Unspoiled Sacred Center

Of Our HeartsI
In a future chapter we will explore how our
experience of disconnection from the Source
stems from the label of sinners who have fallen

11
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

from grace and the imprinted belief of being

separate from Source. However, labels and
imprinted beliefs did not sever our connection,
but only temporarily distorted or disrupted
it. Regular journeys into our Cosmic Heart
Communion Chamber are an unparalleled
means of remedying any and all disruptions and
distortions, for this sacred center of communion
does not recognize wounds of unworthiness and
is untouched by maladies of untruth.

No doubt we can all agree that monumental
things are occurring within humanity as well as
with the Earth. I presume that most individuals on
a spiritual path, particularly since approximately
1987, have come into contact with the concept of a
paradigm shift. My use of the term “paradigm” is
synonymous with a customary model, established
standard and/or patterns or precedents that
one follows. Paradigm shifts are characterized
by leaps in understanding and expansions in
consciousness, whereby profound evolutionary
changes take place. A paradigm shift is upon us
and at the heart of it is the opportunity to cross the
threshold from spiritual adolescence to spiritual
adulthood. Therefore, the most important way

13
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

to participate in this shift is to become spiritual

adults.

HThe Privilege and Responsibility

Of Paradigm ParticipantsI
Everyone consciously participating in the
current paradigm shift is a spiritual trailblazer and
bridge builder. This shift requires that we do our
part to dismantle the old paradigm and construct
the new one. The bridge we are constructing is
from the current reality to a new earth reality, and
a foundational aspect of the construction of this
bridge involves our graduation from spiritual
adolescence to spiritual adulthood.
An essential step in the direction of spiritual
adulthood is the reclamation of our divine cosmic
identity. The next steps involve not only taking
up the four passkeys for crossing the spiritual
adulthood threshold but also using them in such
a way that transforms our lives and empowers
WKHIXOÀOOPHQWRIWKLVSDUDGLJPVKLIW
This shift encourages us to stand in our co-
creative authority by owning the ‘living truths’
we remember and recognize. We own truth
by embodying it, by being courageous enough
14
#HAPTER 4WO s 4HE #URRENT 0ARADIGM 3HIFT

to live our truth, to walk our talk. In addition,

we dismantle the old paradigm by separating
restrictive beliefs that we’ve obtained from
outside sources and accepted or adopted as fact
and separating them from what we determine to
be the ‘living truth’. This occurs when we take
a courageous stand and sift through the beliefs
we’ve embraced as truths, allowing for the
possibility that a portion of the truths that we’ve
been holding and ordering our lives by might
now be holding us.
We have an extraordinary opportunity to
replace information (ideas, facts, data) we have
absorbed and adopted as belief with the ‘living
truth’ and to step into the freedom of truly thinking
and feeling for ourselves. We are being invited to
honor our intuitive knowing, to trust ourselves,
to honor the experience of being challenged by
opportunities for freedom and to welcome being
stretched outside our comfort zones.

HFinding The Truths That

Vibrate In Our Very CoreI
Our emergence from spiritual adolescence
to spiritual adulthood, which involves separate

15
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

limiting historical beliefs from enlivening truths,

entails examining how concepts or information
EHFRPHEHOLHIVLQWKHÀUVWSODFH:HDUHH[SRVHG
to data in the form of information and concepts.
We take in the information and concepts, digest
and assimilate them and then adopt the data as
fact. These facts become beliefs. And more often
than not our beliefs take up residence within us
as truth. Our truths become convictions that we
defend and protect as irrefutable dogma.
As we continue our journey toward spiritual
adulthood it is vital that we detach from the
beliefs we’ve stockpiled, particularly those that
come from external source authority. Instead,
as we assess what resonates as the ‘living truth’
within us, we become more inclined to rely on
our own inner promptings. And as we rely
more and more on our own inner promptings,
a snowball effect commences because the more
we rely on our inner promptings, the easier it
becomes to evaluate whether what we see, hear
or read genuinely resonates as the ‘living truth’.
The more our ability to recognize and reclaim
WUXWKVLQFUHDVHVWKHPRUHUHOLHYHGDQGVDWLVÀHG
ZHIHHO7KHPRUHUHOLHYHGDQGVDWLVÀHGZHIHHO
WKHPRUHIXOÀOOHGDQGJUDWHIXOZHEHFRPH7KH
PRUHIXOÀOOHGDQGJUDWHIXOZHEHFRPHWKHVDIHU
we feel.

16
#HAPTER 4WO s 4HE #URRENT 0ARADIGM 3HIFT

When we experience self-reliance via assessing

and utilizing the ‘living truth’ and when we have
understanding and knowledge, we feel safe.
When we feel safe, there isn’t much room for fear.
However, if we ignore these vital steps, we risk
continuing to evaluate what we see, hear or read
from our historical lens, and will therefore likely
FRQWLQXHWRGHIHQGWKHSULVRQVZHÀQGRXUVHOYHV
in. It is somewhat of a paradox, for we have to be
willing to step outside our prisons to know that
we were in a prison.
At this point in the current evolutionary cycle
we are much more aware of our ability to create
our own reality. That which we experience as our
reality is based on our beliefs. Indeed our beliefs
GHÀQH RXU UHDOLW\ )XUWKHUPRUH RXU EHOLHIV
LQÁXHQFH RXU FKRLFHV DQG RXU SDUWLFLSDWLRQ LQ
life, and many of our beliefs often dampen our
soulful desires and distort the ‘living truth’ that
vibrates in our core.
Many of us become anxious and rigid in the
face of change and therefore opt for the comfort
zones of holding onto familiar beliefs. Familiar
beliefs reinforce the repetition of patterns, and
this paradigm shift insists that we accept that

17
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

we cannot afford to remain stuck in repetitious

patterns.

HOur Highest Destiny Is EvolutionI

All paradigm shifts challenge participants
to awaken to the fact that there is a difference
between belief and truth, to separate limiting
historical beliefs from the ‘living truth’ and to
overthrow previous assumptions that don’t
contribute to evolution. All paradigm shifts are,
in fact, evidence that previously held restrictive
beliefs and past assumptions can be overthrown.
+LVWRU\YHULÀHVWKDWZKDWRQFHVHHPHGLPSRVVLEOH
not only found its way into the mainstream,
but also acquired impeccable credentials along
the way. Furthermore, history substantiates
that truths once considered heretical can now
withstand not only questioning and revision but
also recognition and acceptance.
The bottom line reason we incarnated at this
time as participants in this paradigm shift is to
graduate from spiritual adolescence to spiritual
adulthood. We are renegades and trailblazers, and
as such, we are encoded to graduate spiritually.

18
#HAPTER 4WO s 4HE #URRENT 0ARADIGM 3HIFT

This encoding predates all emotional, societal,

psycho-spiritual and religious grids.
This paradigm shift is about expanding our
consciousness and we expand our consciousness
because we genuinely yearn to explore uncommon
knowledge about the mystical aspects of our
origins and to re-examine reality as we know it.
In fact, we are encoded to explore uncommon
knowledge as well as to overthrow previous
beliefs and assumptions that don’t contribute to
our highest destiny, and our highest destiny is
evolution.

HHeralds of Living TruthI

In the deepest part of ourselves I believe that
we long to become heralds of ‘living truth’, and
when we do so, any chains that have bound us
dissolves, the knowledge encoded in our beings is
activated and we become liberated broadcasters
of our cosmic heritage.

4HE 4RUTH ABOUT THE 3OURCE

HCreation’s Many FacesI
The concept of creation has been examined
DQG GHEDWHG LQ UHOLJLRXV VFLHQWLÀF DQG SV\FKR
spiritual arenas throughout time, with most
creation accounts involving either a singular
creator or a pantheon of gods and goddesses.
Beliefs about the nature of god, whether there is
a female counterpart to this god, whether there
is one true god or multiple deities, and whether
there is a difference between the Source or Creator
and god have traveled a long road and changed
a great deal through time. No doubt many have
EHQHÀWHGHQRUPRXVO\IURPWKHLUDIÀOLDWLRQZLWK
the world religions on this planet. I do not seek
to target any one religion or to invalidate any
spiritual orientation. Rather it seems important
to note that beliefs vary so much from one
21
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

culture and religious orientation to another that

many are inclined to maintain that their beliefs
are unequivocally true and another’s doctrines,
values and viewpoints are dangerously false.
In general, in human history on Earth the
progression of beliefs has gone from animistic
magic to polytheism to monotheism. In
polytheistic religions, humanity seeks direction,
comfort and order from a variety of specialized
deities. These pagan gods seem accessible, each
occupying a limited domain with corresponding
powers and responsibilities. Monotheism
emerged approximately 4,500 years ago and with
it a great gulf came into being between a single,
omniscient and omnipotent deity and the pagan
pantheon. The concept of one supreme god is
the central tenet of most contemporary religions
and the dominant model of humanity’s current
religious consciousness. However, it is not only
possible, but also highly likely that the supreme
gods that each religion recognizes and worships
are actually different creator beings from the
various pantheons.

22
#HAPTER 4HREE s 4HE 4RUTH ABOUT THE 3OURCE

HChallenging Sacred BeliefsI

For many it can be frightening and painful
to consider new concepts because it may require
either leaving the old ones behind or sifting
out from the old beliefs the tenets of truth and
building upon them. In his book, Tomorrow’s
God Neale Donald Walsch maintains, “that the
time to challenge your most sacred beliefs is at hand…
if you don’t challenge them, they’ll challenge you.” In
that same work, Mr. Walsch urges us to consider
that “unless we can admit that we don’t know all
there is about God, we can’t even hope to continue life
on this planet a great deal longer.”

HWe Are DivineI

To my way of experiencing it, the Source is a
VHQWLHQW FUHDWLYH HQHUJ\ ÀHOG ,W LV WKH FDXVH RI
all things in existence. I envision the Source as
a huge wellspring and each of us emanations or
drops from that great wellspring. The Source is
the ocean of our origins. I use the term “Source”
instead of Creator, because source is synonymous
with origin, starting place, spring and font.
A depiction of the Source as the Wellspring
of Creation appears on page 30. Because we
23
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

are emanations of a vast creative, massively

LQWHOOLJHQWHQHUJ\ÀHOGZHDUHLPEXHGZLWKWKH
same traits, attributes and characteristics as that
ÀHOG
It is my perception that spiritual seekers
KDYHGLIÀFXOW\UHPHPEHULQJWKHLUGLYLQHRULJLQV
because we all have a certain degree of species
trauma and part of that trauma involves what
I call a primary spiritual label accompanied by
several spiritual imprints. The primary spiritual
label is of having “fallen” from grace with Creator
Source”;; of having committed some grievous
act or a series of acts that disavowed us of our
inherent deservedness. One glaring example is
alive and well in Catholicism whose basic tenet
is that we were all born with “original sin”.
The notion of having been born with “original”
sin is absurd but it is nonetheless a powerful
tool of manipulation, domination and control.
When we combine that label with the imprinted
impression of separation from the Source, we
have the stunningly corrupt template upon
which nearly all major religions and even some
New Age spiritual systems base their moral code
of behavior. However, the great news is that
these imprinted beliefs and labels never severed
our connection, but rather temporarily distorted
or disrupted the connection.

24
#HAPTER 4HREE s 4HE 4RUTH ABOUT THE 3OURCE

Many of us have cellular memory of having

incarnated over and over with this constant ache
to feel connected while at the same time feeling
obliged to go through a lot of hoopla to earn or
deserve the right to return to an experience of
oneness with the Source. But, you see, we have
never been out of oneness with the Source.
This cellular memory has had a profound
effect upon us as spiritual seekers because so
many of us have spent lifetimes meandering about

truth and a palpable connection to our authentic
essence selves because these labels and imprints
have constricted us at our core. In my view, these
constrictions account for our slow vibratory rates
and low frequency.

HWe Are Already Always One With SourceI

There is no ultimate goal to return to oneness
with the Source because we have never been
out of oneness with the Source. The world of
external perception and separation is not real but
rather the product of labels, imprints, overlays,

25
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

distortions and entanglements that appear real.

Any notion of having fallen and a subsequent
need to return to Source is an illusion or false
impression.
Furthermore, there is no distant, patriarchal
authoritarian god or authoritative mother/father
deity that created us and maintains a watch over
the countless forms of life everywhere. There
are no deities to whom we might surrender our
destiny. Since the Source functions in accordance
with unconditional regard and non-interference, It
can neither control our destiny, nor interfere with
our free will, nor impose upon us an immutable
plan for our lives. Moreover, there are no beings
possessing an empirical right to evaluate our
behavior or who have any authority to issue
disapproving retribution or merciful grace. In
addition, the Source did not create many players
so that It could have a variety of experiences. The
Great Wellspring from which we issued forth is
not capable of using its offspring in that capacity.
This is a fallacy born from diminished perception.
There is a ladder to creation and we each have
a rightful place of honor within that construct. All
beings are individual co-creative emanations that
can trace their roots back to that Great Wellspring.
Therefore, the Source radiates through each drop
regardless of whether it has been stepped down
26

in vibration. No matter how far the receiver

experiences him/herself to be from the Source,
the signal does not differ in essence from the
original broadcast. The difference is in the
experience of the receiver. We are and always
have been conduits for the transmission of the
original essence energy.
This is the threshold of spiritual adulthood
and the Source wants us to cross that threshold,
to walk out of all prisons into the warm embrace
of truth and reclaim our rightful heritage.

direction of spiritual adulthood is the reclamation
of our divine cosmic identity. We reclaim this vast
sense of ourselves by remembering, embracing
and embodying our co-creatorship as divine
emanations of the Source. This translates into us
behaving as majestic co-creators.

HOut With The Old; In With The NewI

Part of our function as spiritually adult
participants in the current paradigm shift is the
35
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

dismantling of the existing historical paradigm

and one of the ways we dismantle it is by realizing
and accepting that it is not up to “what God wants
for our lives”;; it’s no longer about “let go and let
God”. That’s the historical way. As spiritual
adults we are no longer in need of divine parents
because we have reclaimed our essence or cosmic
identity and embraced our co-creatorship status.
Spiritual Adulthood is about becoming partners
with the Source rather than having Father God or
Mother Goddess take care of us.
Also, as spiritual adults it is easier to
comprehend and accept that the Source functions
in accordance with the principles of universal
regard and non-interference and therefore can
neither control our destiny, interfere with our
free will, nor impose upon us an immutable plan
for our lives. The Source cannot give to us what
we don’t choose. This is actually another way of
describing free will.

HThe Pulse Of The Paradigm ShiftI

The current paradigm has a pulse that is
beckoning us to shift from adolescence or an
adolescent viewpoint and behavior to one of

36
#HAPTER &IVE s 4HE %SSENTIAL 3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD 3TEP

adulthood. As adolescents we say - “you do it/

you take care of this or that;; take care of me;; show
me the way;; I am your instrument”. As spiritual
adults we take responsibility for ourselves as
dynamically functioning collaborative partners
with the Source. In addition, becoming a spiritual
adult helps move the paradigm shift along. In fact,
we actually dismantle a formidable component
RIWKHROGSDUDGLJPZKHQZHÀUVWHPEUDFHRXU
co-creatorship and then behave as empowered
participants with the Source.

HEncoded To GraduateI
We are having an incarnational experience
on Earth at a pivotal and auspicious time for a
variety of purposes but the most important of
these is to graduate spiritually. Realizing and
behaving with a deep knowing that we are co-
creator emanations of the Source is an intrinsic
part of our graduation from spiritual adolescence
to spiritual adulthood.
We are encoded to graduate spiritually and this
encoding predates all emotional, societal, psycho-
spiritual and/or religious grids. Moreover, our
spiritual graduation and the completion of this

37
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

paradigm shift are synonymous because both are

dependent upon our willingness to be infused
with a desire to recognize and embrace ‘living
truths’, and one of these truths is that we are
reality-creating participants with the Source.

!DULTHOOD 0ASSKEYS
HNumber One: Personal AuthenticityI
There are four passkeys for crossing the
VSLULWXDO DGXOWKRRG WKUHVKROG 7KH ÀUVW DQG
most important is personal authenticity. In my
opinion, authenticity is the highest spiritual
principle and the cornerstone of our humanity.
When someone is authentic, they are genuine,
true, sincere, reliable and trustworthy.
Therefore, telling the truth about ourselves
is paramount. This involves telling the truth or
being authentically revealing about our current
psycho-spiritual emotional state because we
can’t transform anything we’re unwilling to
acknowledge. However, when we acknowledge

39
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

the truth of our current state, then we can move

in the direction of transformation.
Moreover, there is a profound connection
between authenticity and our ability to recognize
truth. In order to access and embrace the far-
reaching truths of existence, we must be willing
to acknowledge the truth about our everyday
lives. Being authentically who we are at any
given moment restores us to wholeness and re-
establishes our sovereignty.

HNumber Two: Self-ExaminationI

The second passkey is self-examination
and self-examination is the main ingredient of
HQOLJKWHQPHQW,KRQRUWKHYDULRXVGHÀQLWLRQVRI
enlightenment proposed by others that contain
instructions for attaining this state by remaining
present in the moment, striving for humility,
radiating unconditional love and serenity and/or
aligning only with experiences and expressions
of “positive” emotions. However, from my
SHUVSHFWLYHHQOLJKWHQPHQWLVÀUVWDQGIRUHPRVW
the process of bringing the light of awareness
to darkness;; illumination to denial. Carl Jung
describes this process quite superbly. He says,

40
#HAPTER 3IX s 4HE &OUR 3PRITUAL !DULTHOOD 0ASSKEYS

“Enlightenment doesn’t occur from sitting around

visualizing images of light, but from integrating
the darker aspects of the self into the conscious
personality.”
Bringing our darker, hidden, lost and
abandoned aspects into our conscious embrace
is often disconcerting. However, we are called
upon to do so as spiritual adults. The alternative
would have us condemn that part of ourselves
to wander in the halls of pretense and denial.
Besides enlightenment is part of our true nature,
but we’ve been talked out of what it takes to be
enlightened. In fact, we’ve been shamed out of it.
Authenticity goes hand and hand with
enlightenment. Our internal resistance to being
authentic circumvents, in my view, our journey
RI EHFRPLQJ HQOLJKWHQHG EHLQJV 7KH ÀUVW WZR
passkeys -- personal authenticity and self-
examination -- lead to an enlightened state where
there is nothing being denied or hidden.
So, as we can see authenticity and self-
examination are inextricably connected. In
other words, we need to self-examine in order to
discover or uncover our authentic self. Also, we
need to self-examine in order to evolve. We need
to know who we are, what we are feeling, what
we are denying and unwilling to acknowledge, as

41
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

well as what we are judging and projecting onto

others. True enlightenment can only occur if we
self-examine and authentically bring forth, into
the light, that which is within us. Our internal
resistance to being authentic circumvents our
evolutionary journey of becoming enlightened
beings.

HNumber Three: Separating Beliefs

From The Living TruthI
The third passkey involves separating beliefs
from the truth because there is often a difference
between what we believe or have been taught or
indoctrinated into believing and what I have been
referring to as the ‘living truth’. We know when
we’re in the presence of the ‘living truth’ because
we have that almost indescribable sensation or
awareness of “this feels right”, or “this is it”, or
we get chills accompanied by a system-wide “ah-
ha”.
It seems clear to me that for multiple
purposes crucial truths about the nature and
structure of divinity as well as our place and
purpose within this cosmic design have been
ZLWKKHOGGLVWRUWHGDQGIDOVLÀHG7KLVKDVIXHOHG

42
#HAPTER 3IX s 4HE &OUR 3PRITUAL !DULTHOOD 0ASSKEYS

certain conspiratorial constructs. Conspiracies

are fueled by propaganda and maintained by
training individuals into adopting the distortions
of truth as doctrine. The underlying purpose for
this has been to keep us in ignorance so that we
may more easily be dominated and controlled.
The distortions of truths have distracted
and divided us in recurring attempts to keep us
ignorant and therefore controllable, hindering
both our individual and collective spiritual
evolution. Nevertheless, from long before the
dawn of recorded history our yearning for
answers to the following questions has prevailed:
‡ who are we,
‡ how and by whom were we created,
‡ why are we here,
‡ what lies beyond the material world,
‡ why is there so much suffering,
‡ and what occurs when we die.
Some who provide insightful responses to
WKHVHTXHVWLRQVDOVRDIÀUPWKDWRQO\DVHOHFWIHZ
with exceptional, advanced perception have
the ability to decipher and interpret spiritual
complexities. I have learned that this is not so.
Uncovering threads in the tapestry of truth is
not an exercise reserved for an elite group, nor

43
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

are any of us condemned to wander about in a

bewildering maze of mystery. Thankfully, truth
is simpler than this. Truth has a recognizable
hum that opens doorways to previously veiled
insights.
It is important to realize that becoming
spiritual adults requires that we risk feeling
uncomfortably challenged as we sift through the
tenets of truth we’ve been holding and seriously
consider the possibility that some of our beliefs
and practices, including some acquired via the
New Age spiritual movement are in need of
revision. Considering this doesn’t invalidate
our quests, diminish our discoveries or reduce
to folly the time we’ve invested in them. Every
step we’ve taken and every piece of information
we’ve discovered or adopted until now has
carved pathways to greater receptivity and more
profound revelation.
One of the reasons we may resist or become
rigid in the face of challenging our current or
historical beliefs is because in the presence of
the ‘living truth’ our lives can qualitatively
change. Indeed, truth is so powerful it can re-
organize every part of our being. However, if we
negate new concepts because they collide with
the acceptable structure of our current beliefs,
we might be resigning not only ourselves, but
44
#HAPTER 3IX s 4HE &OUR 3PRITUAL !DULTHOOD 0ASSKEYS

PDQ\RWKHUVWKDWZLOOEHQHÀWIURPRXUFRXUDJH
to remain within the grip of the historical belief
paradigms enforced by most religious dogma
as well as assorted spiritual suppositions. I
personally feel immensely inspired by the
words of Neale Donald Walsch, from his book,
Tomorrow’s God in which he states, “all great
truths begin as blasphemy”.
Therefore, we must allow for the possibility
that some of what we have been holding as truth
might be holding us. When we do allow this,
any chains that have bound us dissolve and the
‘living truth’ or the genuine knowledge encoded
in our beings is activated.

HNumber Four: The Ongoing

Process Of IntegrationI
The fourth spiritual adulthood passkey
involves our commitment to the ongoing process
of integration. Several sources describe what’s
transpiring on our planet, in our 3-D reality or
experience, as an energy war, a war of opposites
or two opposing forces, of duality - evolution vs.
devolution;; light vs. darkness.

45
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

We always have a choice and our choices

determine which direction we align with. This
isn’t to say that we won’t occupy polarized
positions temporarily while processing through
an issue. However, unremitting, permanent
polarized positions are indicative of spiritual
adolescence. The middle ground is the place of
spiritual adulthood. Also, polarized viewpoints
don’t serve our highest purpose or bring the
profound healing sought by each of us. Even
more importantly, relentless polarized positions
prevent us from answering our own heroic
call and becoming the place where a genuine
quantum leap can occur.
The situations that show up in our personal
lives and the issues that emerge from these
situations or interactions are opportunities
for each of us to choose authenticity, self-
examination, the ‘living truth’ and integration.
In addition, that which appears on the societal
stage is a mirror for the unexamined, unhealed
aspects of all of us.
It’s seems uncomplicated to say that a person
RXJKWWRKDYHEHKDYHGLQDFHUWDLQZD\DQGWRÀQG
unmitigated fault with their behavior especially
when it results in tragedies. Many newsworthy
public issues are hauntingly complex and,
by their nature, engender a kind of polarized
46
#HAPTER 3IX s 4HE &OUR 3PRITUAL !DULTHOOD 0ASSKEYS

position mongering. Consequently, care needs

to be taken. Whenever we hold ourselves
or another person in a prison as an absolute
counterfeit charlatan, betrayer or murderer,
our pulpit will include proclaiming conclusive
contempt and condemnation. In this case, when
unchecked, judgment and vengeance can run
over our humanity in its unbridled haste to
crucify. Likewise, whenever we place ourselves
or another person upon a lofty perch declaring
that he or she is an irreproachable purveyor
of integrity and indisputable contributions,
our pulpit will likely include a kind of elusive
clemency. In this case, when unchecked, the
armor of defensiveness, rigidity, denial and
myopia pre-empts our answering the heroic call
of autonomous discernment.
The most effective and satisfying way through
this paradigm shift is the middle ground which
asks us to observe and identify the disturbing,
objectionable things appearing on the societal
stage and to allow our horror, disdain and
bewilderment to escort us inward, to our own
inner inquiry.

doorways have opened that invite us to re-

of divinity, our origins, purpose and power. We
have been riding waves of repeated opportunities
for rapid spiritual awakening.

HThe Truth Shall Set Us FreeI

As part of this awakening many spiritual
authors have demonstrated how the sacred texts
depicting our creative origins, the nature and
structure of divinity and Earth’s evolutionary
records have been withheld, altered, distorted,
hidden and/or discarded. The overwhelming
majority of these authors maintain that the
underlying purpose for this has been to keep
us in ignorance so that we may more easily be
dominated and controlled. I have been instructed
by some of the treatises on these topics and am
proud to proclaim that this work also seeks to
expose deceptions within our current belief
systems. As part of that expose, in the following
section, I offer a fresh look at some concepts
that will hopefully prompt you to re-consider

the degree to which our beliefs and choices

be relatively easy for some of us to conceive of
oppression, coercion and cruelty existing in the
undercurrents of our religious doctrines, political
and social systems and economic constructs. Well,
it is now time to examine to what degree they
exist in our New Age spiritual thinking. Along
these lines, it is vital to note our resistance to this,
paying particular attention to any tendencies to
adamantly defend our current spiritual beliefs
and practices.

of our current emotional, psycho-spiritual state

HIsn't It So?I
As part of our personal inventory, I heartily
invite each of us to take a courageous moment to
acknowledge how some of the main ingredients
of life on 3-D Earth include struggle, endurance,
suffering, decay and death. We all know
individuals who function like intoxicated robots
on a treadmill of illusion convinced that they’re
getting somewhere. We also know individuals
who are devoted to complacency. Maybe we feel
relieved that we’re not one of them. And yet, isn’t
it so that we too struggle to maintain an awakened
state? Isn’t is so that some of us meditate regularly,
read spiritual books, go on sacred pilgrimages,
donate to charities, participate in spiritual
programs and have profound, illuminating
experiences that only temporarily change our

feelings of uncertainty, struggle, endurance, fear,
restlessness or envy with only a few translating

52
#HAPTER 3EVEN s 3ETTING 3OME (ISTORICAL #ONCEPTS &REE

into actual transformation. We don’t have a

lasting sense of having transformed because we
don’t yet believe it’s possible. We don’t believe
it’s possible because perhaps we’ve encountered
truths with which we deeply resonate but have
not yet found a way to assimilate these truths
into our daily lives. Why is that? Could it have
anything to do with the possibility that we have
been inundated by distortions? Let’s explore
some possible distortions.

HA New Look At The “Law Of Attraction”I

While some spiritual systems advocate for our
co-creative capacity to fashion our own reality,
they warn that because this is achieved through a
particular interpretation of the Law of Attraction,
we would do well to be careful about what we
send out to the universe. As I understand the
basic tenet of the current prevailing interpretation
of the Law of Attraction, because the universe can
only send me what I am mentally and emotionally
emitting, it’s advisable for me to take regular
inventory of my thoughts and feelings because
they are likely laden with unconscious desires for
VHOIVDERWDJHVHOILQÁLFWHGPLVHU\DQGHYHQVHOI

53
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

annihilation. However, it seems that I shouldn’t

get too bogged down with this inventory because
if I do, I might go into a state of fear and then the
universe will bring me even more of what I send
out, which I presume is more fear.
One of the effects of the current interpretive
application of the Law of Attraction is the tendency
for us to become emotionally shallow and rigid
as well as afraid to acknowledge how afraid we
may actually feel about becoming receptor sites
for even more fear. In the meantime, where is the
allowance for authentic self-expression as a state
of consciousness and behavior to aspire to?
,Q UHVSRQVH WR WKDW , ÀUVW ZDQW WR UHDIÀUP
that at the heart of this paradigm shift is spiritual
adulthood and freedom, and that the most
important way to participate in this paradigm
shift is by graduating from spiritual adolescence
to spiritual adulthood. To reiterate, spiritual
adulthood is the process of reclaiming our
essence, remembering our co-creative origins,
embracing our cosmic purpose and bringing
our sovereignty to everything we touch.
We’ve explored the four passkeys to crossing
the spiritual adulthood threshold: personal

54
#HAPTER 3EVEN s 3ETTING 3OME (ISTORICAL #ONCEPTS &REE

from truth, and integration. Now let’s examine

the role e-motions play relative to these passkeys.

HE-motions As The CenterpieceI

Most of us understand or can at least fathom
that everything is made up of energy. Well,
e-motions are energy-in-motion. E-motions are
WKHFHQWHUSLHFHRIWKHÀUVWWZRSDVVNH\V+RZHYHU
many of us are afraid, ashamed and anxious about
the exploration, acknowledgment and expression
of certain e-motions. More than at any other
time in our lives it is important to pay attention
to what needs to be expressed from deep within
us. Holding onto our e-motions contributes to
a pattern of denial and the banishment of parts
of ourselves. Holding and suppression tears us
apart. In order to free ourselves from this prison
it is crucial that we move our e-motions. We do
that by feeling our e-motions, by acknowledging
their existence and by revealing and ex-pressing
ourselves.

55
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

HThe Circuitous LoopI

It is vital that we resist the tendency to want to
“rise” above certain e-motions, to ignore, deny or
suppress them because of a judgment that these
e-motions are too heavy, dark, dense, frightening,
dishonoring or reprehensible.
When we harbor our e-motions rather than
allowing the energy-in-motion to move through
us, that energy generally turns into fuel that defeats
ourselves or others and/or seeks to enroll others
in our defeat or victimization. Additionally, when
we habitually repress e-motions, we struggle and
suffer. The more we struggle and suffer, the
more we form patterns that become blueprints
for attachment, addiction and projection. It is
further recommended that we notice when we
ÀQG RXUVHOYHV LQ D FLUFXLWRXV ORRS RI KRSLQJ
wondering, questioning, negotiating, doubting,
fearing, hoping, wondering, questioning,
negotiating, doubting, fearing - we realize that
we are trapped inside the eye of a hurricane,
unable to move in one direction or the other.
What got us there? Denial and suppression got
us there;; disconnection from our authentic self
got us there. Also, if we repetitively experience
depression, anxiety, fear or frustration, it usually

56
#HAPTER 3EVEN s 3ETTING 3OME (ISTORICAL #ONCEPTS &REE

signals that e-motional energy is either stuck or

has formed a pattern.

HThe Way Out: Becoming A

Crucible Of TransformationI
The way out is clear – going deep within,
self-examining, acknowledging the e-motions
that are there and expressing our authentic self.
Experiencing and expressing our e-motions is part
of the process of moving the energy, and moving
the energy frees us from entrapment, brings us
clarity and empowers us to make decisions.
As human beings we cannot help but feel.
It isn’t that those we admire – Yeshua, Budda,
Mother Mary, Quan Yin, etc - only experienced
and expressed emotions that vibrated at the
level of peace, joy, harmony, unconditional
love, etc. They experienced the full spectrum
of e-motions - including frustration, grief, fear,
rage, compassion, tolerance, peace, joy, harmony,
unconditional love, etc. Their mastery occurred
because they were authentic;; they moved the
energy. A Bridge Builder is a living crucible of
transformation. As we reveal and ex-press our
authentic selves, we convert the dross within

authenticity, freedom and celebration.

as the “Principle of Universal Resonance” or the
“Law of Similiars”. These principles represent
a dynamic that demonstrates that like attracts
like, that we attract to ourselves that which we
put out. I acknowledge and deeply respect these
principles. However, I propose that we seriously
consider how the current interpretation of the Law
of Attraction tends to reduce the consciousness of

The universe I align with has the ability to

HThrowing Off The ShacklesI

As we continue our exploration of distortions,
let’s review two concepts that are the driving
force of many New Age spiritual quests – karma
and reincarnation. To be blunt, we threw off
the shackles of sin, dressed it in eastern attire
and re-named it karma. There are somewhat
LQFRQVLVWHQW GHÀQLWLRQV RI WKH FRQFHSW RI NDUPD
DQGPDQ\RIWKHVHKDYHGULIWHGIDUDÀHOGRIWKH
most precious principle, which is that karma asks
us to be responsible for our thoughts, desires and

learn from our experiences and to respond to the
effect of our thoughts, the impact of our feelings
and the outcome of our actions.
The concepts of sin, penance, retribution and
redemption are not part of our original blueprint.
These and related concepts arose from a “fallen-
from-grace” label and an imprinted belief that we
are therefore deservedly disconnected from the
Source. With little or no connection to the Source

HKarma’s TwinI
Karma has a twin and its name is reincarnation.
For multiple incarnational cycles many of us have
accepted that Earth life is a school providing us
the training we need to return to “the oneness”.
We’ve also come to accept that we must return to
Earth because we can’t return to the oneness until
we balance out our karma.
Most interpretations of karma include a caveat
of increasing our quotient of good behavior so as
to warrant a recommendation (from the Lords of
Karma, Life Review Spirit Guides or Judges of
Heaven) for a better-quality life next time around.
We’ve considered how labels and imprints
might have originated and subsequently fertilized
the soil for Beings to adopt and rescue us. These
Beings consoled our feelings of guilt and shame,
assuaged our existential loneliness, and adopted
us when we felt most unworthy. Because of
this, we have perceived them as incontrovertibly
62

necessary not only to our redemption but also

to our existence. However, we’re at a juncture
LQ RXU VSLULWXDO MRXUQH\ ZKHUH ZH ZLOO EHQHÀW
from considering that some of these Beings
might be addicted to the hierarchical position
they assumed in our spiritual journey eons ago,
mirroring our reliance on them.
It is time for us to seriously consider that
the construct of an addictive reliance on Beings
in charge of keeping a karmic log on our lives,
assisting us in life reviews once we’ve shed our
physical vehicle, and/or recommending future
incarnational experiences based on what they
deem necessary to balance our karma might be
forestalling our graduation to spiritual adulthood.

generates a steady stream of helplessness that
seeks to verify that we’re incapable of governing
ourselves.

HWe’ve All Done It AllI

The identity and nature of many Beings
we believe are needed for our redemption
and existence will be explored in True North
Transmissions, Volume Two, entitled
SPIRITUAL FULFILLMENT. For now, let’s
assume that in our many microcosmic experiences
we’ve done it all – occupied polar extremes as
well as places somewhere in the middle. At the
polar extremes, let’s image we’ve been rich and
poor, saintly and murderous, persecutor and
victim, etc., etc., etc.
Let’s assume that we agreed to these
experiences in repeated attempts to balance our
karmic scales, acquire the requisite training and
assimilate the compulsory lessons so that we
could either qualify for a better quality life next

“oneness”.

HAs Without/So WithinI

We are in the midst of a spiritual renaissance
and although this reawakening includes the
instantaneous availability of voluminous
quantities of information through various media
and digital vehicles, we often feel void of rousing
inspiration, animated wisdom and vital clarity.
At this point in the paradigm shift as the
historical constructs and belief structures
struggle not only for survival, but frantically
vie for supremacy, we become more and more
inundated by evidence of cruelty, indifference,

71
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

usury, deceit, hopelessness and heartbreak. That

which is playing out globally on the societal stage
reveals the degree to which our sense of ourselves
as divine beings has been ravaged. In order to
resurrect it we must be willing to acknowledge
that these events tell us how furious, detached,
bewildered, anesthetized and impotent many
Earth inhabitants feel. Therefore, it is vital that
we continue to have eyes to see and the courage to
speak up about the abhorrent things that appear
on the societal stage. At the same time, we must
recognize that what appears on this stage is a
mirror for the unexamined, unrevealed, unhealed
aspects of all of us. As without/so within.
The woundee and wounder are two sides of
the same face - both are crying out for healing. As
members of the human race we are summoned
WR UHÁHFW XSRQ DUHDV LQ RXU OLYHV LQ ZKLFK ZH
are both the “woundee” and the “wounder”. It
is imperative that we realize that if we don’t go
beyond our criticism and condemnation of the
malicious war mongrels, the duplicitous political
leaders, the unconscionably bullying and greedy
corporations and/or the insensitively exploitive
advertisers, we are contributing to the problem.
Let’s instead allow our anger and disapproval
to take us inward where we ask - where have I
been malicious or insensitive? When and why
72
#HAPTER %IGHT s /URSELVES 2EmECTED

have I bullied or exploited another? Petitions,

editorials and/or boycott of products are all well
and good, but no lasting change can come unless
we change the world one person at a time, from
one moment to the next. As Mahatma Gandhi
heralded, “we must be the change we want to see in
the world.”
Resurrecting our divine identity is
synonymous with raising our consciousness. To
do this we must acknowledge the truth about
ourselves, about the condition of our own inner
landscape. A component of integrity asks us to
integrate all aspects of ourselves;; to invite all
parts of us to the round table for the purpose of
authentic examination, expression, healing and
integration. Because authenticity is the highest
spiritual principle and the key to unlocking our
inherent sense of decency, it is essential that we
allow our disdain to point us inward, to our own
self-inquiry.
As abhorrent as events appearing on the
societal stage are, they offer us a way into and
out of our own prisons. Each of us has the
opportunity and responsibility to raise our own
bars with each decision we make which includes
both courageously speaking up about dreadful
conditions and also courageously going inward

Also, as it relates to the feeling of not being

DQGZKDWLWLVDVNLQJRIXV,RIWHQUHÁHFWXSRQWKH
words of Neale Donald Walsch who I feel urges
us in his book, Tomorrow’s God, to consider
that it’s “not a question of whether you have what it
takes, but whether you take what you have and use it”.
Therefore it is important to evaluate our personal
commitment and intent for once we make a
heartfelt personal commitment to do anything,
the journey is half complete. Our commitment
creates a potent receptor site. So, when we
combine that commitment with the power of our
intent, our way becomes clear and the powerful

Additionally, I deeply resonate with what
Barbara Marciniak says in her book, Family of
Light, which is that “it is vital for anyone questioning
their existence on this planet and the direction of our
collective conscious and unconscious to remember
that we are a ‘family of light’, that we share an ancient

HRisk Of Being A Spiritual TrailblazerI

There is risk and discomfort associated
with being a spiritual trailblazer. We can get
enamored of our prisons and therefore unwilling
to risk our current way of being because of the
promise of acceptance. If we don’t risk not
conforming to current cultural norms, if we don’t
risk dismantling the status quo for the freedom
that truth brings, we merely exist. And mere
existence reduces us to the level of useful objects
divorced from our true purpose.

We are invited to co-creatively participate
in the emergence of the next cycle by not only
knowing ourselves but also by being our true
selves. In his book, The Soul of Man Under Socialism
written in 1891, Oscar Wilde wrote, “’Know
Thyself’ (A central component of the philosophy of
Socrates inscribed over the entry to the Temple of
Apollo at Delphi) was written over the portal of the
antique world. Over the portal of the new world, ‘Be
Thyself’ shall be written.”

HIn The Company Of HelpI

Many of us feel beleaguered by the magnitude
of the commitment and intent energy a spiritual
evolutionary process requires. We sometimes
feel weary attempting to overcome restrictions
of consciousness by ourselves. The great news
is that we don’t need to do it alone. In addition
to ourselves we have what I experience as our
Celestial Council assisting us and we have the
possibility of support from our ancestors. We can
draw inspiration from the words Mr. Franzoni
placed in the mouth of the character, Cinque,

78
#HAPTER .INE s 7HY 5S

IURPWKHÀOPAmistad, and we can indeed “call

into the past, far back to the beginning of time and
beg them to come and help. And they must come. For
at this moment, [we are] the whole reason they have
existed at all.”
We can also participate in group gatherings.
The phenomenon of group strength is well
known, and many group participants feel
that working with energies in a group format
provides ways to compensate for the constrictions
prevalent on Earth. Groups provide a kind of
safe harbor as well as an incentive to continue
the journey. The power of the group can increase
awareness, enhance receptivity, and contribute
to leaps in consciousness that might otherwise
take months or years to accomplish. Bringing
our individual consciousness into the group
process exponentially multiplies a group’s
commitment and intent to contribute to a critical
mass of awakened and reclaimed truth and
freedom. This multiplied commitment and intent
DPSOLÀHV WKH ULSSOHV RXW LQWR WKH ZRUOG PLQG
In addition, the group dynamic encourages
participants to take their expanded energetic
awareness and enhanced receptivity away with
them so their presence in any physical area can
have a potentially profound ripple effect on the
consciousness of others.

79
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

There are various spiritual groups gathering

around the globe for purposes ranging from
consciousness expansion, illuminating growth,
metaphysical development and meditative
transformation. Some of these groups
teach methods of tuning and aligning the
electromagnetic leylines of the Earth and systems
for establishing planetary, solar system and
galactic grids, while others outline steps that
support the release of karma and karmic ties
and offer practices that promote individual and
earth ascension. Still others explain processes
for entering higher dimensions and accessing the
Akashic records. In my opinion, many of these
groups become clearinghouses for uncovering
and disseminating threads of truth.

HRising To The TaskI

All previous paradigm shifts are testaments to
those who rose to accomplish the task of casting
off the shackles of in-authenticity, compliance
and powerlessness. Each choice that aligns us
with freedom of expression - the freedom to be
our true selves - is not an opportunity to take a
rest but rather a platform on which to construct

80

the next rung of the ladder. It is time to make

holy the construction of that ladder. It is time
for us to leave each and every place (actual or
metaphorical) that implies bondage. It is time
to venture forth from prisons of disempowering
habitual submission, conformity and comfortable
mediocrity. It is time to cast off anything and
everything that interferes with our full self-
expression and that thwarts our spiritual progress

dreaming about self-governing spiritual freedom
is over. We have the unique opportunity to
participate in its emergence and I pray that our
choice of self-governing spiritual freedom will
dominate our every waking moment.

HA Word About ProphecyI
My strong sense is that the approaching
much prophesied date of 12/21/2012 is already
beaming an invitation to us as evolutionary
agents to become spiritual adults. The ending of
various cultural calendars and their correlation
with numerous prophetic texts and the heralding

So much has been prophesied about the date
12/21/2012 by so many cultures and individual
prophets or seers that it seems evident that the

83

a prophet’s purpose isn’t just to issue warnings

or forecast cataclysm or propose rescue plans.
Prophecy isn’t an exact science of fortune telling
or event prediction.
With most, if not all prophecies, there is a
universal principle operating which asserts that
what might happen and can happen depend a
great deal on the thoughts, feelings and actions of
the reality creating participants. Because of our
co-creative participation nothing is a foregone
conclusion. Therefore if what has been or is being
prophesied did not or does not occur, it’s because
the reality creating participants (us) changed the
probability lines. In simple terms, what was
prophesied to occur did not and consequently
we have no grounds upon which to deem the
prophecy or the Prophet false.
This is reinforced quite beautifully by the
words of St. Germaine, “…prophecy is not set in
stone…if we respond to the Prophets’ warnings and
apply the spiritual solutions placed before us, calamity
can be averted”.

HSummons To ActionI
The insights and perspectives contained
in prophecies, particularly those that address
probable future events and potential cataclysmic
occurrences are invitations that stir us to awaken,
to open our hearts, to expand our consciousness,
adjust our compasses and risk change.
Prophecies are a summons to action, and it is up
to each of us to determine whether the actions we

Furthermore, as spiritual adults it is also
crucial that we remember that just as there are
distortions of truth currently being perpetuated
in many secular and spiritual belief systems,
these distortions can most certainly be found in
prophetic texts. In fact, to my way of interpreting
it, some of the texts that prophesize catastrophes,
pole shifts, destruction, chemical annihilation,
alien invasions and the day of reckoning are
deliberately encoded to trigger layers of fear,
dread, panic and aggression in order to gain
more and more compliance and therefore control
over the masses.

sources a particular energetic alignment occurred
on our planet in August 1987 at the Harmonic

alignment include information about how the
plane of our solar system became synchronized
with the center of our Milky Way Galaxy in 1987
and how at the point of synchronization, our solar
system began moving toward an anticipated
intersection with the center of our Milky Way
Galaxy (at 27° Sagittarius) which occurs on
12/21/2012. It seems that in 1987 we reached
synchronization and in 2012 we will reach the
intersection point. This intersection of our solar

HThe Approaching 2012

Gateway To FreedomI
From my evolutionary psycho-spiritual
SHUVSHFWLYHWKHÀUVWPRYHPHQWLQKHUDOGHG
an energetic shift in consciousness that had, at its
core, a wake-up call type invitation for each of
us to begin preparing for our graduation from
spiritual adolescence to spiritual adulthood.
The second movement, which will occur
on 12/21/2012, has to do with completing
our graduation from spiritual adolescence to
spiritual adulthood. We achieve this by crossing
the spiritual adulthood threshold and becoming
evolutionary agents, co-creators of a new era.
In preparation for our graduation, we are
summoned to do our part to dismantle the
current paradigm that exists as part of our
third dimensional reality. Some of the ways we
dismantle the old paradigm include:
ͻ reclaiming and embodying our divinity,

87
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

‡ utilizing the four spiritual adulthood

passkeys,
‡ casting aside outmoded notions,
‡ overthrowing those assumptions that do
not contribute to our destiny,
‡ owning the ‘living truths’ we remember
and recognize,
‡ and walking out of any and all prisons of
habitual submission to beliefs that come
from external sources.
Each and every time we proclaim the ‘living
truth’ we set not only ourselves, but also all that
is on a course toward greater levels of freedom.
There is little place in this paradigm shift for
chains. Let’s allow any chains that have bound
us to dissolve.

HEvolutionary AgentsI
According to the Online Etymology
Dictionary, the word evolve, from the Latin
evolvere, means “to unfold, open out, expand” and
evolution means “an opening of what was closed;; an
unfolding or unrolling of that which was folded.” As
evolutionary agents, it is our destiny to expand,
88
#HAPTER 4EN s 3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD 'ATEWAY TO &REEDOM

to open what has been closed and unfold that

which has been folded. Our evolutionary destiny
comprises our highest and boldest form of self-
expression as well as our right to experience
IXOÀOOPHQW DQG EOLVV )XUWKHUPRUH RXU GHVWLQ\
LV WR OLYH D OLIH RI VLJQLÀFDQFH ÀOOHG ZLWK RQH
deliciously sacred moment after another. During
this process if we forget the truth of who we really
are and why we’re here, in the next moment we
can remember. As Michael Berg reminds us in
his work entitled, Becoming Like God, “each time
you don’t forget, it gets a little easier to remember.”

HThe Fulfillment Of Our DestinyI

,DUGHQWO\HQFRXUDJHXVWRIXOÀOORXUGHVWLQ\
by being renegades. Let’s be in the company of
other renegades we admire – Gandhi, Yeshua,
Mary Magdalene, Martin Luther King, Nelson
Mandela, Golda Meier, Mother Teresa. Let’s
remember that Yeshua summoned us with his
words “these things can you do and greater things
than these.” Let’s celebrate being courageous
renegades who question indoctrinated beliefs,
who stand off and apart from the herd as

89
3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD s -ARIANGELA 0INO ,ANDAU

independent thinking messengers sent forth to

advocate for new principles.
As we courageously risk opening our personal
holy cosmic hearts and replace the truths that
have been holding us with the ‘living truths’
resonating deep within us, that encoded knowing
about what is right and true for us will re-organize
many aspects of our being. Additionally, that
process will naturally align us with our innate
desire to direct our lives in accordance with an
authentic inner compass, and that alignment will
qualitatively change our lives. Furthermore, we
will become infused with a fervid desire to share
the possibility of freedom with all who will hear.
The opportunity to do this is here and choice
is at the heart of the matter. We’ve always had a
choice but now we’re vividly aware that we have
a choice, and it is a profound choice.

HWings Of The FutureI

The current paradigm shift is colossal and
the door to our spiritual graduation is open. The
2012 gateway to freedom beckons us to :

90
#HAPTER 4EN s 3PIRITUAL !DULTHOOD 'ATEWAY TO &REEDOM

‡ embody our divine cosmic essence identity

as emanations of the Source,
‡ encounter and reveal our authentic selves,
‡ undergo self-examination,
‡ separate restrictive beliefs from the ‘living
truth’,
‡ commit ourselves to the ongoing process of
integration,
‡ DQG UDGLDWH RXU VSLULWXDO VLJQLÀFDQFH LQ
each and every moment.
None of us need to dream of self-governing
spiritual adulthood and its inherent freedom
nor hold onto a hope for a better tomorrow. It
is here and we can participate in its emergence
by putting on our mystical robes, embodying
our essence, illuminating the threads of truth and
participating in weaving these threads into the
larger tapestry. If we take these steps, we become
the wings of the future.
