DE GUZMAN STEM B- SIMPLICITY

WHAT I KNOW PAGE-2

1. What should be considered by the communicators when communicating their ideas?
Communicators should know how to communicate clearly with the receiver. Their message
should be 3C’s which is clear, concise and consistent that is an easy way to understand and to
not give the receiver a confusion.
2. How do you think the communication process works successfully?
Communication works properly if the receiver understand it clearly. If the receiver gave a
feedback it only implies that he/she received the message.
3. How do the models of communication help you understand the various components of
communication?

Communication models help us to identify and understand how communication works. It gave
us an idea how to plan and present an ideas how to communicate properly and productively
without
confusing the receiver.

WHAT’S IN PAGE-3
1. The term ‘’source’’ can also be termed as the ‘’speaker’’ in communication. TRUE
2. The individual whom the message is directed is called sender. TRUE
3. Barrier is the medium or the way the message is transmitted. FALSE
4. Decoding is the process of interpreting the encoded message of the speaker by the
receiver. TRUE
5. Channel is any ideas, feelings or meanings produced by the sender for the receiver. FALSE

1. An interaction between two characters that is linear or one way process.

The Queen’s Gambit. The scene when Beth’s Harmon Final Chess. Borgov said to her ‘’It’s
your game. Take it’’ when she’s about to aim her last move. Beth Harmon didn’t say anything or
a feedback but we can see that she understand what Borgov said.

2. An interaction between two characters that is transactional or has a collaborative exchange

of messages.
Enola Holmes. The scene when Enola and Tewksbury first met on the train. Tewksbury
said ‘’I’ll have you know. I have just undertaken a particularly daring escape .‘’ Enola reply that
‘’You have not escaped. There is a man in a brown bowler hat currently on this train searching
for you, and once he finds you he will think I helped hide you and I will be endangered by this.
Therefore, I ask you to get out of this carriage.’’

1. For the Linear model, Explain how the elements of communication impact the exchange of
communication.
Linear communication is a one-way process. It is often use in speech, television,
broadcast and etc. that impact people a lot. It is also called straightforward communication
because it doesn’t have a feedback. It helps and gave an impact to give a message, mostly use of
businessman/woman.

2. For the transaction model, Explain the elements of communication impact the exchange of
communication.

If Linear model is a one-way process, transaction model is two-way process. There is a

collaborative exchanging of message unlike Linear model. Transaction model gave a lot of impact of
people, without it we can’t understand the message clearly.

PAGE 11

Shannon-Weaver Model

It is called as ‘’Mother of all

models.’’ It is a one-way process,
however it does not have a
feedback.

Transaction Model

It is two-way process. It is from one

person to another and back. It also
has feedback unlike Shannon-Weaver
model.

Schramm Model

It is a process between an encoder

and decoder. He implies that
communication is incomplete unless
and until the sender received a
feedback of the receiver.

WHAT I CAN DO page 14

Conversations;
You (Sender); Hello Hazel! I just finished fill up the form of Marikina High School. I
chose stem strand. What’s yours?
Receiver; I have chosen HUMSS. I want to be Flight Attendant someday that’s
why’ve chose it. How about you? Why did you chose that strand? We
all know STEM isn’t easy. It’s hell! I didn’t take it because I was scared!
You(Sender); Uhmm… I’m also scared but I still don’t know what I want to be so I
picked that strand. It has many options that I really wanted. This can be
one of a hell year but it’s alright when you are knowing and chasing
your dreams. Someday, I know it’ll be worth it.
Receiver; You’re one of a brave person I know Dan! I know you can do it! Just do
your best and be the best! I am rooting for you!
Model of Communication; Transaction Model
Reflection; It is one of the simpliest model that I can use without having a hard
time and confusing the receiver or my self. For me, Transaction Model
is what fit for me because I always wanted someone to reply or gave a
feedback , for me to much more understand the message.

ASSESSMENT page 16

Shannon-Weaver Model 1. It is a model that depicts communication as a liner or one-way process.

Schramm Model 2. According to this model, encoding and decoding are the two essential
process of an effective communication.

Shannon-Weaver Model 3. It is known as mother of all communication models.

Transaction Model 4. It is a model that features a two-way process with the inclusion of
feedback as one element.

Shannon-Weaver Model 5. This model lacks one element in the communication process; feedback
