Location possibilities: House/ School/ Park/ Storage Room.

~ Idea 1: Starts with an established shot of the school, (medium shot
handheld) a group of kids start leaving school when it gets dark, one
of the kids get angry and starts hitting at the wall. (The shed door
suddenly opens, and it is completely dark (slow zoom in, creepy music
increases). One of the kids dares the other to go inside and when he
does the door suddenly closes (beat drop, screams) and you hear the
kid screaming. The other kids run away.

FILM INSPO IDEAS:

The handheld
rear-view camera
shot transforms
into an
unidentified man
who stalks up
behind them. The fact that his identity was kept a mystery offers this
scene some tension. This camera technique gives the viewer a
participatory sensation, which I would also like to use for my opening
scene.

A graphic match cut

is two bits of film that
contain two closely
designed objects in
identical places in the
frame which are then
joined together. It’s
generated for a
metaphorical
correlation purpose
between the visuals
or its to preserve the
continuity of the
scene.

The use of ‘Binary

Opposites’ of using black
and white connoting
darkness/evil and
pureness/good. They
help to identify a horror
genre related movie from
the title.

These iconographies symbolize

meaning as they have a significant
role. The Grandfather Old Clock and
dolls are to symbolize haunting of
ghosts and paranormal activity that
might occur.
~ Idea 2: The opening would begin with a fade in, to show a
mid-shot of a group of delinquent kids who went to school at
nighttime- in order to show that they are delinquents or
represent it, we’d have the actors dress up in specific clothes
with spray cans, to tell the audience they had plans to
vandalize the school. Throughout the scene lowkey lighting
would be used, to show that its nighttime, along with
flickering school, ambient light to connote the presence of
upcoming danger. As they are about to start their mischief,
the non-diegetic music would go high pitched for suspense,
suddenly they hear the once empty school get filled with
offscreen steps of an unknown being.
FILM INSPO IDEAS:
To

further emphasize the idea of “danger”, or somethings that's “missing”, the

camera won’t have the actors in the middle of the shot, but instead have them to
one side, so the audience can feel a sense of vulnerability from the empty side of
the shot. A sense of “something is coming.
Empty school hallway, with lowkey lighting as
location. Having a place that's usually crowded empty,
creates a feeling of discomfort and an eerie
atmosphere feeling towards viewers.

The use of mid-shot camera angle keeps a sense of

mystery, as only a limited amount of the character or
object is seen on screen, otherwise the rest remains
suspenseful and mysterious to the viewers.

Having flickering lights as the source of “low-key

lighting”, makes the setting or reasoning more
realistic to the viewers- alongside that it’s a
convention of horror, alerting danger and
misfortune that’s about to take place.
~ Idea 3: The opening will begin with an establishing shot of
a house at nighttime then a low angle shot of a group of
teenagers walking down the basement (lighting then changes
to low-key) finding a mysterious, old game. Then a close-up
shot of one of the actors blowing the dust off the game.
Suddenly, the lights begin to flicker as one of the teenagers
open the board game and read the rule book. Non-diegetic
creepy music plays as the camera shows the audience the
warning and the teenagers beginning to play the game.

Final Idea:

It starts with displaying brief scenes with black colored credits on display. A
cut scene at a low angle of a man walking in with dirty boots (title shown)
diegetic sound of heavy boot footsteps and non-diegetic sound of creepy
music, then a cut of this unknown man wearing gloves (title shown), then a
cut of foggy bloody splashed mirror (title shown) diegetic water rushing
sound. Finally, as the blood washes away, it shows the camera at high
angle of the sink and it zooms rapidly into the circular sink as the eerie
music comes to a crescendo, which graphically cuts to a man's eye
opening.
The mise-en-scene starts with the man's eye opening; it begins to zoom out
slowly, and you can see the confusion in his eyes turn into fear, heavy
breathing and quick heartbeat as diegetic sound. He discovers he is
gagged and begins making sounds and shifting, face is slightly bruised and
bloody with messy hair. With chains and belts, he is tied down to a chair,
keeping the camera level at mid-waist. From this moment on, Creepy music
is steadily emerging again. At a low angle, we see footsteps approach him,
the floor is all bloody, the man is wearing the same muddy boots and he's
carrying a weapon. In the POV of the anonymous person staring down at
the man tied up at high angle, the man begins to panic and sob. A quick
zoom in on the man strapped while he immediately closes his eye, and the
screen goes dark, non-diegetic sound hits a crescendo. The title of the
movie is displayed "The Last Kill" with black typography edited in with
flickering lights.
