Club Officers It has been my pleasure to serve as your President over the last four years. Thank you for your

News Staff Corner:
We’re back, in spite of a prolong absence and the COVID 19 pandemic. We hope all members and families are
doing well and have been safe during these trying times. For those members and families who have been impacted
by the Corona Virus we sincerely hope all are on a speedy recovery and want you to know that you have been in
our hearts, minds and prayers.
For those of you who do not know we have had an election for Club officers at the Annual Membership meeting.
They are – President Ghassan Najm, Vice President Nabil Takla, Secretary Louis Najamy, Treasurer Bill Asmar,
Assistant Treasurer Mark Chory.
In order to keep the membership updated on the Club’s business and condition several emails have been sent out,
some on a weekly basis, trying to keep members involved in their Club. As the COVID 19 protocols become
more and more relaxed we will try to resume some type of timely newsletter publication. Please feel free to let us
know your feelings concerning our newsletter by emailing or in a letter to either Ghassan Najm at
najmgj@charter.net or to Lou Najamy at louisnajamy@comcast.net or postage mail to LAC, 22 West Street,
Danbury, CT, 06810. We need to hear from you.
For those faithful advertisers who place ads in the newsletter, we are trying to determine how and when the
newsletter will be handled this year. Information on the status of the newsletter will be passed along to you as
soon as decisions are made and schedules of publications have been set. Thank you all for your patience in these
matters.
Member News
Your club has several new members who have joined over the past few months. Let us welcome the following
new members: Mark Najamy, Andrew Fisher, Michael Romano, and Freddy Jeha. As our Club gets back to some
kind of normalcy, we hope to attract more men into becoming active members in the Club.
To all current members your 2021 Annual Club dues can be sent to LAC, 22West Street, Danbury, CT 06810
attention Treasurer or dropped off at the Club. It has been a tough year but your Board of Directors along with
your elected officers has taken steps to keep expenses down and spending to a minimum. In fact, the Club’s
treasury is healthy enough to retire 3 bonds this year and hopefully continue retiring 3 bonds per year thereafter.
Don’t forget to sign in when you come to the Club and wear a mask while in the Club. The sign in book is by the
rear door of the card room. If you bring a guest mask and sign in are required of them also. Don’t forget to sign
out as well. Member and guest must sign a COVID waiver found beneath the sign in book.
Finally, if for some reason you have forgotten or lost your rear door access code please get in touch with Lou
Najamy at louisnajamy@comcast.net or home phone 203-792-3559. Reminder – don’t let anyone use your code
and do not use another’s code. This is most important for contact tracing the COVID 19 virus if a member tests
positive. It could be used to notify those who were in contact with the infected person.
Reminder – 2021 Club Annual Membership dues. We thank all those who have send them in already. If you have
not yet, please see Treasurer Bill Asmar or Asst. Treasurer Mark Chory or mail a check to the Club address as
soon as possible. Remember to be a member in good standing one must be current in yearly dues.
Health and Welfare:
Please keep in your prayers our ill members and/or their family members and wishing them speedy recovery.
Notify Past Pres. Mike Caravakis, whenever a member falls seriously ill by sending an email to
caravakis@aol.com.

Ladies Auxiliary Events/Fundraiser:

Savers - Start your spring cleaning! We are collecting donated items (Clothes, Shoes, Purses, Backpacks); more info to follow.
Flamingo Yard bombs - Yard signs to raise funds for our Scholarship Drive. Honor a graduate or raise LAC/LAX awareness in your
community; more info to follow
Community Events:
St. Anthony Maronite Church - Annual 50/50 Raffle to be drawn on June 20th. Grand Prize of $10K, and 4 $500 prizes.

We are proud to announce the 48th Annual Lebanon-American Club Scholarship Awards to be presented to a
Club member's son or daughter on Thursday, June 17, 2021. The graduating recipients will be recognized for
academic achievement, fine character and leadership ability. Scholarships will be awarded to individuals who plan
to pursue higher education and who demonstrate their ability to achieve academic success.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS are as follows:

• Applicant must be graduating from high school, prep school, or trade school this school year.
• Applicant must be continuing education in at least a two-year program such as college, junior college, nursing school or
other educational institution.
• Applicant must be the son or daughter of a member of the Lebanon-American Club or member of the Ladies Auxiliary
who is single mother. Father (or mother in the case of the Auxiliary) must be a member in good standing for at least two
years, this year as of January 2019.
• Applicants must complete the scholarship application, essay and submit Digital photo of himself/herself
(Closeup/Passport Photo like) no later than Monday, May 3, 2021.
• Applicants are asked to provide personal information including names of parents, the high school attended, college
choice, future goals, etc.
6. Scholarship Selection Committee will interview each applicant at appointments to be scheduled after submission of
scholarship application at a set date. Due to Covid-19, the interviews will be scheduled via Zoom sessions.

Scholarship applicant's attendance is required at the Dinner on June 17, 2021, to be eligible for any award, exceptions will be
made for extreme circumstances and Covid-19 related. While formal invitations will be mailed please save the date and note
reservations are required by Wed. May 28, 2021
