First-Time Setup Guide

VALLEYLAB™ LS10 GENERATOR

BEFORE YOU START You will need a laptop, USB A to B cable, and small Phillips-head
screwdriver.

IMPORTANT The Valleylab™ LS10 generator must be set up before use. A warning
symbol appears on the generator until it has been set up.

Follow the steps below to set up your generator. If you need additional help, go to www.
covidien.com/valleylabexchange, select the Valleylab™ LS10 generator, and download the First-
Time Setup Tutorial. For the Valleylab™ LS10 Service Manual, go to www.BioMedConnect.com.

Installing and Configuring Valleylab™ Exchange


NOTE Do not connect the generator to your computer until instructed.
1. Go to www.covidien.com/valleylabexchange. Select the Valleylab™ LS10
generator on the website. Download the Valleylab™ Exchange Installer to your
desktop.

2. Locate the ValleylabExchange.exe Installer icon on your desktop. Double-click


STEP 2 it, and follow the prompts to install the software.

NOTE The Valleylab™ Exchange application works with the Windows


platform. For information on which operating systems are currently
supported, please refer to the Valleylab™ Exchange User’s Guide, which can
be downloaded at www.covidien.com/valleylabexchange.

3. L ocate the VLEXClient icon on your desktop and double-click it to start the
STEP 3 software. When the User Account Control pop-up displays, click Yes.

NOTE For first-time setup, a username and password are not required.

4. C
 lick First-Time Setup located on the lower left corner of the
Valleylab™ Exchange Sign In screen. This will establish the initial
connection to the server to configure Valleylab™ Exchange.

5. When
 the new window opens, verify a green indicator next to Server in the
menu on the left, and a green indicator showing Online in the lower right
corner.

6. Click Logout in the upper right corner of the screen.


NOTE
7. Click the T in the upper right corner of the screen to close the Valleylab™
Exchange application. Configuration of Valleylab™ Exchange is complete; you
are now ready to setup your generator.

Set the Generator Location
IMPORTANT While using Valleylab™ Exchange, only one
generator may be connected to your computer.

1. G
 ain access to the USB port through the back cover plate of
the generator. Plug the USB A to B cable into your computer
and port at the back of the generator.

2. P lug in and turn on the Valleylab™ LS10 generator. Once the


STEP 2 generator boots up, a warning symbol will appear.

3. Locate the VLEXClient icon on your desktop and double-click


it to start the software.

NOTE To set the generator location, an Internet


connection is not required.

4. Click First-Time Setup.

5. When the green status bar is at 100%, click Set Country.

6. F rom the drop down list, select the country where the
generator will be used and click Apply.

STEP 5 7. W
 hen the green status bar is at 100%, location selection is
complete.

8. Click Logout in the upper right corner of the screen. Then


click the T in the upper right corner to close the Valleylab™
Exchange application.

9. Disconnect the USB cable and replace the back cover plate
on the generator.

NOTE First-time setup is now complete. You must restart


the generator to clear the error notification prior to first
use.
