Module 6: Digital Resources (Virtual Tools)

CONTRIBUTOR NAME RESOURCE NAME + LINK GRADE(S) DESCRIPTION

APPROPRIATE FOR

Marhielle Gelera XtraMath K-8 XtraMath is a program focused on

https://home.xtramath.org/ basic math fact fluency. It’s similar
to Mad Minute but one question
shows at a time. If the student gets
the answer wrong a certain number
of times, the program will give the
answer for the student to type out
themselves and move on. There is a
“Race the Teacher” option, in which
students have to correctly answer a
certain amount of math questions
faster than the “teacher” online. The
actual teacher has access to the
student’s progress, and there is a
certificate that can be given to
students once they pass a full unit,
such as multiplication.
Marhielle Gelera Music Play Online Preschool to Gr. 8 Music Play Online offers songs and
https://musicplayonline.com/ lessons corresponding to the grade
level chosen. There are also several
games training the ear, introducing
instruments, and applying the skills
learned from the lessons. There are
multiple instruments on the sidebar
that students can get familiar with
without having to have an
instrument in front of them. It offers
units and lesson plans. It is a
subscription-based application, but
the first month is free.
Marhielle Gelera SEPUP Gr. 6-12 SEPUP is an issue-oriented science
https://sepuplhs.org/index.htm resource. It takes the science
curriculum (from the US) and informs
the students/teachers of what issues
may be happening in regards to the
topic/unit, such as “Disruptions in
Ecosystems.” SEPUP provides teaching
materials, assessment materials, and
supporting videos for the unit.

Katrina Crawshaw Thrillist - Virtual Travel K-12 A compilation of virtual travel

most remote and interesting corners
of the world. This is a big list!
Katrina Crawshaw Explorable: For Kids K-12 Creative Commons Science
https://explorable.com/kids- resources, made to be accessible to

resources, tips, articles, and how-
to’s to become better scientific
thinkers.
Katrina Crawshaw Biophilia K-12 (loosely at “The Biophilia Educational Project is a
https://biophiliaeducational.org younger grades) large-scale pilot project that builds on
the participation of academics,
scientists, artists, teachers and
students at all academic levels. It is
based around creativity as a teaching
and research tool, where music,
technology and the natural sciences
are linked together in an innovative
way.”

Devon Allen No Red Ink K-12 No Red Ink is a customizable

www.noredink.com grammar teaching tool. Where the
questions are generated from each
student’s favorite celebrities,
hobbies, TV shows, and friends.
The program has students playing
with language has them drag in
commas, click words to capitalize
them, throw out unwanted
punctuation, and edit parts of
sentences.

Teachers create the class account

and can then send out an invite
code. You get to choose the
assignments and see instant feed
back and progress that the students
have made. What it does lack is the
teaching of the grammar concept.
These are often simplified and not
easy to grasp without the aid of the
teacher but, it’s a pretty cool and
interactive way to bring grammar
back top the class room!

Devon Allen Code Academy Gr. 7-12 Code academy is a pretty sweet
www.codeacademy.com Though this really program if you are interested in
depends on the tech coding. It does come with added
savvy nature of the costs but also has free features.
student.
It offers a wide variety of “courses”
where you can learn basic html,
javascript, python, website design
and more. Lessons range from step
by step read alongs to video
instruction and livestreams. They
offer features where the students
can interact with other students not
just in the classroom but anyone
who is taking the course from
around the world. There’s a lot of
free content to get someone started
if they are interested in learning to
code.

Devon Allen Sworkit k-12 Offers a variety of guided workouts

www.sworkit.com for kids of a wide age range. Each
work out provides a photograph and
a limited description of each
exercise if you choose not to make
an account. This aspect I find
limiting for students and some
teachers who don’t want another
password to remember or spam
email ending up in their accounts
when they don’t use the tool for a
while.

When you sign up for an account

you are led through a series of
questions about what you want to
do and achieve. This can be helpful
for teachers wanting to design a
workout or students who want to
create their own workout plan.

Once you’ve gone through the

“interview” period you are prompted
to pay for a subscription if you want
their developed plans.

Suggestion: follow popsugar fitness

on youtube or check out hiit
workouts on youtube

Clea King Scratch K-7 Scratch lets students program their

https://scratch.mit.edu/ own interactive stories, games and
animations and share what they
have made with others in an online
community. It helps students start to
learn programming in a fun way and
starts them thinking in creative and
systematic ways. It also gets them
to work collaboratively. All the things
that the new curriculum is asking
our students to do. It has been
designed and is moderated by the
Scratch Foundation, which is a non-
profit. It is provided free of charge.
Clea King Story Bird K-7 Storybird is a creative writing
https://storybird.com/ platform that they say is proven to
boost young learners writing skills. It
has been designed with tools that
they say will inspire young people to
build confidence and creativity in
their writing. It is the world’s largest
language arts program. It features
authors for students to read and
learn from. And you can exchange
stories with other students from all
over the world. Students can get
feedback from authors, editors and
teachers, so it really immerses
students in the writing experience.
You have to pay, but it is not too
expensive.

Clea King Biblionasium K-7 This provides students with a fun,

https://www.biblionasium.co safe, social reading community.
m/#tab/content-winter-picks Great for students who struggle with
reading. It helps parents and
teachers to find books that are at
reading level for individual students.
It helps to explore book discovery
and would help students to become
active contributors to the library
commons. It is easy to use so kids
can be independent with their book
exploration and discovery. It is free.
Kathleen Grainger Go Noodle -Pre-k to about grade GoNoodle has added a lot of new items
https://www.gonoodle.com/ 6 over the past year since Covid-19 has
-new section: Good forced a lot of remote learning. There is
Family gonoodle Energy for Grown Ups still the Educator side where there are
https://family.gonoodle.com/ fun physical literacy activities, along
with SEL and Mindfulness activities.
Their categories of activities have
improved over the past year.
The biggest addition I see in response
to the remote learning this past year is
the Family section. When you click on
the Get Started Now box in the upper
right side (past the Educator login that I
usually click), there is a pop up window
that gives you the option for Families.

It is easy to navigate for younger

children (and super easy for a busy
parent at home who’s trying to work
and keep their children productive). The
videos, which cover physical literacy as
well as SEL are not that long (under 5-6
minutes on average). This keeps with
the short attention span of students.
This also is useful in areas where there
isn’t very good internet service. My
sister falls into both of these categories
- rural Vermont, with 3 kids under 8,
and their school going remote because
of rising cases. Add a couple weeks
worth of super cold winter weather
where the kids couldn’t be outside. It
also doesn’t cost anything to
register/login.

At school I use the educator side every

once in a while to shake things up. My
grade 7s groan, but they do get out of
their seats. They don’t necessarily do
the activity but they watch, sing along
and get a little silly. When my objective
is to get the blood flowing back into
their brains to help with refocus, it is
achieved with GoNoodle.

Kathleen Grainger Nitro Type Grades 4-8 perhaps This is a typing practice site. I like that
the passage to type is relatively short.
(any younger the When you complete the passage it
students hands aren’t does tell you WPM and gives you
big enough to span the accuracy percentage. One needs to
keyboard properly; keep eyes focused on the passage you
and any older, this are typing (instead of the cars racing
game might seem too above). It will also highlight incorrect
childish) key strokes in red as you go along.

A student can just play in guest mode,

but if they want the points and the rest
of the stuff, they’ll have to sign up.

I’m not too keen on all the advertising

that is surrounding the game, but at
least it’s not popups.

On the bottom right side of the page is

a link to typing.com that can take you to
typing lessons. Again students have the
option to use just as a guest or sign up
to save progress.

Kathleen Grainger PBS Learning Media K-12 I went to this site looking for some
Science lesson ideas for my class and
found the site easy to navigate as long
as I wasn’t trying to find BC curriculum
(this is American).

For students and parents (without any

teacher guidance), can search easily
for topics they’re looking for. Content
comes in forms of videos, interactive
lessons, lesson plans, etc.

I like that you don’t have to sign up to

access the material. If you wanted to
save the material, making a login would
be useful.

As a teacher, I see when I sign in, the

lessons can be assigned to Google
Classroom. No Microsoft Teams tie in
though.

Laura Syms CBC jeunesse K-7 French Immersion This is a great resource for French
https://ici.radio- OR immersion students. It was helpful last
Core French
canada.ca/jeunesse/scolair spring when kids were at home as most
e of them had access to this site. It has
different videos and games and
reinforces French literacy.
I also have used it for core French
classes in high school for
comprehension exercises and listening.

Laura Syms Lalilo K-2 but use for grade This is an online phonics program for
Lalilo | Online Phonics 4 French immersion as students that is also available in
program for Distance Learning well French. It is in an engaging game
format that takes the fight away from
home based reading. It states that it is
for K-2, but my grade 4s enjoyed it as
well. Teachers have access to all the
class data and have the ability to
assign specific lessons.

Laura Syms Barkerville, BC K-8 This is a great opportunity for students

Visit Virtually – Barkerville in grade 4 or 5, but would also be good
Historic Town & Park for other grades. The guided tour is a
great opportunity to see Barkerville and
ask questions. It is live and provided
the opportunities to participate in class
or at home. There is also access to
www.richinhistory.ca which is
prerecorded. It includes a teacher’s
guide, glossary, and videos.

such as colouring pages of artwork in
the collection, digital jigsaw puzzles of
artwork in the collection, play
simulations such as testing light
sources in a cave or a simulation of the
aftermath of a supernova. Some really
cool activities and games that students
and families would have a great time
exploring!

Angela Stevens Google Arts & Culture K-12 Google partnered with over 2,000
https://artsandculture.google.c cultural institutions and artists globally
om to bring this resource together. The
images and videos are high resolution
and make for an excellent, high-quality
visual resource. Especially relevant in
current times (pandemic) with less
ability to travel to museums to see
artwork and artifacts up close.

Nina Ruck Duolingo K-12 This is a great free online tool that can
https://www.duolingo.com/ help with a variety of languages.
Students can navigate and pick various
themes to learn. Can be extra
supplementary resources or just for
more oral practice or just for enjoyment.

Nina Ruck Skillshare 10-12 This site has some great free classes
https://www.skillshare.com/bro for students to learn various things that
wse/free-classes may interest them. Students looking at
creating an online shop, digital
illustration, entrepreneurs, interior
design, visual design, visual thinking,
building an engaged community

may connect well with a variety of
students that share in some of these
passions that they may not always
have time to explore in class.

Nina Ruck Outschool K-12 Outschool has been created due to

gn=blog_header#abkmtv7je6 I stumbled across this and I thought,
wow, what a fantastic thing to donate
to. There are free classes and materials
for most subject areas. This has things
for students but also has teachers
resources as well. The site allows you
to choose either by age or subject.
Check it out!

Guillaume Robidoux Prodigy Grades 1-8 Prodigy is a fantastic, engaging math

https://www.prodigygame.com/ tool that both teachers and parents can
main-en/ use to get students begging to do math.
The website is a first-person role-
playing game in which students get a
character to travel throughout a magical
world and engage in battles - the catch
being that in order to win a battle, they
need to answer math questions. The
more battles they win, the more coins
they get to buy accessories for their
character, or further their way through
the game. The game is aligned with the
Canadian curriculum (though based on
Ontario standards), and
teachers/parents can set up a class
profile, track students progress, see
what areas they may be struggling in,
and set themes for the week (meaning
students will only get those ‘type’ of
questions for the week - i.e. long
division). Kids love it, it’s free, and it is
easy to use both at home and in
school.

Guillaume Robidoux CBBC Newsround K-7 The BBC also has CBBC (which stands
https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsrou for Children’s British Broadcasting
nd/news/watch_newsround Corporation) and every day they host a
short, 10-minute news segment for
kids. They talk about everything
current, and include fun/strange news
segments for kids (everything from
COVID news to cute pandas rolling in
the snow). It is a great way to present
news to kids in a way that is accessible
and appropriate for them. They also
have a multitude of different games,
quizzes, and chat forums for students
to take part in. Though it is UK based,
my students love watching the news
every day and many of them partake in
the quizzes and watch further videos at
home.
Guillaume Robidoux Logiciel Educatif K-12 As a French-immersion teacher, this
https://www.logicieleducatif.fr/ website was a god-send, as there
aren’t many French resources
available. The website is host to a
multitude of games for French
grammar, math, reading, and writing
activities (you can try to make
conjugations fun!). Alongside each
game, there are worksheets and
examples to help guide non-French
speaking parents, or to use as exit slips
for teachers. The website is French,
and therefore the layout is using their
educational systems system, but an
easy conversion is found online and
material levels range from Kindergarten
to High School.

Kathryn Boyd Nitrotype Grades 4- 9 I didn’t see a specific age group so I

https://www.nitrotype.com/ guessed based on skills and interest
level.
This is a site dedicated to typing skills.
Students get to choose a car that they
want to race and then race their car by
typing. It has a teacher portal where
you can sign your students up, track
points, and have them race each other.
Students can choose the type of car
and season they want to race in.

I like that students don’t have to have a

login but they could if it was something
that the teacher wanted to track.

Kathryn Boyd Farm Food 360 K-9 This is a very well designed website
https://www.farmfood360.ca/ that allows you to investigate the life of
farmers and farming styles. You can
look at a variety of farms such as
chicken farms, mink farms, milk/dairy
farms, apple orchards, and oat
processing farms.
Each link will take you to a variety of
videos that teach you more about the
farm and its farming techniques.

You can access this website using a

computer, phone, or VR. There is an
opportunity to take a VR tour which is
pretty cool.

The website will also link you to age

appropriate current issues articles and
educator tools for discussing these
issues in class.

There is also a link to farming

vocabulary.

Kathryn Boyd Feed the Monster Primary/Junior This is an app that is free to download.
https://play.google.com/store/a Students can play a variety of games
pps/developer? that focus on developing their reading
id=Curious+Learning skills. It provides tracing activities,
phonics matching, vocab memory
games, parent tracking, and multi-
player use.

It looks like a fun and engaging way for

students to engage in reading activities.

You can choose from a variety of

languages.
Raman Badesha Google Earth Education Grades 5-12 (primary Google Earth Education serves to
https://www.google.com/earth/ could also work, but connect students to the surrounding
education/ they wouldn't be able world by exposing them to cultures,
to do much of the nature and geography. For example,
advanced stuff. when learning about rivers, students
can measure how a river has changed
its shape overtime. Students are
exposed to a variety of biomes and
cities and can learn all about diversity
by using Google Earth. Google Earth
Education allows students to
experience connections with the rest of
the world without ever leaving their
seat.
As previously stated, Google Earth
Education offers a multitude of features
for learning for students. One of the key
features of Google Earth include a
creation tool that allows students to
create their own projects. These
projects can serve to share stories with
the incorporation of the 3D globe that
Google Earth offers. Another important
feature that Google Earth possesses is
the time-lapse tool. This tool has
decades of satellite images that have
been taken overtime; students could
see what their cities and towns looked
like years ago.

Raman Badesha Access Mars K-12 This resource provides students with a
https://accessmars.withgoogle. 3D replica of mars that can be explored
com all 360 degrees. The Curiosity rover
travelled across Mars and took all of
these digital pictures. So, this replica is
not just an artist construction, but it is
the actual surface of Mars. Access
Mars could be combined with a tool
such as Google VR to give students a
virtual field trip experience when
learning about other planets.

Raman Badesha Epic K-7 Epic is a digital reading platform that

https://www.getepic.com provides students with instant,
unlimited access to a number of books,
videos and games. The best part is that
it is free for teachers who can then
share their access with their students! It
is for students that are aged 12 and
under and offers a wide range of books
in the form of: audiobooks, illustrated
books, chapter books and videos.
There are recommendations that are
personalized for students based off of
their age and interests. Furthermore,
the reading progress of students can
also be tracked.

Brynn Hendrix Wonderopolis K-12 Wonderopolis is a website that explores

https://wonderopolis.org/ one question or wonder each day. You
can explore the question of the day by
reading and viewing the information
presented. Wonderopolis also has an
immersive reader where you can listen
to the wonder of the day. Often there
are activities included with the wonder.
On the website you are able to search
topics and see past wonders. Students
are even able to submit their own
questions that they are wondering and
vote on other questions contributed.
There are no logins required to use this
website.

Brynn Hendrix The Kid Should See This K-8 The Kid Should See This is a free
https://thekidshouldseethis.co website that does not require an

Andra Lincke https://studio.code.org/courses K-12 ADST Code.org is a non-profit educational

site that teaches coding for students
from K-12. THey have a series of
courses that students can work through
each grade that teachers could
coordinate with each other to scaffold it.
Their courses are both individulized
and collaborative. They also work well
with buddy classes. Their vision is that
every student in every school has the
opportunity to learn computer science as
part of their core K-12 education. They
are the leading provider of K-12 computer
science curriculum in the largest school
districts in the United States, Code.org
also created the annual Hour of Code
campaign, which has engaged more than
15% of all students in the world.

Andra Lincke http://www.mysteryquests.ca/in 6-12 Socials Mystery Quest is a phenomenal

dexen.html website where students can use their
detection skills to solve historical
mysteries on a variety of real Canadian
unsolved mysteries that connect with
our curriculum..
These interactive, user-friendly lessons
are designed for use by individuals
working alone or with a partner;
suggestions for adapting these
resources for use by an entire class are
found in the "Teacher Notes" attached
to each MysteryQuest

Andra Lincke https://film-english.com/ 6-12 ELL, English, Film English is an independent

Media Arts publisher which has the largest online
collection of short film lesson plans,
feature-length film viewing guides and
other pedagogical materials for English
language teachers and students. This
is a fee based website where you can
pay an annual fee for unlimited access
or purchase individual lessons. The
lessons are straight-forward and user
friendly, making a good resource for
parents to use if they want some extra
learning material or help for their kids.

Jazmine Ghuman https://mysterydoug.com/dista K-5 Mystery Doug is a website that has

nce-learning videos, lesson plans, and resources for
students and teachers. They have
created videos where Doug answers
burning questions that kids might have
in a fun and engaging way. The
answers are based on research and not
only include “why” questions but also
step by step guides for anything kids
might wonder about. The Mystery Doug
video portion is always free and can be
played in classrooms and libraries or
even at home. However, there is
another part which is the “distance
learning” portion of the site, which
includes stress-free science lessons for
distance learning. In this section there
are lesson videos as well as activities
and extensions that go with these
activities. This portion asks for you to
sign up to receive a trial free until 2022
however, I was still able to play the
video and see the lesson. I’m thinking
there are some lessons that are free
and possibly even more if you sign up.
“Our ultimate purpose is to ensure
the next generation of children grow
up and see that it’s an amazing
world we live in, full of possibility
and wonder—and that they develop
the ability to figure things out for
themselves”.

Jazmine Ghuman https://onlineclassroom.cangeo K-12 Storyline Online streams videos

education.ca/ featuring actors reading children’s
books alongside creative illustrations.
This is a wonderful site as it is available
24 hours a day for everyone worldwide
and also includes a “teacher guide” that
opens up a document with a lesson
plan/extension that goes with the story.
This is great because students can
have stories read to them at any time
online and teachers are also able to
play this in their classrooms. They have
a great selection of books and you can
search in the search bar for what grade
you are looking for and with each story
it shows all the information about the
book, the summary, run level and
suggested grade level.“Storyline
Online is a program of the SAG-
AFTRA Foundation. The Foundation
is a nonprofit organization that relies
entirely on gifts, grants and
donations to fund Storyline Online
and produce all of its videos”.
Jazmine Ghuman https://storylineonline.net K-4 Canadian Geographic Education’s
Online Classroom is an online
classroom with new activities and
resources that come out every week to
help with learning from home or
distance teaching. They have a
community of teachers that create the
geography lesson plans. The site is
very easy to use and has different tabs
for different grade levels. There is a
“Register Now” tab however it doesn’t
seem that you need to register at all to
use the resources and the registering
would be just to receive the emails,
new updates and occasionally different
resource packages.

Leigh Richardson Math Antics 4-8 Math Antics is an excellent resource for
https://mathantics.com supporting students with mathematical
concepts. It features videos on a variety
of math concepts in a clear, concise
and engaging way that helps students
to understand. All of the Math Antics
videos are free to watch and can all be
found on youtube as well. Math Antics
is great for students who may be
struggling to understand a concept, for
a parent who needs to brush up on
their elementary math skills or for a
teacher who is looking for a different
way to explain a concept! There is a
paid version of Math Antics ($10/year),
where you get access to worksheets
and answer keys, but the videos alone
are an excellent resource.

Leigh Richardson Idéllo K-12 Idéllo is a French video streaming

https://www.idello.org/en platform. It has videos for all grades in
all different subjects. Idéllo is helpful for
students, parents and teachers alike.
To watch the videos you need to make
an account, but once you have an
account you have access to hundreds
of curated French videos related to the
curriculum. There are videos in French
about French language, Science, Math,
Social Studies and so much more. With
a free membership, there is a limited
amount of videos to choose from, but
the number is still massive (I searched
Early Years FSL and still got 788 video
results). Teachers can benefit from this
(especially during online learning) and
assign students videos to watch. It is an
excellent resource for parents to have
access to as well to expose their child
to French during holidays. With the paid
version, teachers can access lesson
plans and unit plans, but they are not
necessary to benefit from this great
resource

Leigh Richardson Teen Book Cloud 6-12 Teen Book Cloud is an online reading
https://www.teenbookcloud.co platform. It is similar to Tumblebooks,
m/home.aspx but for teenagers. Teen Book cloud has
numerous online books for teens.
There are many different categories
including: Graphic Novels, Non Fiction,
Fiction, Drama and Poetry, and more.
Teen Book Cloud also has educational
videos available to watch.

When I was searching Teen Book

Cloud, I discovered that a subscription
is quite expensive, however, I found a
free access link on the Calgary Public
Library page!

This resource is great for students who

cannot get physical copies of books
due to COVID restrictions and also for
students to discover new books once
they have read all the ones they have
at home. The books available on Teen
Book Cloud are not the most popular
books that are out, so don’t expect to
find best sellers here. While the books
may not be the newest or most popular,
they are still a great option!

For many of the books you can change

the font size, style and colour, making it
more accessible for those with visual
impairments and also dyslexia. There is
also a small selection of audiobooks
available!

Shelby Steeves Story Time From Space k-5 On this website you can listen to
astronauts reading stories in space
https://storytimefromspace.co There is also a section called ”Science
m/a-moon-of-my-own-2/ Time Videos” where they conduct
experiments in space. Story Time from
Space also works with other experts to
ensure that it is covering the
curriculum.
Shelby Steeves Google slides k-12 I love using google slides for inquiry
projects. Generally I will create
https://docs.google.com/prese individual google slides for each group.
ntation/d/1SYbzZUZ8DWP_R For example if we are learning about
KWw8cWCvRW_vywvJS0gKo space I will create a slide for the star
gtr9CuSiM/edit?usp=sharing group, saturn group, sun group and
moon group. On these slides I will
https://www.youtube.com/watc include a video, a read along book, a
h?v=DhlpfkQvSss website to explore and either sounds or
pictures to view. Check out my google
slide I made for the saturn group!

Shelby Steeves Draw and Tell k-4 Draw and tell allows students to create
and record stories. They can colour
https://www.youtube.com/watc their stories, use stickers and design
h?v=Q9euFVr7Rr0 animations. This is a very fun tool for
students who aren't quite ready to write
or who have trouble with fine motor
skills.

Rupert Gadd Epic Books k-7+ Epic books offers a chance for kids to
https://www.getepic.com/app/ read on their computers, tablets, and
phones. I signed up for a free teacher
account, and students use my class
code to gain access. I get reports of
how many books are read, and the
class gets digital certificates and prizes.
There are books of every genre, both
classics and originals. There is a
surprisingly large library of books. The
site includes audio books. I recently did
White Jade Tiger with my class, and
the audiobook of that title was very
useful for kids with lower reading levels.
My low readers love the read aloud,
read a word, and look up a word
features.

Rupert Gadd Code.org K-12 This is a coding site. It integrates

https://studio.code.org/home seamlessly with google classroom, and
kids can sign on with their google
accounts. Teachers can assign kids
courses where they work through their
coding skills. There is also a selection
of printable computerless coding.
As an elementary teacher, I use the
block coding courses, but advanced
students can learn program languages
such as Java. It even has Minecraft
themed lessons.
I love this resource, and use it as a
gateway to other blockcoding activities,
such as scratch.mit.edu, or Micro:bit

Rupert Gadd Worksheet Works. K-7+ This is one for the teachers.
https://www.worksheetworks.c WorksheetWorks is a worksheet
om/ creator. I use it mostly for Math, but it
does cover other subjects. You enter
the parameters and the A.I. creates
excellent worksheets. Each worksheet
is unique, so I find it useful for skills
requiring repeated practice, or for
extending students who like a
challenge. It creates answer keys and
skills explanations too. I pass this
website on to parents who want to be
able to give their kids extra practice.

Lisa Jensen The Theta Music Trainer Grades 4 - 12 A subscription-based online musical

progressive and feature fun games for
students to practice the content. The

Lisa Jensen Overcoming Obstacles Elementary: K-2 and A free social-emotional learning
3-5 education resource that focuses
Middle school helping students develop their
High school communication, decision making, and
goal setting skills. The skills are learned
through lessons, activities and role-
playing. The modules can be taught in
order or can be cherry-picked, as the
modules are stand alone. This site is
great for ELL students as the
worksheets have been translated into
20 languages!

Lisa Jensen National Geographic Kids Elementary K-6 A wonderful free reading and activity
resource for children from a world-
renowned source. Articles, videos,
activities, games, competitions, clubs
and lesson plans that students can do
independently are all accessible for
free. Free registration is required for
some components, so students need a
parent/guardian email to register for
those parts. Don’t assume this resource
is only for science, I liked how there are
primary resources for all aspects of the
curriculum, such as arts and PHE!
Keep in mind that this website is
designed with British curriculum in
mind, though I found that most of the
activities could be applied to the BC
curriculum.
