CONCEPT
ADVERB is a word or phrase that modifies or qualifies an adjective, verb, or other adverb.
Types of Adverb
Adverb of Time - It tells when something is done. It is usually at the beginning or at the end of a sentence.
Example: afterwards, already, always, immediately, last month, and yesterday.
Example:
1. Later this evening Terrence decide to study about adverbs.
2. He fetched water in the nearby river yesterday.
3. Their flower plantation has been so popular a few months ago.
Adverb of Place - It tells where something is done. It is used after a verb, object or at the end of a sentence.
Adverbs of place include words such as above, below, here, outside, over there, there, under, upstairs.
Example:
1. The bubbly kitten died in the couch.
2. We can stop here for lunch.
3. The grade 9 students of FLMIS can play outside.
Adverb of Degree - It tells the level of extent that something is done. Example of adverb of degree are
almost, much, nearly, quiet, really, so too, very etc.
Example:
1. Sabina is quite fat for her age.
2. Leah was too shy to join the dance contest.
3. Jericho nearly died from his injuries.
Adverb of Frequency - It tells how often something is done. Words used as adverb of frequency include
again, always, ever, frequently, hardly ever, nearly, nearly always, never, occasionally, often, rarely, seldom,
sometimes, twice, weekly etc.
Example:
1. While stranded due to pandemic, he frequently phoned his family in Iligan City.
2. Rene takes his capsule twice a day.
3. Angelie never reads newspapers.
