Assessment 1

Most workplaces have a diverse population mix which means multicultural and includes
people with different backgrounds. Diversity in the workplace can also be gender, language,
disability, age, sexuality, and family make-up. Employing people with different diversity may
result in both benefits and challenges. They can bring new perspectives into the company
and increase productivity, a company that draws culturally diverse candidates will have
access to a wider talent pool, this allows an organization to attract and retain candidates
with the best talent, can inspire creativity and drive innovation, having a diverse team can
be more productive and perform better, and can be a great opportunity for personal and
professional growth. But it also face challenges like employees from some cultures may be
less likely to let their voices be heard, professional communication can be misinterpreted or
difficult to understand across languages and cultures, different understandings of
professional etiquette, and conflicting working styles across teams. All employers and
supervisors must treat their employees and job applicants fairly, and this applies to
everyone.
In a work environment, strong interpersonal skills are an asset that can help navigate
complexity, change, and day to day tasks. Having clear, effective communication between
colleagues, supervisors, and executives create and equal opportunity workplace. Having a
respect for everyone within an organization stands to benefit performance and working
conditions. To keep employees feel inclusive in the workplace, the management can use
methods of rewarding, or having team building every year to make them feel part of the
organization.
It is important for every workplace to have official policies, may it be specific for diversity
policy or in general, and to develop diversity training programs like bringing employees to
different groups together as they solve a problem or reach a goal, or have a mobile learning
which employees can access workplace diversity training on their device. Some methods
management use for identifying diversity training need is to set clear expectations for each
role of the employees and to monitor their performance, and to gather feedback from
employees whether rating their job satisfaction and also feedback from your training
programs to make it more better.
