This book contains patterns of simple, beautiful, architectural plans for a number of basically oriental designs combining the Islamic, architectural heritage that finds expression in using arches and domes, ‘This style of building is different from the other ones in that its materials are locally available, cheaper, and would reflect an original artistic architecture In such houses, costly materials such as reinformcement steel, and concrete can be replaced by cheap locally available ones, Itisa well-known fact that the importation of materials such as reinforcement steel, and cement, lays a heavy burden on the budget of fa great number of countries, especially Arabic and other Muslim states. ‘Consequently, the raw materials, available in those countries, can be used on the basis of the modern ways of technical and scientific development. “These materials, such as various kinds of bricks, ceramic, a wonderful variety of stones, marble, gypsum, wood and many other things which are abundant in our countries, can be used to build comfortable, economical, and convenient houses combining the original Islamic architecture with the modern values of beauty. Also worthy of consideration is the fact that these houses enjoy a suitable location with respect to sunrise, wind directions... ete. « Advantages of Oriental Houses » ‘ The materials used to build these houses are plentiful, and cheaper, % Such materials are well-known for their insulation characteristics against heat, humidity, and sound. + Consequently, the need to import construction materials from abroad becomes completely unnecessary. % Asa result, construction machinery especially for building can be dispensed with. % Such houses provide the people with a feeling of rest and comfort. * These houses are more resistant to weather changes and more enduring than the others. ‘% These houses are good enough to satisfy the taste of the majority of people. ‘Therefore, the advantages enjoyed by these houses, place them at the top of the peoples’ priorities, especially Arabs and Muslims and entitle them to provide the best solution for the housing crisis, ‘This has been so.owing to the fact that such houses have always been the best reflection of a wonderful, cultural inheritance of a great civilization as well as their economic, healthy and social advantages. “Architect Raouf M.A. AL-Ansati TYPE-A- It is a house which consists of two floors.
