Time 7:30 – 8:30 AM Number of Days FOUR

At the end of the lesson, learners are expected to:

1. Determine how temperature affects the speed of sound.

I.OBJECTIVES
2. Observe how sound waves reflect and refract.
3. Cite some factors that affect the speed of sound

A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of the propagation of sound

through solid, liquid and gas.

B. Performance Standards

Investigate the effect of temperature to speed of sound.

IV. PROCEDURES
Video Presentation:
● Learners will have a recall of the speed of sound in
different media. https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=BlENwMSTUy4&t=1s
● How will you differentiate the speed of sound in
different media (solid, liquid, gas)?
● Why does sound travel fastest in solid than in gas?
Explain in details.

Learning Task No. 3

A. INTRODUCTION
(1 day)
● The learners will read the given information about
sounds and answer the guide question at the end of
the lesson.
● They will write their answers in their notebook and
have their parents or guardian sign their work.
● They will refer on page 23 of PIVOT 4A Learner’s
Material and use the answer sheet.

Goal Orientation
● The learners will do the walkthrough of the lesson
expectations.

Learning Task No. 2

● The learners will identify if the given statements are
true or false.

Video Presentation
B. DEVELOPMENT
(1 day)  Learners will watch how temperature affects the speed
of sound. https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=2mlBh5d1IUY
o Applying the concept of kinetic energy, learners will
explain how sound travels in media with low and high
temperatures.
C. ENGAGEMENT ● Learners will be asked: Why do the sounds we make
(1 day) when we sing
inside the
bathroom have
good
acoustics?
● Learners will
explain sound
reflection.
● Learners will give examples of sound reflection
applications.
 Learners will be asked: Why open field concerts are
usually held during nighttime?

 Learners will be asked: Why open field concerts are

usually held during nighttime?
 Learners will explain sound refraction during daytime
and nighttime.
D. ASSIMILATION Learning Task No. 4
(1 day)
● The learners will answer the short quiz on Google
Forms
