2. All atoms of a given element are identical, having the same size,
mass, and chemical properties. The atoms of one element are
different from the atoms of all other elements.
Isotopes are atoms that have the same atomic number but
different mass numbers.
Metalloid has properties that are intermediate between those of metals and
nonmetals.
The Group 1A elements (Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, and Fr) are called alkali metals
The Group 2A elements (Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, and Ra) are called alkaline earth metals .
Elements in Group 7A (F, Cl, Br, I, and At) are known as halogens
Elements in Group 8A (He, Ne, Ar, Kr, Xe, and Rn) are called noble gases, or rare
gases .

5. MOLECULES AND IONS
A molecule is an aggregate of at least two atoms in
a definite arrangement held together by chemical
forces (also called chemical bonds ).
