1. You have four big tasks awaiting you in life: marriage and fatherhood, professional work, citizenship,
friendship. High school is a great opportunity to prepare for these tasks.
2. Having a map of life (clear vision and goals) is a starting point for any journey.

Lecture key points


1. Help them to see life as a journey, which begins now. How do we prepare for it? For a good journey,
one needs a good map (Map of Life).
2. Map of Life:
a. Know your destination and always keep your eyes focused on it so that your decisions now
help you to reach it.
b. Know your current location relative to your destination. Learn to live a life with self-
examination and reflection.
c. Know the roads to take, directions. Three sources of experience that can help to inform your
decisions:
i. Literature: good ideas and situations experienced through literature, history, etc.,
ii. Others: thoughts and ideas of others who have reflected on what contributes to a
good and happy life,
iii. Personal experience: your growth from taking advantage of challenges, opportunities,
and responsibilities that life brings.

a. Evaluating your motives
b. Considering the broad personal and social impact of goals
c. Considering the detailed strategies for goal attainment
d. Identifying potential obstacles and their solutions
e. Monitoring progress towards desired goals
