ME 243 Electronics and Instrumentation Lab

Final Lab Task
Instructions:
• The project is group wise.
• A report containing Problem statement, circuit diagram, steps and calculations involved
in designing, Proteus software simulation results with proper labeling, conclusion, and
applications of project.
• The report and proteus file should be submitted with title as your group number (For
Example: Wednesday Group3) on MS team “ME 243 Lab Exam” till 30th December, 2020.
• Project presentation will be conducted on 31st December, 2020 which may also include
viva.

Problem Statement
Part 1:
a) A clipper is a device that removes either the positive half (top half) or negative half
(bottom half), or both positive and negative halves of the input AC signal. Design a clipper
circuit using diodes, batteries, Sine wave generator and resistors. The circuit should
perform the following operation as shown below:

Where, Vmax = 10 V, VB1 = 2 V, VB2 = 3 V and frequency of sine wave is equal to 1 kHz.

b) Simulate this circuit in Proteus software and show results on oscilloscope screen of
Proteus screen.

Part 2:

Invert and amplify the output of above circuit using an inverting amplifier. The gain of
amplifier will be equal to your group number.

(For Example: For Wednesday group no. 3, select a gain of 3).

Hint:

• If one component does not work in Proteus, you may choose same component
with different description from devices.
• Take care of Ground connections
• Apply +20 V and -20 V as supply voltages (VCC and –VCC or VEE) of Op-Amp.
