FRENCH SPELLING BEE

The Spelling Bee Contest dubbed ‘Excuse my French’ took place on Saturday, March 20 at the Alliance Francaise de
Lusaka. The contest aimed at pronunciation, accent, speed, and translation of fifty words from English to French.
The participants had to translate the enunciated words from English into French and spell the words the fastest
possible with the ‘almost perfect accent’.

The contest drew participants from four schools namely the American International School of Lusaka, the
International School of Lusaka, the Lusaka International Community School, and Rhodes Park School. Rhodes Park
School’s Nkwangu Kapula emerged winners and scooped the overall prize which consists of a trophy, a medal, a
certificate, a meal voucher of K800 at the French Restaurant (le Peti Paris), K500 Book Voucher at Bookworld, a
themed T-Shirt. Joella Mazhandu who was the runner-up or semi-finalist received half of the first prize except for
the trophy. Chimwemwe Abigail Phiri got a Bronze medal, a certificate, and a T-shirt.

We thank our participants for the hard work and honour they brought to our school. We convey our gratitude to
their parents for the support rendered during the time of preparations and their presence at the time of the event.

Bravo! Merci Beaucoup!

DAISY CARE ZAMBIA GRACES 2021 SCIENCE WEEK

This year’s Science Week was made colourful by a team of young medical doctors and students from
Daisy Care Zambia who visited our school on March 26 to conclude the Science Week.

The team came to promote awareness of COVID-19 and its prevention among our students. They
also screened our members of staff and parents for Hypertension. Thank you Daisy Care Zambia.
This visit inspired our students who wish to take up the medical career.

Daisy Care Zambia is an initiative founded by medical students pursuing their Bachelors of Medicine
and Bachelors of Surgery (MBChB.) At the University of Zambia, School of Medicine in the year
2017. The group is united at the motto, "Promoting Health Awareness for an Illness Free Tomorrow "

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Lechwe and Girl Guides hold a cook-out

Food and nutrition are one of the topics that the

Lechwe and Girl Guide Club learn. They taught how to
cook because it helps them to understand how much
time and effort it takes for a parent to make healthy
food for the family. In addition, when a child cooks
new food or dish on their own, they are more likely to
eat it or at least try it. Members of the club had an
exciting cookout on Saturday, March 27 at Rhodes Park
School.

The girls had an opportunity to cook different dishes

which are usually discussed during club meetings.
Cooking nshima was quite challenging to most girls but
we are happy that some managed to cook the national
dish.

The cooked dishes were taken home for the rest of the
family members to appreciate the cooking.

looked smart in their ‘smart

casual’ attire.

MATHEMATICS-MANIA FUNDRAISING
This PTA fundraising activity is fantastic as it pays for the targeted PTA projects
for the year. We are thankful to all the parents who have supported their children
this far and helped them raise the sponsorship funds.
During the last PTA Annual General Meeting, members discussed the different
ways to raise funds. Every now and again, the Executive Committee Members
appeal for suggestions. You are invited to reach out and bring forward your
