A Petit Fille Style for this very EASY and LIGHT dress yet graceful and romantic.
High waistline.
The bodice has two views:
Version A has wrapped bodice, high waistline and a full skirt
Version B has rounded bodice, high waistline and a full skirt.
Only the bodice is lined, but the View B dress can be easily made fully lined.
Both bodices can be highlighted with an optional bias or piping.

Stitch 3/8” (1cm) seams unless otherwise stated.

3/8” (1cm) seam allowance is included in the pattern diagrams.

View A SEWING STEPS

1. With RIGHT sides together, stitch bodice front (piece 1 View A) and bodice back
(piece 2) sides in a 3/8” (1cm) seam. Press open. Repeat for lining.

OUTER BODICE BODICE LINING

2. With RIGHT sides together, stitch outer bodice to bodice lining along armholes,
straps, and neckline, in a 3/8” (1cm) seam, matching side seams (NOTE: Do not
stitch on bodice bottoms). Trim seam, clip curves. Turn OUTSIDE the bodices and
press.

OUTER BODICE PINNED TO BODICE LINING

3. Cross the bodice front sections matching the center front line and pin/baste them.

4. For the OPTIONAL PIPING on the bodice bottom edge: Cut a piece of bias or
piping long as the bodice bottom plus 3/4” (2cm). On outside, stitch the folded bias
or piping to the bottom edge of the outer bodice in a 3/8” (1cm) seam, matching
raw edges together and overlapping 3/4” (2cm) the short ends accurately on one
side. (TIPS: on each end, extract and cut about 3/8” (1cm) cord from inside the
piping for smooth side seams. Use an invisible zipper foot to stitch the piping)

5. With RIGHT sides together, stitch sides of skirt front and skirt back sections (piece
3) in a 3/8” (1cm) seam. Press towards back. Finish raw edges by zigzag stitching
or serging.

6. Stitch two gathering rows along the top edge of skirt, using long stitches. One row
is INSIDE the 3/8” (1cm) seam allowance , and one row is OUTSIDE the seam
allowance.

7. With RIGHT sides together, pin the bodice into the skirt matching side seams. Pull
up gathering stitches in the skirt to fit the bodice. Stitch the bodice into the skirt in a
3/8” (1cm) seam.

BODICE PINNED INTO THE GATHERED SKIRT

NOTE: If the bodice has no piping, stitch the skirt to the bodice. If the bodice has piping,
stitch the bodice to the skirt on the previous piping seam.

8. Take the bodice out of the skirt. Remove the gathering stitches. Press towards the
bodice. Finish raw edges by zigzag stitching or serging. Finish the raw edge of
hemline by turning UNDER 1/4” (5 mm) and fold INSIDE 5/8” (1.5cm) hem, for a
total of 3/4” (2cm) hem allowance. Press. On OUTSIDE finish the hem about 5/8”
(1.5cm) far from the edge.

View B SEWING STEPS

1. With RIGHT sides together, stitch bodice front (piece 1 View B) and bodice back
(piece 2) sides in a 3/8” (1cm) seam. Press open. Repeat for lining. (NOTE: In the
pictures, the same fabric was used for the outer bodice and for the bodice lining)

OUTER BODICE BODICE LINING

2. With RIGHT sides together, insert the bodice lining into the outer bodice. Stitch
outer bodice to the bodice lining along armholes, straps, and neckline, in a 3/8”
(1cm) seam, matching side seams (NOTE: Do not stitch on bodice bottoms). Trim
seam, clip curves. Turn OUTSIDE the bodices and press.

OUTER BODICE PINNED TO BODICE LINING

For the OPTIONAL PIPING on the bodice bottom edge: see step 4 of the Dress View
A, but attach the piping on the outer bodice only.

3. With RIGHT sides together, stitch sides of skirt front and skirt back sections (piece
3) in a 3/8” (1cm) seam. Press towards back. Finish raw edges by zigzag stitching
or serging.

4. Stitch two gathering rows along the top edge of skirt, using long stitches. One row
is INSIDE the 3/8” (1cm) seam allowance , and one row is OUTSIDE the seam
allowance.

5. With RIGHT sides together, pin the bodice into the skirt matching side seams. Pull
up gathering stitches in the skirt to fit the bodice. Stitch the outer bodice into the
skirt in a 3/8” (1cm) seam. (NOTE: Do not stitch on the bodice lining)
(OTIONAL PIPING: If you have applied the bias or piping on the bodice
bottom edge, stitch on the previous piping seam, see step 4 of Dress View A)
Take the bodice out of the skirt. Press towards the bodice. Remove the gathering
stitches.

BODICE PINNED INTO THE GATHERED SKIRT

6. Turn 3/8” (1cm) INSIDE the lining bottom edge. Press.

7. Hand stitch with invisible stitches the lining bottom edge on the waistline seam,
hiding the skirt waistline margin OR on OUTSIDE the outer bodice front, pin the
bottom edge on the seam, catching the bottom edge of bodice front lining. Topstitch
close the bottom edge, removing pins while stitching.

8. Finish the raw edge of hemline by turning UNDER 1/4” (5 mm) and fold INSIDE
