The work on guidelines resulted in a number of consensus conferences requiring more dedicated
organisational work in that area and more planning for the future.
Since the initiation of the rst project in 2006, the ECCO Guidelines have become standard references for IBD
management in Europe and around the world. The guidelines are freely accessible and available for download
on the ECCO Website and on JCC Online. ECCO is updating the Guidelines on a regular basis, which goes hand
in hand with continuous ambition to work according to the highest standards. In this context, with the
Guidelines generation 2018-2023, ECCO has started to use GRADE Methodology
(https://www.gradeworkinggroup.org) for its major Guidelines on Therapeutics in CD and in UC.
Due to the elaborate process of the ECCO Guidelines development, it is not allowed to translate or
commercially reprint these publications without the proper permission process: as ECCO Guidelines
statements and recommendations need to be read in the context of the supporting text, partial translation or
reproduction is not allowed. For permissions and reprints, please contact naomi.reeves@oup.com

The Call for GRADE CD Treatment incl.surgery (2021-2023) is anicipated for Spring 2021.
