y 8 12 14 5 2500 2400
z 10 9 5 5 1790 2400
Based on worked load capacity, work center Y is the bottleneck.

2. Using the traditional method:

a) In what sequence should products be scheduled for production?
For optimal products mix, one needs to follow the bottleneck approach the production
of the products based on the following ratio:

RM
Product Selling Price Ratio CM Tim in Y Ratio Prior
a 75 40 35 8 4.38 2
b 90 65 25 12 2.08 4
c 110 80 30 14 2.14 3
d 135 105 30 5 6 1
Based on the above priority, the productions as follows:

D= 80 A= 50

Center Time Time taken A Time Time taken Time
W 2400 800 1600 400 1200
X 2400 480 1920 600 1320
Y 2400 400 2000 400 1600
Z 2400 400 2000 500 1500

B=620/12=5
B= 70 1

If the variable cost is only including in the products mix and overheads is not
including in the profit. if we find the contribution the following calculation can be
made:

Total Contribution=50*$35+51*$25+80*$30
= $7525
Total Profit = Total contribution - wages = 7225-$15*8hrs*5days*4warkers
= $5125

3. Given the following product tree:

Assign the employ the selected pair of days off. Subtract the requirements satisfied by the
employ from the net requirements for each day the employee is to work. In this case, the
employee is assigned Saturday and Sunday off. After requirements are subtracted,
Monday requirement is 7, Tuesday is 8, Wednesday is 1, Thursday is 11, Friday is 6,
Saturday and Sunday requirements do not change because no employ is yet scheduled to
work these days. The maximum capacity requirements is 12 employee in Thursday. The
pair having the lowest total requirements is Saturday and Sunday 4+2= 6
Days

Monday Tuesday y Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday
Number of
Employee 5 4 6 5 5 7 8

Requirements 3 4 5 5 4 7 8

Idle clerks 2 0 1 0 1 0 0

The slack in this schedule would indicate to bulger the number of employ he might ask to
work part-time. Fewer than five days per week. For example, clerks 7 might work
