MAIN PARTICULARS
The Vessel to be provided with bulbous bow, two bow thrusters, underwater hull aft
with a central skeg, twin rudders and transom stern.
The Vessel to be built as a twin-screw motor ship. The propulsion machinery shall be
located aft of the amidships, consisting of 2 geared diesel engines driving two shaft-
lines. The shaft-lines shall be equipped with controllable pitch propellers.
The auxiliary machinery to consist of three diesel generator sets and two shaft
generators.

GENERATING PLANT
BOW THRUSTERS
Electric motor driven bow thrusters are installed. The controllable pitch propellers, blades of
stainless steel, propeller hub and hub coupling NiAl-bronze, gear house nodular cast iron.
Tunnel of mild steel with stainless steel ring in way of the propeller.
One pair of foldable SKF MARINE fin stabilizers is installed to reduce the roll of the ship.
Operation of the fins’ extension or retraction by means of remote control from the wheelhouse
where operation light signals and fin-angle indicators will be fitted. Local control at the
stabilizers.

ELECTRIC VOLTAGE
FIRE PROTECTION
Fire detection system is to be of addressable analogue type with smoke, heat, combined
smoke/heat and flame detectors.
AIR CONDITIONING AND VENTILATION SPACES
The whole accommodation including crew cabins, restaurants, lounges, shops, mess
rooms, galley, wheelhouse, etc. to be fitted with air conditioning or ventilation.
Public spaces:
Low velocity, single duct central system with zone reheating and zone temperature control
for public spaces and main passenger stairs. AC-unit fans are frequency controlled.
AC Control System
Electric starters for fans, pumps and refrigeration machinery near each unit.
- thermostatic temperature control for supply air.
- controls for additional humidification, if any.
- thermostatic control for steam heat exchangers, pre- and re-heaters, with local setting.
- cooling control.
- automatic control of chiller units in local built-on panels.
The main refrigerating machinery plant to be designed for indirect cooling with modern
primary cooling media as refrigerant, fresh chilled water as secondary heat transfer
medium.
Chilled water pipes of steel, insulated with Armaflex or equal type material.
Chiller units are installed with auxiliaries minimum 3 compressors to provide operational
soundness in Westmed.
Heating of Accommodation
Accommodation area is to be heated with air conditioning system, heating coils inside air
handling units.
- Preheating with same water circulation as used for cooling purpose, abt. 20C.
- 1 heat exchanger for water/steam, tube type, with thermostatic steam control, remote
controlled from AC-control system.
- Reheating with separate water circulation system, abt. 70/50C.
- 1 heat exchanger for water/steam, tube type, with thermostatic steam control
- 1 circulation water pump, 100 %, + 1 stand-by pump for heating water circulating system
provided with diaphragm type expansion tank.
- Drain tank for Preheating/Reheating water abt. 10 m3 to be arranged in double bottom.
Refrigeration Machinery for Provision Rooms and Shop Stores
Ship is provided with two separate refrigeration central circuits: one for cooling of
freezer rooms, and other one for cooling of cool rooms.
2 x 60% compressor units for each circuit to be of direct expansion type. Condensers are
fresh water cooled.
Vehicle decks to be ventilated with longitudinal air flow with axial fans,. Lifting points
for fan motor removal to be provided.
Closing dampers with electro or electro- pneumatic controlled actuators with
open/closed indication.
Automatic sequence opening / closing when fan is started / stopped. Dampers to be of
galvanized steel, shafting stainless steel.
Air change rate for empty holds during loading 20 air changes/hour, 10 air changes/hour
at sea. Air speed in ducts 10 m/s and 6m/s in outlets.
OTHER FEATURES
The exhaust gases and funnes generated by the following equipment are to be treated for
reduced NOx-level:
- Main diesel engines
- Auxiliary diesel engines
One ballast water treatment plant to be supplied and installed. Treatment type will be
filtration & UV, total capacity 300 m3/h. Such plant to comply with the International
Convention for the Control and Management of ship’s Ballast Water and Sediments
(BWM) 2004.
Ballast water treatment system to be located at portside aft area of auxiliary engines
room.
