The

superlatives
What do they do?

The superlatives compare a noun to an entire


group, and name a specific characteristic of that
noun that makes it special regarding a group. For
example, if we have a giraffe, we can say it is the
talles animal in the world.

Short words:
We add -est at the end of the
word. If it finishes in e, we only
add -st. If it finishes in y, we
change the y for an i, then add -
est.

Tall --> Tallest
Short --> Shortest
Nice --> Nicest
Happy --> Happiest
Long --> Longest
Small --> Smallest
Old --> Oldest

Big --> Biggest
Thin --> Thinnest
Fat --> Fattest

Sad --> Saddest
Good --> Best
Bad --> Worst

We add most before the noun.
