Advertisement Language

Advertisements are usually paid for by sponsors and viewed via various traditional media ; including
mass media such as newspaper, magazines, television commercials, radio advertisements, outdoor
advertising or direct mail; or new media such a blogs, websites or text messages.

There are four important strategic questions in advertising

 What products, service or event will be offered?

 Who will be the target consumers ?

 How will the products, service, or event reach the consumers ?

 At what price should the products, services, or event be offered ?

In advertising, language should be able to arouse , attract , identify, gather together and
communicate the message to the audience. Thus the language in advertising should be :

1. Evocative (making readers, listeners remember or imagine something pleasant): menggugah,


mencermati kebutuhan konsumen, memberikan solusi, dan memberikan perhatian.

2. Informative (providing a lot of information): kata2nya jelas, bersahabat, komunikatif, tidak


bertele2, harus diperhatikan durasi penayangan)

3. Persuasif ( making readers, listeners, or viewers want to do or believe in products, services,


or events advertised)

4. Powerful language ( having a lot of power to control people)

5. Easily understood by consumers

6. Simple language and clear pronunciation

7. Active sentence, not passive sentence

8. Solid and strong language ( bahasanya kuat dan padat)

9. Positive language, not negative language

Activity ( task)

B. Create it in a piece of paper
