module will help you to enhance your productivity at home
and discover deeper understanding on the Occupational
Health and Safety
At the end of the lesson, you are expected to:
a. Distinguish hazards in a workplace
b. Analyze the risk the of a particular hazard in a
workplace
c. Appreciate the importance of Assessing hazard and
risk
What’s new?
The students will watch a video presentation about
different hazards in a workplace. The teacher will ask
questions to students about what they observed in the
video.

Types of Hazards
1. Chemical Hazard
It is a type of occupational hazard caused by exposure
to chemicals in the workplace.
Example: Exposure in paint thinner, paints and resin
2. Physical Hazards
These are factors within the environment that can harm
the body without necessarily touching it.
Example: Noise from tools, Power hand tools, Ventilation,
Trip and Fall Hazards
3. Biological Hazards
It is a biological substance that poses a threat to the
health of living organisms, primarily humans.
Example: Toxin, Bacteria and Viruses
4. Ergonomic Hazard
These are physical factors in the environment that may
cause musculoskeletal injuries.
Example: Improper way of lifting an object, Improper seating
position, improper lighting, and repeated Movements
5. Psychological Hazard
These are hazards that affects the mental well-being
or mental health of the worker.
