ABSTRACT:
PRODUCT DISTRIBUTION: THE BASICS

Whether you're a small town bakery, an eBay seller, or a heavy machinery

manufacturer, at some point during the course of your business, you will need to
transport your wares.

Choosing your mode of transport: what to consider

 When choosing the best way to transport your products, the budget should be
the most important factor in your decision making.  If you are transporting
dangerous or dangerous goods, there are several guidelines that you must follow.
If you think they may be classified as dangerous, contact the Department of
Transportation's Dangerous Goods División.  If your products are expensive or if
you ship by sea, you may want to consider some for insurance.

This will come in the form of marine or goods in transit insurance, and will be paid
for by the buyer or seller.

Road
 If you plan to transport your goods by road, you must be aware of height, weight
and length restrictions.  If you are transporting your goods outside the UK and the
Republic of Ireland, you will need to familiarize yourself with the CMR note, which
applies to all international road transport contracts.

Lane

 The easiest way to ship your products by rail is to purchase a rail freight
package through a freight carrier, terminal operator, or third-party logistics
company.

Air
 Air freight is undoubtedly the fastest way to transport your products long
distances, but it is expensive and not very environmentally friendly.

Sea

 Compared to air freight, shipping your products by sea is relatively cheap,

especially if you are shipping large volumes.
