 MOBILE BASED ENROLMENT AND INFORMATION SYSTEM

Background of the Study

Enrolment is the act of enrolling in an institution for a particular course. Student’s

often had a hard time waiting for the enrolment to be done manually in school.

Sometimes if you have registration holds data that prevent you from enrolling in high

school. The faculties have a lapses because of a high number of students who are waiting

to enroll for year level and students would sometimes encounter a missing document

resulting his or her to hold their requirements and consume time taking a lot of or too

much time to stay in school for enrolment manually and also time wasted to comply the

clearance manually. More worked that cannot be done because of long wait for manual

enrollment. It is difficult for students and teachers to process manuals because sometimes

they make mistakes, and because of the enrollment manuals the documents are not safe.

There are students who are losing much time to continue because of long-term

enrollment.

In manual enrolment process, students would wait until the faculty assigned for

enrolment would arrived, while waiting they would fall in line, and the first in line would

be catered first, when the time of enrolment is over, the students that were not catered

would came back after the lunch break or the next day. Students had the hard time

waiting especially of the faculty in charged arrives late. Faculties never had a direct

access to the parents of the students if students had troubled in school or the students’

performance if the student was not working well at school. On the other hand, the faculty

had a hard time searching for the student documents, faculty would check on the records

that are piled on the shelves and it would take time searching for it if the student need it

or the Principal would ask for it.

Due to this problem, the researchers proposed to develop a system as replacement

of the manual enrolment system of the school. Faculty had his/her own username and

password to access the system. It could manage faculty and students’ accounts that

include personal details such as name, address, age, gender, student’s grades and subject

for student. The admin and faculty could managed student’s accounts such as student’s

personal details, subjects, grades, year level and section. With the use of username and

password, students could access the system, view his/her year level, section, subjects and

their corresponding grade for every subject at the end of each grading period and school

year. The faculty could manage student’s grades per subject in every section, from grade

eight (8) to grade twelve (12). Every year, the system would generate reports about the

number of students enrolled in a year, student’s record that includes grades, subject and

number of students who passed and failed.

Objectives of the Study

General Objectives

This study aims to design and develop a Mobile based Enrolment and Information

System and evaluate the system based on ISO 25010.

Specific Objectives

1. To design and develop a Mobile based Enrolment and Information System that

will be able to:

 Manage Users Account;

 Manage Students;

 Manage Level, Tracks and Strands;

 Manage Subjects;

 Manage Subject Grades;

 Manage Faculty Subject;

 Manage Student Requirements; and

 Generate Reports.

2. Evaluate System based on ISO 25010 in terms of Functional Suitability,

Reliability, Usability, Performance Efficiency, Security, Compatibility,

Maintainability and Portability.
