Select topics from Holy Quran, Hadith and Siratul Nabi (SAW) focusing on basics of Islamic teachings, Character
building, social duties and Islamic history
Prerequisite: Nil

Course Objectives:
The course aim to build up the character of the students and intends to cover the fundamentals of Islam.

Course Outcomes: After completion of this course students should be able to:

1. Gain sufficient knowledge of fundamentals of Islam, Islamic history and Siratul Nabi.
2. Identify his/her responsibilities being good citizen of society.

1. Subjective Study of the Holy Quran and Hadith 1-10


(With special reference to surah Al-Mominun and Al- Furqan)
a. The meaning of Islam: Tawheed, Prophethood and The day of judgment.
b. Ibadaat (Worships): Salat or Prayers, Saum (Fasting), Zakat and Hajj (Pilgrimage)
c. Amar Bil Maroof wa Nahi anil Munkir (Commands and Prohibitions)
d. Unity of Ummah
e. Kasb-i-Halal (Lawful Earning)
f. Fundamental Human Rights: Right to Life, Right to Property, Right to protect One’s
Honour, Right to Faith, Right to Equality, Right to Economic Security, Right to Merit,
Right to Justice and Rights of Women
g. Relation with non-Muslims
2. Holy Prophet 11-12
As a model of excellence Teacher, Trader, Preacher, Guardian of the family and Army
Commander
3. Character Formation 13-14
With special reference to surah al Hujurat, Truth and Honesty, Fulfillment of Promise, Sincerity,
Tolerance and Pardon, Patience, Generosity, Keep your heart free from Rancour and Enmity,
Etiquette of Conversation.
4. Islamic Civilization 15
International Influence of Islamic Civilization, Islam and Scientific Knowledge, Influence of
Human Thought, Social and Humanistic Civilization, Islam and Modern Challenges.

Evaluation Methods: Quizzes, assignments, three sessional exams, and one final exam.
