Data Analysis Plan

After the data were gathered from the answer questionnaires of the participants it would

be transcribe encoded in a word document and excel spreadsheet. The researchers may also use

SPSS software in transcribing the data using appropriate statistical tools. In analyzing the data

gathered, the researchers used descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The statistical tools

to be used on the study was based on the different variables of the study.

According to Evans et.al., (2004), descriptive statistics are used before formal inferences

are made. In the article of Philips (2020) he said that descriptive statistical analyses were

performed on the sample groups to obtain a clear understanding of the populations. Measures of

central tendency (means, medians, and other percentiles) and dispersion (standard deviation,

ranges) where computed. He also said that descriptive statistics are the properties of a data set

and it describes the data.

The central tendency and dispersion were measured in the study, under the descriptive

statistical tool, the researchers computed the mean, standard deviation, frequency, and

percentage of each variable coded of excel spreadsheets.

Corb (2013) ascertained that, mean is necessary to summarize the variables across of

participants. Standard deviation on the other hand, is necessary to understand how much

participants varies around the mean.

Mean is necessary in the study since it summarizes the variables across all the

participants. In the study, mean is used to measure the average of each responses of the

participants on the different parts of the questionnaire. Mean is also measured to average the

responses of the participants base on the equivalent numbers on the scaling of the questionnaire
to know whether they are extremely aware or not aware, has positive or negative attitude, or are

they willing to adopt or not willing to adopt at all.

Standard deviation is used to understand how much each variable varies around the mean

and provides indication on how the responses of the participants to the questions vary or deviate

from the mean.

In accordance with DataStar, Inc., (2020) standard deviation (often abbreviated as "Std

Dev" or "SD") provides an indication of how far the individual responses to a question vary or

"deviate" from the mean. SD tells the researcher how spread out the responses are -- are they

concentrated around the mean, or scattered far & wide? Did all of your respondents rate your

product in the middle of your scale, or did some love it and some hate it?

Frequency is a measure of the number of occurrences of a particular score in a given set

of data. A frequency table is a method of organizing raw data in a compact form by displaying a

series of scores in ascending or descending order, together with their frequencies—the number of

times each score occurs in the respective data set. (Encyclopedia of Research Design, 2010)

In this study, frequency will be used to describe the distribution of participants according

to their socio-demographic profile (sex, age, educational attainment, occupation, monthly

income), perceived awareness, perceived attitude, and perceived adoption towards

cryptocurrency. Percentage on the other hand, is calculated by taking the frequency in the

category divided by the total number of participants and multiplying it by 100%.

Louangrath et.al., (2015) defined inferential statistics is defined as using the sample

descriptive statistics to make an inference (estimation) of the population. Trochim, (2020) stated

that Inferential statistics is used to infer from the sample data what the population might think or

to make judgments of the probability that an observed difference between groups is a dependable
one or one that might have happened by chance in this study. in addition, according to Corb,

(2013) the purpose of inferential statistics in to determine whether the findings from the sample

can generalize- or be applied- to the entire population.

According on the article on the website of Statistics Solutions (2021), Pearson’s

correlation coefficient is the test statistics that measures the statistical relationship, or

association, between two continuous variables. It is known as the best method of measuring the

association between variables of interest because it is based on the method of covariance. It gives

information about the magnitude of the association, or correlation, as well as the direction of the

relationship. Pearson Correlation evaluates whether there is statistical evidence for a linear

relationship among the same pairs of variables in the population, represented by a population

correlation coefficient, ρ (“rho”). The Pearson Correlation is a parametric measure. (Libguides,

2021)

The researchers use pearson’s r as an inferential statistic tool to test the significant

relationship of the variables such as perceived awareness and perceived attitude to the perceived

adoption of cryptocurrencies among Ilonggos amidst pandemic.
