TRAINING NEEDS ANALYSIS


Sitio Pag-asa, Brgy. Sto. Tomas, Biñan City, Laguna

Step 1: Planning
Location: Sitio Pag-asa, Brgy. Sto. Tomas, Biñan City, Laguna

Background of community: Sitio Pag-asa is a community in Brgy. Sto. Tomas, Biñan City, Laguna
that is a community-identified poor by the municipality of Biñan. The people living in Sitio Pag-asa,
specifically, the households belonging there have an income that is below the poverty cut-off. To
elaborate, the family including the vulnerable (women, children, and old people) lack the basic
necessities in accessing nutritious food and proper hygiene and sanitation to attain a healthy life.

Identified problem (preliminary findings): The people living in Sitio Pag-asa are food insecure and
mostly, the teenage children are lacking access and knowledge to proper hygiene, sanitation, and
nutrition.

Resources and technology available to the community:


>Few households have a small backyard garden for the plantation of vegetables such as pechay,
sitaw etc.
>Few people specifically adults have mobile phones
> Each household have a radio provided by the municipality of Biñan

Persons involved:
Mother of each household and teenage children belonging in the community

Step 2: Data gathering (to back-up your preliminary findings)


Type of data: Primary and Secondary data
-People involved in the proposed project should go directly to Sitio Pag-asa and assess the
state of the community with their own skills and knowledge.
- Household data would be collected from the barangay which includes the demographics,
income, source of living, and other necessary information to further prove that the identified
problem in the community is evident.

Persons involved:
Representative in the barangay office of Barangay Sto. Tomas
Beneficiaries: Mother of each household
Teenage children belonging in the community
Volunteers: A group of people willing to plan and organize the necessary activities that
need to be done in order to resolve and mitigate the problem

What interview questions need to be asked in order to find out the household’s health

the teenage children living in Sitio Pag-asa about proper hygiene and sanitation?
What are the main sources of food in each household?
Do the households have hygienic homes?
When would the household’s mothers and teenage children be available in order to
conduct the training?

How much manpower is needed in order to appropriate a training design for Sitio Pag-

Where would the sources of funds for the training come from?
What are the necessary resources needed for effective training to commence?
Where would these resources be available and gathered?
Where and when would the training take place?
Who would the volunteers coordinate and partner with?

Step 4: Assessment Report

Sitio Pag-asa located in Brgy. Sto. Tomas, Biñan City, Laguna lacks the proper access
nutrition and food and that the teenage children living here, are also lacking in the necessary access
and knowledge to proper nutrition and hygiene. In order for data to be gathered, conducting an
interview in Sitio Pag-asa and requesting access to the barangay for the household profiles would be
done. Once data gathering is done, planning an appropriate training design would be established.

In addition, key areas of consideration with regard to Sitio Pag-asa community’s state are (a)
the schedule and venue of where would be the training project be held at considering that the
community is overpopulated and the people involved are considered to be always busy (b), not all
households have a small backyard with vegetables so the training design that would be established
should be deliberated thoroughly (c), not all teenage children living in Sitio Pag-asa have the same
access and knowledge to proper nutrition and hygiene.
